Jordan, I know how you feel of not being able to sleep tonight, and I have a Ferrari.LOL
Every time we have an event I get so excited to hear all of the cars, I have touble sleeping. YOU WOULD THINK THAT I HAVE KIDS I AM UP SO EARLY-SORRY MATT.
I can't wait to see all 40-50 of these babies on the road-that will be amazing. Don't forget to take of your shoes in Matt's car.
See you in less then 6 hours.

Jordan-

AS was told to me:

"You can live in your Ferrari, but you can't race your house."

Words to live by.

Ron,

I may be out for Mechanical reasons after all. I need new idle jets on the carbs. I noticed some issues with them on the Sunday. I could have gone faster but the jets are holding the car back. I will try and find some but they may take a while. I need to get them and replace them by Sunday morning

p.s. my advice is to rethink the Houston trip. I forgot to include airfare cost not to mention the miles being used up that could be used on our drives.

I should join up with the FCA. I'd like to go but as a passenger, as on a couple year buying plan for my F-car

Last time I did Ortega highway was on 1/18/03 with a bunch of NSXs and I beat the crap out of my sedan up Palomar Rd keeping up. But I'll do it again if no one has an open seat..

Guys, Tom Brockmiller sent me an email and asked that we get a tally of the number of non FCA member cars from our group that are planning to go on the Ortega Run. He is trying to get a handle on logistics.

I am an FCA member. I remember this thread or the one about the Bellagio that others were joining the FCA or FOC to be able to go on that run.

How many of you are bring cars to Ortega but are not in the FCA?

Actually, I pick it up on Saturday now. It was only in for the rear window so it should run just like before. It was running sweet after Eugenio took care of it one month ago.

However since it was in the shop already I had the guy look at the heater problem and he is replacing the heater valve and then he is also fixing the oil leak on the shifter shaft seal and putting in new gaskets on the trans pan and gear box and, of course changing the fluids since they will all drain out. That reminds me, I need to email Rick and tell him to use a Baldwin oil filter.

I was planning on having the seal work done this summer and this way the car was already at the shop so it gets two birds at the same time.

I hope there is no problem getting it by Saturday and I also hope it does not rain on Sunday. They are saying now that it has a bit of a chance.

Pick a place in Irvine to meet. I will be there after I get Jordan.

JL,

get Byron up to speed on the drive down to OC. We are going to have to adjust our arrival times.;)

Jordan,

I will get you between 8:45 and 9:00

Byron I think the consensus is that we want to be at San Juan Early to see all of the cars come in. We should probably leave Irvine @ about 9:00- 9:15. We are going to have to do gas, some of the people comming down are from the north Valley and Not all of us have extra big tanks like yourself!LOL

Are there any OC people here who want to meet up in the morning and drive down together?

If so, we can meet up in Irvine at ~9:00am. There is a Coffee Bean in a plaza on the Southeast corner of Alton Pkwy and Jeffrey Road (near Blockbuster/Gelson's market). We can meet in the parking lot, have some coffee/donuts and maybe wait for the LA-based caravan to show up? From the 405 fwy south, exit jeffrey, make left, and right on Alton.

Jordan, it's right by the oak creek community, so it should be close to you.

Matt, JL, do you guys want to make a pit stop in Irvine on the way down? It is on the way, plus it only takes 20-25 min to get to San Juan Capistrano from my location, so I think we will be ok on time. We can expect to leave Irvine around 9:30-9:40am.

I'd say to leave by 7:45 at the latest. You never know what the 405 is going to do. Plus everyone has to sign the release forms and other stuff.
Plus we will all have to gas up again before the actual run.

Matt the Ortga Run Drive begins @ 10:30 with everyone meeting at 10:00 is San Juan Capistrano.
Lets say that it takes 45 minutes to get to Jordans house and 30 minutes to get to San Juan Capistrano and 15 minutes of BS time.Thats 1:30 total drive time. Could we meet a@ the Federal building @8:00 instead of 6:15? Maybe have a 8:15 departure?

JL,

I'll meet you at your place but then we have to go get Jordan in OC

Bart,

Leaks on 550's are a big deal depending on where they are. If it a oil pan deal then you are ok but if it's something else then sit this one out.

Contact the drive cordinator and see about a refund.

I had planned to be on the Ortega Run. The money was sent a month ago. My only problem is my car is now leaking oil. Tomorrow morning, I am taking it to my mechanic. The only problem is he is going on vacation this Wednesday. If in cannot be easily fixed, I may not go.

I have two tickets, one for my car and one for my passenger. I am not interested in making money but willing to sell at face, $90. Does anyone know on the forum if I can sell them?

Scott, its always good to have felow Trojans in the group, come on down and meet everyone. I don't know if you are driving your car a lot or not. In the beggining I was only driving my car locally, but I realized that it actually ran better on long drives- As long as we have no car problems I assure you you will have a blast.

I'm thinking about going on the Ortega Run, but haven't signed up - I hear it's sold out. What's the plan for the "unofficial" participants? Are we meeting at the same place/time? Do we get to park in the same parking lot with the $45 people? Do we get treated like interlopers?

Sorry if these are stupid questions...it's my first Ferrari event...

I just heard from Tom of B of the FCA. He said that I could receive a refund as there is more demand than supply. He said that everyone here would be welcome to drive along w/o the winery lunch but we would have to sign a release of liability.

He said that we would need to know the meeting place and that they would be taking a longer than usual route.

Further updates to come

Hey guys-When I had spoken with the organizer of the Ortega Run- He had mentioned that the Winery where we will be eating has many tables available. We will be able to eat there, a la carte and mingle with the people that have pre-paid for the buffet. My suggestion is to eat at the restaurant a-la-carte, or if on the way to the winery there is a restuarant close by that we notice that seems more appealing we can decide to dine accordingly.

Hmmm.. I'm not sure I suggested to branch off and have a separate FChat lunch...(after all, we don't want to be "clique-y" now do we?) I was merely suggesting that I personally couldn't take full advantage of the all-you-can-drink wine bar... so for the money, I figured we could do something a bit easier... and even if we stayed at the winery, we could probably just get a table to the side... the FCA guys seemed pretty cool about that.

Then again, lunch at a local diner of some sort sounds fine to me, too.

I don't know the area around the winery so I couldn't really recommend any spots... anybody knwo of any?

it was Byron's idea. He (and I) was/were getting tired of the fancy food and $90 bucks for two seemed needless so he came up with an idea to do the drive and at lunch time, split off and eat on our own.

Matt, when I first heard about the Ortega I thought the thing to do was sign up properly so I sent in my application. That called for a payment of $45 per person to eat at the winery.

I expected to have my wife so I paid for two. I did not know anything about another lunch with our group. In fact I didn't know we were planning another lunch until just now with your post.

Of course, I would much rather eat with you guys. I will try to get my money back. I heard there was more demand than supply for the Winery lunch.

Do you have a spot in mind?

I will let you know how it works out.
