BTW: Notice the Sauber-Ferrari ahead of MS? They redid the aerodynamics of their car to make it almost a Ferrari clone. Has now the shark gills as well. They're trying hard to beat Jordan in the constructor's championship. |

Any reports on top speeds? how do they compare to last years, also and lap times? --- and on another note, they decided NOT to bring back manual transmissions right? What, if any major rule changes will there be next year?

Kevin, I basically agree with your tire comment, however the reason they introduced the ugly grooved tires is to reduce the contact patch in order to reduce speed in turns and hence increase safety. Alternatively they could make the tire dimensions smaller, but that would look really goofy. |

Actually on the second page of photos is the paste on the barge board. On that photo it's kind of half worn off. Also, the FIA could easily elimiate the tire problem by simply BANNING GROOVED TIRES!!! God, I hate those things - just make it simple; slick tires with a maximum dimension and minimum dimension. These grooves are a joke..................And they're butt-ugly........ |

Just saw the picture. That's actually not the barge board, but the end plate of the front wing. And that paste looks kinda familiar: That's similar to the paint used in wind tunnel tests to determine the airflow. Actually makes sense to see how it flows over the wing and the tires. Just unusual, that they do this here in the open. Maybe their wind tunnel is out of order or can't simulate Monza. Interesting also to see the almost non existent downforce on the rear wings. The Sauber rear wing is plain flat. |

Flexing barge boards close to the season end? Sounds like Mc Laren vs Ferrari at Sepang all over again. |

I read that both front wings and the rear wing broke off before he crashed. Williams has abandonded testing until they discover why. The Michelin situation is getting ugly. Hae you seen the pictures of the testing from today on F1racing.net? the McLaren's have some strnage looking green paint on the barge boards etc. The only reason i can think of is to see if they are flexing at all. Any other thoughts? It's not a smooth paint, it's like paste................ |

Had a serious shunt yesterday during practice runs at Monza. Totalled the car and had to be taken to the hospital for examination. Suffered a sever concussion and won't be able to continue the runs this week. Test driver Gene will continue alongside JPM. Michelin has come up with a new tire, so the original thread of a Monza boycott is off the table at the moment. |
