a few races back i read an interview where montoya stated that he would continue to be very aggressive when encountering MS. he explained that MS had a lot more to lose than he did and figured that MS would give him room since he had more to lose than montoya. one of these days montoya may find himself leading the championship, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts when someone plays the game against him like he plays it against MS. |

Even with out the penalty Montoya would not have caught him. Schumacher was the class of the field and even put Montoya a lap down. The difference would be that without the penalty Montoya would still but in the hunt for the WC. |

I don't agree, Frank. NOW is the time for the stewards to show that no bumping off of other competitors will be tolerated! We don't want this championship to end anyother way than in a fair race, do we? |

I didn't see that Montoya did anything wrong and I watched it several times in slow motion on my TIVO. Montoya got robbed by the pro-Ferrari stewarts. It's a shame too because he may have just beat MS if he hadn't had the 10 second stop and go penality ! If MS is a man, I'm sure that win was a hollow one. |

I just think he does not want to give an inch to them even if it mean he knocks one of them off or goes off himself. |

Personally, I'd love for Montoya to change to NASCAR where the "bumper car" style of driving he enjoys would be right at home. He seems too reckless of Ferraris. Is that just a cooincidence?.... |

seems there's been several races this year where montoya manages to "bump" either MS or rubens off the track. the last time he bumped MS it was deemed a "racing incident" and he was not penalized. i was glad to see that finally montoyo penalized for being foolhardy. i like his agressive style, but i wish he'd bump the mclarens off instead of the ferraris for a change! |

Yes it was Coulthard that put the mark on Schumachers car. I saw it happen live. When I saw how close they got I cringed thinking Michael was going to get knocked off the track. |

I thought the only thing Montoya was guilty of was trying to overtake someone...I think once he was committed to going round the outside in turn one he had to go down the inside at turn two because there's such a short run between the two. Often once you've decided to do a move you can't back out of it at the last second. Where do you draw the line though? Should Firman have been given a drive through penalty for driving into the back of a Minardi? That certainly was an avoidable accident... I believe it was Coulthard who left a 'kiss' on MS' left sidepod. |

Or was that simply oil and grime build up over the race ... I do not recall him getting that close to anybody! Pete |

In some circles, much is being made over Montoya's braking or lack thereof. Still photos show Montoya is fully on the track, his right front tire against RB's left rear tire. RB left plenty of room on the inside, action was required by Montoya to avoid collision. If Montoya was in understeer and unable to move left, he should be lifting but his agressive nature said 'push'. A simple miscalculation in a close manuever. Hopefully he will mature, a fast car and agressiveness doesn't make a champion add in lightening-fast-good-judgement. But clearly, he had room to move left without leaving the track. Incidently, who left the tire mark on MS's left pod? That was too close. |
