Except you can't get a ticket at Montreal in exchange for the last 5 beers in your cooler...

Good, sounds a lot like Indy. So no worries.

I did the hotel thing in Sao Paulo. Worked like a charm. They even gave me their driver to get me there.

Jack, that's true unless you are Canadian! Actually there are lots of scalpers around the circuit with any ticket you want, usually cheaper than the printed price.

If you guys try but are unable to purchase the tickets you want, try what we've done. I won't bore you with why I've had it with playing by their rules. We concern ourselves only with hotels and airfare ahead of time, and allow the hotel concierge to find us the tickets we want. We haven't been let down yet in 6 years. Remember--since it's Canada, even the markup isn't that severe.

Whatever works Jay. If nothing works out I'll just go for the trials, that's fine too. But I must see you guys and your GT/4.

Here is the official site, but it is not updated yet.
www.grandprix.ca/

Andreas, I might already have my quota of tickets filled, but if anyone pulls out you'll have first dibs. I think you are only allowed 4 seats.

Jay, I'm definitely all four a FChat dinner. Won't be driving my car up, but anyway. Would love to see your car up close!

Please let me know when the tickets become available. I'll be happy to purchase them through you if I can't get them directly. Whatever works.

I'll be there again. If you've purchased tickets last year you get first dibs on the same seats again this year. I've got second row in the Senna turn 1. Andreas maybe we should all meet up somewhere! I'll be driving the car over from Toronto. Maybe we can have an FC dinner.

Andreas ,

http://www.admission.com
I know this site you could buy tickets for different events in Montreal. (hockey game (Montreal Canadiens) and other.)
But tickets for the Canadian GP are not on sale yet because they don't know if the GP will be back for sure (They have to find the money still)

Where can I get tickets for Montreal?

Hairpin sounds like the place to be this time around (since I did the Senna S last time).

thanks, will check out the archives - hopefully I'll be able to pull it off but no one around here (that I know of at least) likes f1

Although I will be 18 by that time, so I should be able to get a hotel etc.

the north american doubleheader is definetly doable. best seats at GVC are senna and the casino hairpin. we were planning BGP then FGP, also back to back but since CGP is back we won't have to cross the pond to catch two in a row. as for more info check the archives. there's more news there than you can stand.

Interesting - I might have to check this out.

I ran a quick search but couldn't find a track map. The official gp site also doesn't seem to be up? Anyone have a map/seating area suggestions?

I can only "spring" for one F1 race so this is great news. I prefer Montreal over Indy any day.

Now I am wondering if the Porsche Super Cup series will also be run at Montreal? If the cars have to be shipped to the USA for Indy then they can run them at Montreal too. There's plenty of time on the race schedule and coupled with the Ferrari Challenge, this would make a neat addition to the weekend. Any Porsche fans know anything about this?

Rikky, it's on the calendar for the week before Indy. That will mean three races in as many weeks! If you can, definitely get up there for the race weekend. You won't regret it. The city rocks!

What date is the Montreal GP this year (too lazy to look it up)? Maybe I could pull it off - it will be the summer before college starts have to have some good fun and blow some money while I'm at it (maybe not this one :-) )

Tifosi4, how can somebody with that name be a F1 fan?
:-)

Just checked with my better half and Montreal appeals to her very much. I guess my chances for a threepeat in one year are increasing.

I will be going to the Canadian GP next year for sure.
I hope someone buys the Canadian GP...I heard maybe George Gillet will (he's already the owner of the hockey team ''Montreal Canadiens''.)Oh well lets wait and see.

BTW I'm a big Formula 1 fan.

Maybe.

I have already a reservation for Indy, so that'll be a sure fire bet.

It sounds like Montreal will pay the 30 mios only once (if at all, this is not official yet). So the 'come back' might be a single event. And I would like to see another Montreal GP (been there once). So maybe I have to book that one too.

I'm also going to the Barcelona GP to cheer for 'my' boy Alonso. That would make it three GPs in one year. Crazy.

Just learned, that a deal is/has been made re: Montreal: There will be no tobacco ads, but the city (?) is paying the teams each 3 mio to cover for lost revenues. 30 mios lost is offset by the 65 mio won through the race.

Anyway, this means 18 races for next season. The teams aren't too happy about it, especially as now there are 3 (!) one week brakes as opposed to only one. Though for logistics etc.

As a fan, I'd like to extend to 20 races...
