I read that Minardi has asked for an exemption so they can give the new lad a few laps in the car before next race. Basically they just asked the other teams if they would let them do it without filing a protest. I doubt anyone is going to care about that, being Minardi and all.

Didn't hear about it either, but normally around this time F1 goes into a self imposed summer break so the teams have time with their families. Not sure it already started, but it might have. It normally goes into affect in the three week span between the GPs coming up. Another such break is at the end of the season to give the teams time off as well.

Yes, it would include tire testing and the new Mc Laren. However I'm not sure how this is all really controlled. I could well imagine, that the B team (the test teams eg.) would continue the work in the hiding of their company's quarters.

I am interested in why F-1 has a ban on testing after Silverstone?

Does this include tire testing?

Also, is McLaren prohibited from working on their new car?

Is there a particular reason for the ban? I have looked around on several websites and haven't really found a reason.

thanks
steve
