I was at an air show and saw a jet truck versus a stunt plane. The plane made a low pass and the truck started from a standing start when the plane was overhead. One mile race and the truck barely won at about 300 mph. Sort of opposite of the plane having to spool up. It is Les Shockley's truck, Shock Wave, with three jet engines on a Peterbilt.

i've seen a similar video with an indy car against an F/A-18. seems a little unfair since the jets have to spool up. anyway, the indy car blew away the hornet, but i do think an enzo vs. the euro fighter would be a better challenge. |

Tazio, "So, on November 22, 1981, at the Istrana airport (Treviso), he played a leading role in an unusual challenge against an F104 fighter of the Italian Air Force in front of hundred thousand people. An incredible day; Villeneuves Ferrari defeated the plane during an acceleration race: a timed kilometer from a standing start. A strange Ferrari, with no stabilizers for an higher speed."
I belive it was for "pink slips", so the Air Force donated the jet to the Ferrari factory. I think it is now on a stick near the Fiorano track.

Years ago Gilles Villeneuve was challenged in the same way (I am not sure what fighter jet he raced). He managed to win the race by having both the front and rear wings removed to make his Ferrari F1 car faster in a straight line. |

Andreas; They kinda did the same thing at a air show here in Pheonix 2 years a go with a Viper SRT against an F-16. The first run the F-16 was at "Military Power" no afterburner and it lost!!! The next race the F-16 was at full power and it was a dead heat. I have a feeling that the Eurofighter will be going down big time!!!! I think they filmed the race for Ripleys Belive it or not. The race i would like to see is an ENZO vs a Fighter. Rob Guess "The Other Rob" |

The Italian defense minister 'challenged' Schumacher to race against a Eurofighter jet (on the ground). Ferrari accepted and we're probably in for a nice treat. Imagine the pictures of that 2003GA accelerating down the runway next to a fighter jet! Scheduled for December. |
