These freeking idiots. That is always the answer when it comes to law makers. Lets tax the F*CK out of the people to justify our idiotic spending.

BillyBob you are right on the money about Boxer and Feinstein. Those two stupid ass women have done more damage to this state. I didn't vote for them and they need to get booted out.

As far as the debt that this state has obtained, it is a result more of the bullsh*t energy crysis than of 9/11. It was manufactured by the energy companies that bought Edison and PG&E, who are also part to blame. What happened was that Edison thought that by selling thier power plants it would eliminate the cost of maintaining them. What was also supposed to happen was the companies that bought the plants were supposed to give them a discounted rate for the power. But what happened was that they started to price gouge. Here's how the FAKE energy shortage came about. Anytime that a repair had to be done on a power plant, only one was shut down for the repairs. This was because the power compaies had to provide power with no more than a few hour interuption in service. With the deregulation and the sale of the power companies to out of state energy providers this eliminated that rule. Well what the new companies did was UNESSESARALY shut down 50% of the power plant, for bullshit maintanance. Then our "genious" governor said hey lets spend all the surplus money we have on power for the state. When all that needed to be done was tell the power companies to turn back on ALL OF THE POWER PLANTS THAT THEY SHUT DOWN! How do I know all this. Because a friend mine who works for Edison told me what was going to happen 6 MONTHS before it did.

As far as getting extra money. What the dumb asses need to do is get it from the other big scam in this state. The LOTTO. The Lotto was supposed to be used to help our school with the extra revinue that the Lotto produce. Well the little trick the the law makers put into the Lotto was the revinue could be defered to other undisclosed things, but that a small percentage still had to go to the schools, to keep you off their sent. Well the Lotto wasn't making them enough money so what did they do. Two things. 1) the "Mega Number" was created, making it harder to pick the winning numbers resulting in large pots 2) this is the genious part, "Cash Value". What a brilliant idea lets coax these suckers into thinking that they will get the money in cash, but instead they will only get half one time and the other half we get to keep. Now we all have seen how huge these jackpots can get. Well lets just say it is a cool $50,000,000. OK now you only get half, making it $25M. Now you don't have to pay state tax one time, because with payments it isn't taxed by the state for 26 years. Now let say the FED's tax 35% of the "CASH PAYMENT" that leaves you with about $16 million. Now you put that $16M in the bank and guess what now you have to pay STATE TAX on the earnings. Ah yes they are smart ones. So lets see, with "CASH VALUE" out of $50 million that was supposed to be yours you get only $16M and the government get $34,000,000 MILLION!!!! of your money on in addition the money that they made off the top, and including the money that you will now be taxxed on the funds you invested and that are sitting in the bank. So were does this money go?????????????? Who knows? Here is the great part the Government has the opportunity to make this money EVERY WEEK.

So do not feal sorry for the SOB's in government. There is already PLEANTY of money in the system. I won't even start on where they can cut cost, but I will give a hint. The rude ass, lazzy, fat , bad service, SLOW, Department of Motor Vehicals workers.

Finally PEOPLE READ READ READ the small print in the voter information packets. This is how you will not get fooled. If is sounds fishy, or there is something odd, then DO NOT vote for it.

My 30k 308 is going to be $660, my 32k explorer is going to be $700 so a 50K 328 will be about $850 or so BUT it's not a done deal and the Governor does not want to raise it. Bill's statements are somewhat accurate but not completely. As of yesterday it's not happening. but this would no take effect until July 1 anyway. I work for the schools and we watch the stuff in Sacramento by the minute.

Thx Ron.... can you give me some idea of costs. Let's say you own a 328 valued at $50K. Are we talking about $300 or $1500?

Bob, license plate fees are reasonable for the time being. In 1998 the fees were greatly reduced. Now that there is such a big budget deficit the legislature is making loud loud noises about restoring them to the 98 level. That would increase each year's renewal by a lot depending on how new your car is and its value. I expect them to go up by spring time.

Mello-roos is a big scam. SD is very expensive. Sothern OC is nice but is getting up there. Next time you are out, let us know and we can meet you and take the cars out...again. I live north of LA in Valencia. So I gather your company is moving to the San Diego area?

Matt, my wife and I spent last Thurs-Mon in Newport Beach. Bad timing on my part. A month ago, I wasn't thinking about the Super Bowl... we couldn't figure out why all the hotels were sold out in San Diego??? Oh well, we made it to North County each day in an hour so it really worked out OK.

It's hard for an "outsider" to move to California. For you guys that live there and own homes, you're in great shape. The CA housing market, especially San Diego, has gone nuts recently.

