Hats off to ABC! Even though we had to suffer through a tape delay and the coverage pre-race wasn't as thorough, I think they did a very respectable job. Thankfully they didn't insist on using one of their uninformed NASCAR experts and went with the pro's from England to call the race. And while Danny Sullivan may not be as qualified as some, he has driven in F1 and at Monaco and we could have been left with Jason Priestly who had trouble figuring out the cars colors at Indy. Also, showing the race right after the Indy 500 really showed the American audience what a huge difference there is between F1 and the "no right turn IRL". |

I don't pay much attention to the announcers on speed channel or abc (though abc was probalby better). But for sure the tv feed was much better for Monaco on ABC than anything I've seen on speed channel so far this year. And the little graphics at the bottom like "pace car told to stand down" or "car #23 gets drive-thru penalty for such and such" were great. Then I really didn't have to listen to the announcers at all, ha!

Well, I must admit I like the Speed Channel coverage better. However I thought ABC's coverage was better that last year's USGP although a little gimmecky (is that a word?). Did I hear them say that ABC would be covering Montreal, Monza and Indy? Ben, I think this is what you were referring to. By the way, thanks for the course map reference. I printed it out and had it in hand as I watched the race. |

The coverage was only slightly better than ABC's last try. I think this was due to ABC piggy backing off of ITN's coverage. Even Danny Sullivan was not great. |

Not only do we see it tape delayed but we also get a good chance at another "cluless" race coverage team from ABC....I don't know if I have the will power to wait a week for the speedvision replay though. |

That's what I thought. One of the best races (or at least more famous) of the season and we can't see it live in the USA. I really hate that. I guess I'll have to resist the urge to jump on the internet and go Formula1.com to view the results. Thanks ben |

Drew, Sounds right to me, I have 12:30pm Pacific Time, Sunday after some Indy thing ;) . It would be a replay, and Speed will carry their replay version a week later, be prepared for a few more of these switches in schedule as the season continues. -Ben P.S. AM I seeing this correctly? In the Southeast, USA (central time zone) it appears ABC will show the F1 race after Indy at 2:30PM central. The Speed channel does not have it. This has to be a re-broadcast since it should start about 7AM Central Time. Is this correct? |
