Risk and the moment of truth are inseparable but unpredictable. But without risk, there's no reason to get out of bed every morning. If the wheels aren't turned in anger, then fines are appropriate - particularly at the commencement of a race. If in anger, even retaliatory, loss of position and fine. |

Ralf just had a 33K- fine which is probably loose change for him. I think they still blame him. http://www.planet-f1.com/Home/story_12698.shtml |

Ralfs appeal turned over his 10 grid position penalty. I feel that it was a racing incident and the first turn at Hockenhiem typicaly has a crash at the start. If anything was at fault it has to be Ferraris launch control. As poor as it has been i bet Micheal or Rubens could let go of the button early, and not get detected for a jumped start. |

Jack I agree. As much as I would like to see Ralf start in the back which would make things interesting. It really was just one of those "racing deals". I hope there not going to start analyzing each wreck to try and assign blame.I doubt it though. |

To me this was just one of those starting line incidents that happens from time to time with cars jockeying for position. If, instead, one of them had executed the classic patented "Schumi Slash" maneuver, then it would have warranted punishment. Let the boys race. |

Agreed about Rubens not at fault, but we are talking about the FIA. Funny thing is it is probably the first time Rubens wasn't involved actively in the mayhem. |

Kimi and Ralf. And they got punished enough by hurting their own WC chances. The whole investigation against Ralf is a sad joke. Especially as now the drivers will yet again be extra careful for the coming starts and risk less. We had a similar situation a year ago after some crashes at the start (remember Ralf and Rubens in Melbourne): The FIA threatened the drivers with severe penalties if it happens again. The result was a season of non events at the starts. The same thing might happen now. Racing is dangerous and drivers who take appropriate risks should not be punished. Otherwise we might as well skip the whole thing after the qualifying grid has established and go right to the winner's ceremony. |

Rubens? Not at fault. He was caught between Kimi & Ralf, and was braking hard when he got hit. I'd say Ralf & Kimi share responsibility. |
