Yes, the Marlboro Masters are always great. This year they also had the Ducati team running, some awesome machines the have Normally every year they have the test drivers of Ferrari driving there. Never seen Micheal driving Zandvoort. Well, I'm back to the game Bart |

Bart, glad you like it. I thought that was a safe bet. Heck, Tom wrote the Dutch files just for you. What a guy! I'm still waiting for my version, but I know it has left the continent. Tom also fixed a few bugs in the Fiorano track, which is of course close to my heart for many reasons. I never made it to Zandvoort, but got close and in hindsight regret not having gone for the Marlboro Days. They had the entire Ferrari F1 team there, bummer (well sans Michael I believe). |

Ok, I received it, played it, and I love it This is such a great super add-on, A must have, so to speak. I can show you guys lots of screenshots, but I'm sure Andreas has already showed enough. As for me, I'm racing Zandvoort almost everyday. It's so great to race the track closest to you, which you know personaly. And there are a lot of tracks (A LOT!!). Tom has done a great job, he even emailed me a extra add-on, The files for Dutch menus (sp?) So now even my mother can use GP3 (and she's getting addicted I'm sure) Thanks a lot you guys. Bart |

Thanks Jack, I worked hard on this. Even went to a CART race and took a bunch of pictures of the real horizon line to get the background right (you can't see that on this shot). Call me at work tomorrow after 10am: 525 6515 We need to talk anyway. |

Bart has a good point: The ten bucks are not for the software, but for Tom's hard work putting it all together and his additions. This is an important distinction since it would be cheap to just download stuff other people wrote and sell it. That's not the case here, what Tom put together took a lot of hard work and does include some genuine work. Here is some: The old Chicago speedway for CART I once wrote with Tom's help:
1935 car shape on the fictional F1 circuit in the streets of Paris. I wrote this one based on the comic strip 'Michel Vaillant'. Tom made the night version and helped adding some local attractions like the Arc de triomphe:
Paris has become one of the most downloaded tracks for GP3.

Bart, nice of you to send him some money. He does deserve it, he has spend days and weeks with this stuff. Plus it is always good to keep him happy, you never what next he will do with his time. He is also in close kahooz with SDI, the guy who wrote the wrapper around GP3 to give you all the different car shapes and tracks etc. I remember the lunar track. He wanted me to help in that, but I thought it was too hokey. I did want to make a lunar rover simulator, but it would have been a bit boring and nerdy. The night sky is cool though: Some tracks (like my Michel Vaillant Paris track) have even a night version (Tom wrote the night version for Paris based on my daytime version) and it looks even better, especially for city courses. Once I get Tom's CDs, I'll burn a DVD for the folks in the US. |

Ok gents, over a week I'll be receiving my Funny Grand Prix 4.0 De Luxe Major Tom is going to send me 3 cd's filled with zipped files to use. I CAN'T WAIT !! Some things have to be added in the near future (the right set-up for pitmonitors and some other features) but like Andreas said before, this is what's added. Quote from email : " You can even have a race on the moon and on mars, just check moonskies in GPxPatch and get the moon track. Or drive through the night on some tracks. You will get all the season in F1. From 1950 to 2003 and some others like Cart or F 3000. Shapes, performances, Cars, and so on all included." I'll be donating Thomas some money for the great work he has done, so if anyone wants to follow that, just send him a mail. I'm sure he'll be pleased to send out some more copies. Andreas, thanks for putting us/me in contact with Thomas. (and off course for the work you have done ) Bart |

"Shipping from the US is ridiculously expensive" Andreas, If you want to send the Forza's to 1 central point in europe (For instance Wolfgang) that's fine by me. I can arrange something with Wolfgang, so you only have to make 1 shipment to Europe. That's ok with me, don't want you to make extra costs after arranging the Forza's for us. Bart |

Although I'm completly on the otherside of the Netherlands, it's only a 3 hour drive to German border Thanks for putting us in touch with him, really looking forward to be using the add-on. Bart |

Oh my gosh! Look what he just did, all my favourite cars from the eighties have been added: Watson, De Angelis, Arnoux, Laffite, Jabouille, Scheckter, Villeneuve, Reutemann, Lauda, Piquet... BTW: You can steer the cars from the drivers perspective. We're just trying to show you the different car shapes.

