Sadly that says more about F1 at the moment than it does about DC.

If I am not mistaken DC is the only other driver besides Michael with double digit wins now that JV is gone.

I think DC's rating suits him pretty well. While I've never been a fan of the Jawboy, I've never really had much against him, either. That pretty much sums him up--vanilla. However, I agree that, unless they can really pull a rabbit out of their ass, McLaren would be best suited resigning him for another year.

Mike: I concur about both DC and JV. I think DC is underrated. Definetly a team player and a talented driver. Plus his humility is very refreshing.

Last I heard McLaren have said that JV contacted them but they were not interested. I also hear he made a proposal to Jag to get paid based on performance, but they turned it down as they are looking for a pay driver.

I bet JV is out next year, and I hope that is the case, because he is overrated, lazy, not a great driver, and probably the WORST "team player" I have ever seen.

Thing about DC is, he's a reliable old horse, and he is supposedly an *excellent* development driver. Maybe he doesn't win much, but he can be counted to always score in the points. He does what he is told. He is good PR for McLaren. He works hard, is relatively humble, and wants to win. JV is a lazy bastard who just wants to leave when the race is over, and no matter what happens in the race, its always someone elses fault.

I can't see why ANYONE would pay to have JV as a driver. I sure as hell wouldn't.

I like how his departure was barely marked - and that Sato was the replacement! :-) Serves him right...

A rumor came out today on one of the F1 websites the JV is a possibility at Jaguar, since they have not confirmed their second driver. Mark Webber said he wouldn't like it, but would make it work. This is the most publicity JV has ever had.

Listen I haven't been too kind to JV lately, mainly because of his Whiney attitude. But give him a decent car and team support, and I feel he would blow "Pretty Boy Coulthard" into the weeds.

McLaren? I would actually venture to bet that, given all the teams, that is probably the LAST one where JV would find a home.

I hope not. Neither is Ron Dennis stupid, nor is JV any good. :-)

Is it me, or is JV totally overrated? I've heard the whole management / BAR story before, but seriously, when it comes to driver talent, he seems a bit lacking, especially by comparison to his pay.

Jos the boss is good company for Villeneuve the second.

I heard on tv that maybe JV will be a test driver for McLaren next year. And then in 2005 JV will be replacing DC as # 2 driver. So that means in 2005 RK and JV are going to be the drivers for McLaren.
