Andrew,

Er, where did you pull that one from ? ... he certainly doesn't lack charisma on the track, and that is where it counts!!

I do not think we will ever see Massa drive a Ferrari in a race. This was a mistake by Ferrari ... bought him because IMO they lost Kimi.

Massa has very little talent and is not a Kimi, or an Alonso ... and as Ferrari have had to bring back their old test driver, I assume he also is a useless tester.

I do not think that Renault will let Alonso go without a fight though ... but would love to see him carry the torch once MS retires or is no longer competitive.

So there is no word on Barichello/Ferrari right now? At what point before next season do they anounce the new changes?

Rob, that sounds perfect to me. I think it would be great if Michael ran with Alonso for 04 and 05, and maybe even 06. Maybe once Michael clinches the 6th, which will be in 8 days :-), he might start really helping the other Ferrari drivers, workin with them, giving them his ideas, his tricks. Theres no doubt the Schumacher/Ferrari relationship is tight (Michael most likely having a huge part in Ferrari racing and automobile development for years to come after he retires from F1), so he will probably want to leave Ferrari knowing there are 2 amazing drivers to carry the legacy.

Rob, I'm with you. Sounds reasonable. I wonder whether Massa will fit into the 06 scheme or not. I guess it depends on how well he'll do next year in the little Ferrari.

Rubens is towards the end too. I think we'll see Rubens go before Michael. I predict same for 2004, 2005 will be Michael/Alonso, and then 2006 beyond will have Alonso as the #1 driver.

Oddly enough German newspapers run stories yesterday about Briatore not wanting to give up Alonso to Ferrari for next year.

Contracts in F1 are not worth the paper they're written on.

I agree, that it is probably not going to happen, but always an entertaining thought.

Michael has 3 years left on his contract and was asked if there was anything that would keep him from fulfilling his contract and trying to put all of F-1s records out of reach. His response was direct. "Nothing" he said.

Perhaps Rubens will be promoted to #1 & Alonso brought in as temporary #2...

Rumours are fun aren't they?

Once Michael clinches the 6th WC title, there isn't much to gain for him anymore and a lot to loose (life, limb and reputation). So why not call it quits? At least so the story goes. And Alonso has been mentioned as his prime replacement. I certainly wouldn't mind this, but doubt it will happen. At least not for 2004. But stranger things have happened in F1 before...