Ok, ok, here a few words for clarification: All of you who are interested in this, should first get a copy of Grand Prix 3 for the PC. Since GP4 is the current version, you need to look for it on e.g. ebay. Shouldn't cost much, but you need that to run this add-on. GP3 had a lot less features than GP4, but most of which we have added back into it (e.g. the in helmet view with the visors). GP4 has better graphics than GP3. We can't do much about that. However as there is no track editor, GP4 is a LOT less interesting (you're restricted to its given 17 tracks), whereas GP3 is a LOT more open and the add-on will have about 70 different tracks. Major Tom did not write all these add-ons. He collected them (a big task by itself) and then 'glued' it all together. It isn't good enough to just use a different car shape and a new track and go racing, the results would not do justice to the simulation. So he went ahead and wrote so called 'magic files' to make everything fit together. He also developed some parts like the analog tachometer you see on some of the pics. I still don't have the final DVD as he is still working hard on it. But it will come, trust me, this is no vapor ware. I can't tell you where he'll stop, but so far we have F1 from today, CART and many different F1 cars from the past (see the shapes). GrandPrix btw uses the same car shape for all cars within a given race. That's why some shapes look funky on certain older cars (not a real problem in the fifties, sixties and nineties, but in the seventies there were different things tried out by different teams that get lost in this sim). So how do you get this sim? Well, I didn't expect all this response, so I had to change the 'rules' a bit: For those of you who live in Europe, I suggest you contact Tom directly: [email protected] As it costs more to ship the DVD from the States to you. For those of you who live in the US, just send me a private email with your address etc and eventually (when available) I'll send you the DVD. Payment can be made by check or paypal. Ok, nuff said, here some more shots:

Dan, it's a game for the PC. It started years ago with GrandPrix, the GP2, GP3 and now there's even GP4. But with this add-on (or should I say new version ) you'll have all the tracks/cars/seasons/championships, so there's no need to get GP4 Andreas, I'm ok with the $10, just let me know where to send the money too. Well you guys raise a good point: Originally I just wanted to hand this out for free. But now Major Tom has put so much heart and time into it, that it would be a bit of an insult to him. Also we're now talking DVD here, no longer just one CD. So I'm thinking ten bucks sounds about fair to me. I won't keep any of the money, but send it straight to him. I'll basically pay for the shipping and DVD burning. I'm not doing this to get rich, but I think Tom's efforts need some compensation. On a related note: Just got his latest update. Will post the pictures tomorrow, but I can already tell you, it is going to be even cooler: He continued into 1973 including the '73 Ferrari and then some: Regazzoni on the '76 Ferrari against the famous John Player Special Lotus. One of my all time favourites. Please let me know, whether ten bucks is fair. I think it is. |

A Cray.
Nahh, Windows XP, 64bit graphics accelerator card and a fast processor. How fast? As fast as you can safely afford it. Remember this is GP3, so it was written for some PCs back from today. I don't even know how fast my machine is, I think about 1.6Gigs and that does it. Graphics accelerator card is important though. And now a DVD to get all this software in. |

Major Tom is getting loopier by the minute: He is putting together what can only be described as the pinnacle of F1 simulation racing: What used to fit onto one CD-ROM, now requires about seven, or simply one DVD. There will be old seasons with old cars and old performance data. Having worked on some of the stuff I know how complex it all can get and what Tom is putting together is nothing short of a monumental task. |

BTW: Major Tom has further improved the pit stop screen. If you look closely below you can see all the chosen settings (like brake bias, dampers etc). He has taken that even further. All the information at one glance. Awesome. BTW: Does anybody still have the URL for the old GP webpage, that had F1 cars and shapes from the seventies and eighties? Can't find it anymore. |

Bart, since I already have your address for the Forza issue, I'll throw in the CD with it. No costs. This CD is really nifty: It uses the GPxPatch will give you total control over the game before you even start it: Select the tracks and cars you want. All GP3 tracks are supposed to be in there (hey, that would include three, that I wrote!). I haven't seen the CD yet, but I know Major Tom well and know he'll only do a master piece. He's working on this night and day, literally. |

THOSE WITHOUT SIMS SHALL THROW THE FIRST STONE! Here a few screen shots to wet your appetite:
In helmet perspective with visor visible. This did not exist in GP3! Also note the new pit sign on the left and the customized cockpit.
Update pit monitor and on the Indianapolis track (didn't exist in GP3 either)!
The car in its 2003 liveries including tobacco ads.
Want CART? Not only the liveries change, also the car shape and the car's dynamics and handling is different from F1.
How about some oval racing?
New street courses included. This is a free add-on CD to GP3. Just get your licensed copy of GP3 from e.g. ebay and add this software over it and voila! |

Soon I'll be getting a CD with numeours upgrades and modifications to the Grand Prix 3 game/simulation (GP3, not GP4!). You will be able to drive various kinds of cars, incl. CART on a multitude of tracks. Sounds and graphics enhanced, different drivers etc. Let me know if you're interested. I'm getting this all from "Major Tom" from Germany, one of the best 'hackers' around. I used to work with him on various GP3 projects. Amongst other things we programmed the Chicago Speed oval and Ferrari's Fiorano test track for GP3. |
