Jim, on my search for the place I ended up in a really crummy neighbourhood on Keystone Ave. I was of course the only F car. Everything else was bling bling and Cadillacs. It was very dark. So I stopped at a church (nobody would rob me at a church, right?), turned around and got the hell out of there.

The good thing that happened on Saturday night: My buddy came back from his dinner with some Ferrari team members and told me they were confident for Michael on Sunday. Sure enough, they did sort their problems out. Even before the rain begun he was on a chase.

Not surprisingly we also learnt, that the team is already working on the 04 car. As they should of course.

BTW: Read in the newspaper, that the new Sauber for 04 will for the first time also use the Ferrari gear box. Pair that with the new rule, that the engine has to hold over the entire weekend and you basically have four Ferraris in the field in 04.

Andreas, I had a bit of an electrical prob as well, or maybe not. I had not climate control although my A/C compressor belt was off the car. I didn't have fan or anything at the time of the monsoon and fortunately had a co-pilot to frantically wipe the fog off the inside windshield. I was almost as happy as Schummi to get home safely! (PS, sorry you missed the Fchat dinner...we had our own personal version (Ferrari) of Fast and Furious on the way out of there... there is brunch at Matteo's on Sunday for the encore) Jim

Jim, my Bridgestones held out in that moonsoon fairly well also. However not the electrics: Driving back to the hotel at night in the thunderstorm and all lights went out, I mean ALL. Pulled over to a gas station and went through the usual electric checklist. Turns out the main lights switch has a short, so was able to put it into a temporary position to get some lights back. Not that my lights show me anything on the road (they don't), but at least the position markers tell the others there is a red moving obstacle.

What has that got to with the GP? Err, nothing, sorry. But I will post pics soon. How's that?

it seems Rubens job as number two isn't completely understood. although "team orders" aren't legal they certainly seem to exist. to me it looked like he performed admirably. slowing the main threat to the championship and allowing the number one pilot to advance, then giving him room to work. having accomplished that his work was done and he parked his car and went home. no sense in driving around in the cold rain all afternoon. go in knock out a few hot laps do the deed and he's done. we all like to go into work a get off early i guess Rubens is like the rest of us. a nice hot shower a recliner and a big tv have to be much much more comfortable than a wet noisy car. wonder what " events" suzuka will hold in a fortnight.

Another well deserved victory by perhaps the greatest driver of all time. Despite tire changing miscue, MS drives to glory!

I also found out that my PZero's handle pretty well in a monsoon, which is what I faced on the way home from the track on Friday. Lucky to make it home without a spinout!

I can't remember a race where so many cars went out. Sucked about Reubens though, and I was worried until Ralf went out. Man, what an interesting race. Suzuka should be lots o' fun.

Very exciting race!
M. Schumacher did the job!!
Kimi still has a chance but very little.
Lets talk about Sauber!! Wow! They are now in 5th place in the constructors championship!

As I saw it, MS made his pass (ie got his nose & front wheels past the other car) BEFORE reaching the flag stand displaying the yellow, which, IIRC, makes it a legal pass.

As for the worn-down rain tires....we'll just have to wait & see.

We had a quick audio-only interview with Bridgestone's on-site manager Cees vd Grind (sp?) here on Dutch TV (vd Grind is Dutch) and he was EXTREMELY cautious in his comments...

Just got back from Indy. In my own Ferrari, hehe.

I sat in turn 1 and saw the Montoya on Rubens move, but can't tell from my perspective anymore than you guys saw on TV. Have to watch the tape first.

Anyway, it was awesome, the athmosphere was unbelievable (as always when seen live), especially with the huge Montoya and Ferrari crowds everywhere. We were all mixed and all happy for either driver and there was plenty of drama. When you sit in the stands it takes always a bit longer to realize what's going on. But as long as you see your red car zooming by you're happy.

I shot tons of film, actually more during practice and qualifying, but I did catch (hopefully) a few good moves including the Montoya/Rubens crash. No idea how the pics turned out, though conditions with all the rain coming down and jam packed seating.

Anyway, it is good to be back and having witnessed another red victory. Second for me this year after Imola. Maybe the team should invite me to Suzuka for good luck?

for once i'd like to see a race without controversy.

i think the only prob ferrari will have after this race is schumi's slicks. after the fuss ferrari had over everyone elses tires it'll only make sense for them to do the same about theirs.
as for the overtaking in yellow. i think he was already done overtaking before he reached turn one. but of course someone willbring that up to the FIA too.

other than that it was just an amazing race. michael sure did have to work for this victory. who's to say it's too easy for this guy? now if only ferrari can clinch the constructors....

Very exciting race from a newbie perspective. Is it tradition to take one's personal Ferrari out after a win? Cause that's what I did !!

"Oh yeah, it will be a VERY exciting race! Just watch it!"

Too bad for Barrichello? Are you kidding? He deliberately slowed from the start and targeted Montoya. I'm a tifoso, but that was just BS racing and I'm glad B. went out.

Yea Jack, I thought I saw it happen before the yellow as well...but that was a gutsy move by Schumi.

There still might be some protests coming for MS overtaking under yellow although it SEEMS that the whole was done thing before he reached the first yellow flag.

According to FIA rules, it's perfectly ok to drive on slicks, as long as they're not faster.

And Ferrari will probably prove that the better lap-times were coming from the fact that the track dried up (sp).

Ferrari's last change of rear tires were competely slick, Michelin is expected to protest that set of tires.

What does he have now? 9 points on Kimi for the last race? All he has to do is finish, what 6th even if Kimi wins to win the title?
