Well, apparently there weren't any orders to keep Ralf out of the way. But Kimi, Panis, Ralf, and Michael all blew off Rubins, who held up half the grid on that start.

The surprise is that JPM was content to sit back there at the start. Maybe that's why he got antsy a couple of laps later.

Funny how the opposite (conc. rubens/jpm) actually happened

With the differences in launches, and Rubens on the dirty line, I'd expect Kimi to dash off, leaving Rubens and Panis side by side while the Williams cars try to duck in between.

I know there are no team orders this year, but if we see the two Williams cars sandwitched between Rubino and the Toy, a little oopsie by Rubin could have interesting consequences ... not that they'd actually do that. Of course not.

Oh, heck. Panis will probably smoke Rubins off the line, anyway (the Toys seem to be planning a short first stint). Which might beg the question whether Ralf is under non-existant orders to stay out of JPM's way.

Should be interesting.

Entering T1 is the most probable place to pass, but watch the speed coming down from 210 MPH to 60 MPH. Remember the two Williams colliding last year? And Villenueve tried to move from 4th to 3rd two years ago with that move and ended up in the grass.

Best place to try, but hard to execute successfully. I expect Schumacher to try it and improve his starting position.

Only real place you could, IMO, get a piece of someone is coming off the front straight, and into T1 (you could outbrake the other guy there). And, the last turn before the front straight is part of the faster complex at Indy, and allows you to carry a significant amount of momentum. So, if you get a run on the guy infront, you could slide by him coming onto the front straight, but I'd look for a lot of "divebombs" into T1 tommorrow.

i'm no expert- but i think easier - given the length of the straight- teams running with the higher hp - have a solid chance to pass slower cars on the staright- undy is one of the few tracks where drafting plays a faily important role - again because of the long and embanked staright- should be a fun race- i wouldn't count shumi out- but passing jpm with the strength of ethe bmw engines is going to prove awfully challenging

Is passing at Indy better than most tracks or is passing very hard at Indy? The reason I need to know is my cars must do some passing tomorrow.

Yipes, it looks like a great race.