We were looking at a new area up in the hills called San Elijo. It's 7 miles inland, southeast of Carlsbad. We looked at a lot that actually had a view of the Pacific (7 miles away) and the house could be completed by August (in time for my kids' school). We could swing this with no problem but when you throw in the state taxes, this "mello-roos" BS and all the rest, it gets pretty pretty difficult. On the other hand, the way the homes are skyrocketing, it may be worth the short term pain.

We love San Diego but the more I look into it, I just don't think it's in the cards right now. It's an optional move and my company would pick up some of the costs.... but who knows??? In Dallas, our house is much larger and much nicer for less $$$... but we have to live in Dallas, TX.

BobD,

Do yourself a favor. Live anywhere else but Kalifornia. This is the worst state in the union. If you do not have a job then move on in. Have extra kids and get a free ride on the tax payer. We have great welfare. If you have a job the payout formula is easy. After Federal taxes everything else goes to the state one way or another in direct taxes or indirect revenue generation schemes like red light cameras. Honestly, this is the left coast armpit of the USA. Remember this is the stronghold of Boxer, Feinstein and liberal courts. You can't protect yourself with a gun and the cops can't protect you either. Remember the L.A. riots? Nothing has changed. This is the States other way of helping the rifraff by letting them try to equalize themselves economically. We are the home of that maniac lawyer who pettioned the supreme court to overturn Ca. 3 strikes law. He thought if we give the 20,000 felons another chance they would all go out and get a job! OTOH there is serious work being done here. West Hollywood is attempting to make it illegal to declaw your cat. I am sure that law will help increase our quality of life in california.

Can any of you guys help me out? I'm considering a move to San Diego.... I have to take all this kind of stuff into consideration. What would my license plate fees be for a 328GTS? I have a Sequoia and Mini Cooper too... is the fee based on value, age.....??? I'm still trying to get a grip on your state income tax, mello-roos, etc. OUCH!!! THX!

Dear Fellow California Tax-Payers, Drivers, Auto Enthusiasts, and Voters:

Please also forward this message to as many other interested Californians as you wish to.

I am dismayed and appalled by the annoucement yesterday by our State Legislature that they plan to TRIPLE the Vehicle License Fees in attempted to deal with the budget deficit. I rarely contact my elected officials, but in this case I have. I have sent versions of the letter below to Gray Davis, as well as my Assemblyman and Senator. I would urge you to look up who your legislators are and contact them with your own opinions on this. You can find out who to contact by going to:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/yourleg.html

and put in your zip code to see who your Senator and Assembly representatives are. And, of course Gray Davis as the Governor.

Here is the letter I sent. I urge you to draft your own version.

Regards,
Myles

Dear Honoroable Governor Gray Davis:

I seldom, if ever, write to my legislators regarding matters of legislation. However, in this case, I feel so strongly, that I am writing to make sure my elected officials are keenly aware of my opinions on this matter, as a tax-paying, property-owning, voter and citizen of the great Sate of Califonria.

We have all been impacted and affected by the events of the past months since, and even before September 11, 2001. Economic health has been impacted by many factors, and we all know that many things are being done to try and improve our collective and individual financial health.

I realize that tax revenues to the local, state, and federal agencies are all down, as personal incomes are down. This makes your job as my elected representative more difficult in trying to balance revenues with the many programs that require monies.

However, in the simplest, and clearest terms possible, I want you to see your priority as being to SUBSTANTIALLY adjust SPENDING, by cutting back, eliminating, or otherwise terminating spending on ANY and ALL essential and non-essential programs to bring the SPENDING in line, and BALANCED with the projected tax revenues and income, WITHOUT FURTHER TAX INCREASES, especially regardless of the impact to social and welfare assistance programs.

Specifically, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY INCREASES in the vehicle license fees from their presently reduced level. They are already RIDICULOUSLY high, far higher than many other states, and, when combined with the endless string of other income taxes, sales taxes, property assessments, utility assessments, gasoline, liquor, telephone, utility, and other taxes, brings our total individiual tax burdens to unconscionably high levels.

Further, by basing the vehicle license fees strictly on vehicle value, it is increasingly discriminatory, forcing those with muliple, and more expensive vehicles to pay a disproportionate share of the costs for which these taxes were initially intended. Those, like ourselves, with multiple collector, or special interest vehicles who license them for use, but only use them occasionally on the roads are paying some the HIGHEST LICENSE FEES in the state, while USING THE ROADS THE LEAST, as we can only drive one vehicle at a time, and drive many of these vehicles very little.

I cannot, do not, and will not support any elected officials who promote increasing the vehicle license or ANY OTHER individual taxes. Please make a dedicated effort to balance the deficit and budget matters by SPENDING CUTS ONLY, as many of us must do as individuals in our own affairs. I hope I have made my position, opinion, and desires clear to you as my elected representative.

Sincerely,
Myles H. Kitchen
