Matt,
Who is servicing your Boxer?

I guess i missed you guys at the Winery. I thought
you guys ended up buying tickets. If you plan on
driving your Boxer on the next run I might join
you. My car still has a stubborn oil leak .

So Matt, did you get your car fixed? Why do you only need 4 valves? Are they all on one lung? What happened to cause this? I can late to this story and do not know the history of this car. Did you buy a beater chaep with intetion to build it into a good car? I'm in Torrance. maybe I can give you a hand. I have a full lift, many tools, and some nice part sources that no one knows about. I only make these offers to the truely hurting sounding people. I bet there is away around the $4000 fuel bypass valve. I bet the valve issue could be handled for under $1000. OTOH for 23k I could make you a very nice Ti valve train and you can go racing. Are you going to be at Dromo1?

I know you do not need a valve job, but for the future, these guys look like they are selling a new 512BB engine for $23.5k.

Matt

Enzos does great work but a little pricey IMO

Whats going on with your Boxer ? Have you tried a vaccuum test to verify the valve issue?

Matt, the one in the Pilota and FCA newsletter that I was referring to today is Gran Touring Classics on 3841 Catalina St # A, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. Their phone number is 562-596-9242. They advertise as V12 engine specialists and say the "Specialized in all Ferrari Models from 1948 till today".

Since they advertise in both the local F club publications, I bet someone else has used them and can give you a first hand opinion.

I don't know if this is the same as Gene's but hope this helps.

Sorry to hear the news Matt...must be hard. The 512 has always been a favorite of mine so I can't imagine how hard it is to let it go.

Look at it this way though, it gives you an opportunity to purchase another dream car :-) Its always fun to shop around, especially with the ability to purchase! Maybe see if you can find a good Testarossa?

Matt, I'm so sorry to hear that. After all the work you put in to restore it so far, too. Well, if you're looking for a new project, there is a nice '66 330 GTC at Bentley of Silicon Valley for sale. http://www.ferrari-losgatos.com/ferrarivintage1.html

Good luck with the sale... hopefully you'll get at least what you put into it... (but how do you put a price on blood and sweat?)

there were a few guys on the board that wanted the car. I'll see if they want it if the shop cannot sell it on consignment or just take it in.

The "man" will sweat you if they notice your out of state plate too often. Better off trying to get it smogged in Cali with "your" car. second option is best left to e-mail when the car arrives in Cali. If that option does not suit you, then do a change of address in NC to an address that you can use for the Reg.

Another thing about Ferrari's

You spend $75,000 on a car that leaks oil, is tempermental, Hot, cumbersom, fowels plugs, breaks, blows fuses and it's expected

You spend $14,000 on a used Mustang and it's unexceptable and is distened for the wrecking yard.

Go figure.

what really sucks is that a boxer kinda just "sucks you in"!! we drive them when back on the road and the sound and feel will make all the money somehow seem justified!! i have never owned a car that could do this...maybe a daytona.
matt, the price of entry was good for you however. you are still ahead of the game. mine cost 75 k when i bought a while back...so...i quickly getting my ass kicked!!!
