I would be so happy to see the Sauber's on top next year fighting vs the big teams !!

Anyway I could see the Sauber's being as good than the Renault's but compare to the Ferrari, McLaren and Williams , I dunno.
M. Schumacher and G. Fisichella are my 2 favorite drivers by the way!

Hopefully this actually happens, and Sauber is good. It could possibly mean that we have Ferrari, Williams, Mclaren, Renault, Sauber all having a shot to win races/podium, with Toyota and BAR not far behind.

John T, you're right about the Sauber. Because next year they need 'new' engines that can withstand an entire race weekend, Sauber will get the Ferrari engines right from the start. Probably with less mods, but still.

Also for the first time Sauber will use the Ferrari gearbox. Add to that the fact, that F1 teams heavily copy each other's aero designs and you're talking basically 4 Ferraris at the start of the season.

And yes, it will be a much better year for Sauber: Their new state of the art wind tunnel will start operating Q1/04. That will make a huge difference. Also Credit Suisse, their main sponsor signed up again, so $$$ shouldn't be too much of an issue. And with drivers like Fisi and Massa, they ought to make head lines.

Jack;

I have bumped into Nigel at the Indy car race in Phx about an hour before he blasted a hole in the wall. As i recall he was about as big around as one of my legs.

If i was to squeeze into that Jag the tub, it would have been split open at the sides and the control arms snaped like toothpicks. Then they would have to call the paramedics to pry myself back out.

Don't worry, Rob. Remember--Mansell couldn't fit in the McLaren, and that was his job!

I can't wait to see Fisichella driving his Sauber next year. Have you guys heard that the new Sauber will have the same engine as the one in the Ferrari F2004 and the same gearbox also!!
I predict a very good year for Sauber.

Jags 2004 #2 Driver was in scottsdale this weekend. Rumor has it that the aerodynamicist feel that they will have an advantage in airfow by producing a car around the driver. They also feel that mechanical grip will be dramaticly improved also. Notice that the driver is showing whom he truly wants to drive for.

Just kidding guys it is a pic of my fat butt next to a Jag F1 car on display in Scottsdale this morning.

Okay, okay. Let's sleuth this one out a bit. Williams knows that Ferrari is inwardly scrambling to find a replacement for MS. Alonso seems like the obvious man, but since Renault has actually made a go of this racing thing, fat chance that Flavio will hand him off for Ferrari's benefit. Kimi ain't going nowheres. They say his apartment locks from the outside, and Ron Dennis has the key. Williams is notorious for their stance on drivers vs. cars 'n cash. Bingo! Sign up Montoya 18 months early, sit back, relax, and wait for Todt, Brawn & Co. to come knocking. Remember that video of JPM losing it after conking his head on the camera? I seem to recall he bee-lined right into the Ferrari trailer afterwards. Head injury? I think not! Without Schumi's salary to pay, that could be one hefty cheque Williams could get for the services of the Colombian.

Don't discount JPM going to Ferrari. It might sound nuts, but not really. You see, even if he did go to MacMerc, it would be the same senario as it is at Williams. Who gets the better car and all the support ? Maybe JPM would like Kimi a little better than Ralf.... but I doubt it.

At Ferrari at least, with all of Micheals people gone, the team can build around JPM from scratch. As Schuey did when he arrived at Ferrari. The other part of the equation, Ferrari like JPM and his driving style..... probably most important part. No, I am not including Willy Weber here.

Lets see ........

The best rumor I read involved JPM jumping a year early to McLaren. Williams would then sign Villeneuve to a one-year deal. Doubt it, but at least it's creative.

They don't have to announce them until the start of the season. Remember Jordan this past season? Firman wasn't announced until just days before Australia.

Massa returns to Sauber (the Ferrari B team). This is a wise move by Ferrari if he is ever going to be worth hanging on to. Here is a quote from F1_live.

quote:

Sauber said: "We are very happy with both our drivers but I have been fighting for three years to get Giancarlo Fisichella to drive for us and now it's okay. And Felipe Massa - we drove one year with Felipe Massa. He was fast, he was a little bit young, not a lot of experience, especially on the technical side. Now he could improve very well with Ferrari, do a lot of mileage, learn a lot on the technical side and now we will drive again with him."

Good on Ferrari ... keep Massa away from Ferrari until he can drive without scaring the car :-)

Sauber Massa + Fichicella (SP)
BAR Sato + Button
Minardi ????????
Jag Webber + ???????
Jordan ????????????
Ferrari MS + RB
Mclaren Kimi + DC?
Williams RS + JPM?
Toyota Panis + De Matta
Renault Alonso + Trulli?

At least this how i am to understand it all. I feel that the rumors of JPM to McLaren is just that rumors.

Anyone know the driver line-up for next season's F1 teams? What's the latest with DC retiring and JPM taking his seat at McLarens?
