Here is sone interesting comments from Mclaren about the new Michlin tires. http://www.formula1.com/race/news/793/31.html No being a former racer myself and always looking for and advantage and grey area in the rule. I would imagine that michelin are working on tires that get wider 4 laps into a race then at a set # of laps the tires will go back to there starting width. The way i see it Michelin found a grey area of the rule and took advantage of it. Now that the loop hole has been closed, they are just going to find another avenue to gain an advantage. This is the nature of racing. |

During the morning practice session on Sunday last year, Giancarlo Fisichella was going down the short straight by the Arrows setup/simulator... I was walking towards my seat when I heard a huge sound and turned around and saw HUGE FLAMES shooting out of the back of a Jordan, followed by a huge cloud of smoke... very cool

I think I 'caught' that incident. I was walking in the infield when all of a sudden Alex was in front of me. I was fast enough to snatch a picture, but not fast enough to get a sig. Oh well. |

Andy; The only problem with your concept is the fact that the TellTale scent of burnt oil will not be present in the air. It would not fool anyone. Last year at the USGP Alex Yoong Ventalated his Minardi and parked it near where i was sitting and the stench stayed around for ever. Rob

If I were running Ferrari I'd have the engineers run a valve and water line to an exhaust header on all three cars. Then at some point during the testing of each car, I'd have the drivers open the valve, and a few seconds later shut down and pull over. The cloud of steam and apparent engine failures would cause a lot of havoc in the press and in the other garages. Its a dumb idea but fun, and probably one more reason why I won't be running the Ferrari team |

Promising. However how much sandbagging is there? If I were Williams or Mc Laren I'd try to keep it down so Ferrari has less incentive to work harder. If I were Ferrari I'd be running with fumes in the tanks to keep the Tifosi happy. But there is hope. |
