tv coverage was poor. we had a chance to see MS make more passes in one race than he usally does in a season but malay tv feed chose to show RF driving on a empty track. zzz. we watched east coast 2am hard to stay awake. poor rubenito. had a chance at the usgp and now malaysian gp and the ride let him down. where are the '02s. at least let RB run one at brazil. |

Bill: I have to clarify a little, I was invited by Reuters BMW not by BMW Singapore. However, BMW Singapore's invitation was to 30 current M3 M5 owners, very good customers (reward loyalty) and potential owners (thru recommendations of course). I forgot to add they also sponsored the hotel rooms at Mandarin Oriental. It was a great schmooze (spelling??) job....like you, my opinion of the marque has gone up...would I buy a BMW from Performance in the future - OF COURSE! but thats because I am so weak!!! hahaha Manu: Let me tell you..after a few glasses of champagne, you could even sell me a Minardi ...hahaha Ulf: Yup thats my car...driving it everyday for the next two weeks and parking it at Nikko. But won't be long coz I just bot a second car...Hyundai Santa Fe!!! Shall we meet for lunch sometime soon? ALL: The big guy standing next to me in photo one is Bob Snow - Ferrari owner, Ferrarichat member and all round nice guy. We met thru Ferrarichat and we arranged to meet in KL - sounded real dodgy when I told people I was meeting someone I met on the net. "what if he is a serial killer?", "what if he is Al-Queda?- He's got a beard!" Turns out he is just a big teddy bear :-) Gotta post the dinner photo too... For dinner we had: Beef noodles, crispy prawn noodles, tow foo sauted in grounded pork gravy, pan fried squid in chalots/spring onions, chi pow kai (chicken wrapped in paper and deep fried in its own juice), pai kuat (spare ribs), baby kai lan stir fried with garlic. For desert: Mango loh...mango served in shaved ice and sago sauce. Yummy!

Lung, I'm in Bukit Tunku/Kenny Hills area. I'll think I saw your TR outside Nikko Hotel a couple of weeks ago. |

Lung: You mean you didn't have any connection to BMW at all? They just invited you because of the Ferrari in your garage? That seems like a pretty expensive promotion to me! I was a guest of Mercedes at Le Mans in 1998, but only because one of my friends is a former M-B employee and he is very close with the top M-B racing people. I road in on his coat tails. Even so, it was an amazing experience and it elevated my opinion of the marque. |

Crucially though.... have they influenced your future buying behaviour? LOL! Perhaps an M3 to be the daily alongside your TR? |

Actually I think it was BMWs intention to invite owners of other marques to influence future buying behaviour. In fact the picture I posted (group photo with the pitlane girls) 3 of the 4 guys are Ferrari owners...all invited to the BMW paddock club. We were really well taken care of. Police escort to and from the hotel to the track, free flow of champagne, pit passes, interview with the drivers, etc. Let me tell you...it sure works! |

Thanks Lung, Those are awesome pictures.....(Especially of the Ferrari from above). Do the BMW people that invited you know about your Ferrari ownership.....(Frank Williams made Jenson Button give back the F355 he bought when he was driving for Williams!) Poor Minardi - Well at least they've already achieved their ambitions for this season! |

Sorry to see you gents had to suffer through the race in person! What a shame...I tried my damndest to stay awake (12:30 am Chicago time), but kept nodding off. Man, I MUST be getting old. Used to be we didn't go OUT until midnight! Guess I'll have to catch the replay tonight. God bless NASCAR, er, Speed Channel. |

I'm not sure he did get screwed. TV didn't show much, but I'm sure both of them were doing their usual intimidation tricks. When you pull tricks like that sometimes you're the bug and sometimes you're the windshield. In any event, MS proved that he still has the most amazing luck in the world when Jenson Button's suspension collapsed, handing Schumi a podium finish on a platter. |

Ralf wins. JPM 2nd. The Red Baron 3rd. What a joke - haven't watched the race, but heard that JPM ruined Schumis race by bashing his wing off! Engine Failure for Rubens....that's unusual... |
