For those that are planning to attend the event, please email me immediately to confirm your attendance (if you haven't done so already)and provide me your full name and the full name of any other drivers you invited. I need to send out a roster to the event coordinator. Also, if you've sent a check to me, please let me know so that I can expect it.

If you still haven't decided yet, there are still spaces left. Contact me and I will add you to the roster.

Thanks!!

If nobody else can find a spot, I know of a few scenic roads that might be fun for a little bit. Or we could take the 57 down to Newport Beach and cruise around for a little bit on PCH...maybe check out Newport Autosport while we are there. I was there yesturday and they had a fine looking F40 for 425k...It was depressing though, it only had 165 miles :-(

Byron I am thinking that it would be fun to drive somewhere to eat afterwards- something like an islands or a baha fresh? That way we can do a little real driving?

Hey Byron,

I was just wondering if a sunday might work. I was thinking...maybe a sunday with a F1 race in the morning. We could all get together early in the morning and watch the race and then head over to the Dromo for some real racing. Just a thought.

Henry

p.s. I've got a couple of friends who are very interested in attending, do we have more room?

Hey MAN that is a GREAT idea. I was wondering if there was that kind of kart track in the So Cali area. When I was in England, two years ago, I went to a track like that. It is a blast, the cars do slide cause of the surfacing of the track, but it is great fun. The cost was like 35 quid (British for bucks). It is a great time, and I'm in! March 8th sounds great. How about we call it the first annual Shamrock Shinanagins Grand Prix.

Ok guys - Looks like among the so cal Ferrari Chat group, we have ~15 people. I've also rounded up another 10-15 people from other sports car communities (e.g., NSX, Porsche, etc). I think we can put together a grand prix event like no other!

I'll start laying the groundwork to make this happen....

How does SATURDAY, MARCH 8TH sound for everyone? (As soon as I get more details nailed down - time, cost, etc - I'll start a new thread with the event name)

James, I believe they can drive with parental consent. However, the minimum height requirement is 5 feet. You can also check their website for more details. (http://www.dromo1.com)

Hey guys... I'm glad to see we are stirring up some interest here... In order to set up our own private event, we really need to push for 15-30 people.

I'm thinking we shoot for the Feb/Mar timeframe. They have catering available, too... so we can even do lunch then racing... It may even be fun to open this up to other car clubs as well (Any objections to me inviting some NSX guys?)

Spread the word!!!

I've been there before. It's pretty cool. The cars slide around alot though, so differnt from real cars and from shifter karts.

It's alot of fun.

That would be great fun.

It looks a lot like the slick track at Malibu Grand Prix in Roland Heights. That is a blast and this looks like it would be even more fun if we could have the place to ourselves.

Hey guys,
I don't know if you've ever heard of or been to Dromo One before, but its an indoor go-karting track in the City of Orange. I went out there today to check it out... and it's lots of fun!

The standard cost is $25/person, which includes gear (racing jumpsuit, helmet, headsocks, etc) - the racing is or 12 minutes, which includes a 3 minute qualifying. We were able to get 23 laps in... Plus, if you have your own gear, you can just bring it to use there (I brought and used my own helmet)

Here is the website: http://www.dromo1.com

If there is enough interest, I'm thinking this may be a fun event to put together for the local So Cal Community. If we can get 15-30 people together, we can rent out the place for 2-3 hours and hold our own Grand or Mini Prix, which includes awards/prizes... Cost would be in the neighborhood of $55-75 a person.

Any thoughts?

-Byron
