I had one of the ultra stealth highly secretive super dooper laser deflecting plates that was there but had the look of no plates... only a chrome frame...

haha... just kidding, ron... couldn't resist! :-) Man, driving w/o plates is what got me into trouble... now I have a darn fix-it ticket to rid myself of!!! ack!

Matt... I'm up north every week.... in fact, I'm here so often, they put me up into a 1BR apt here in San Mateo... one of these days, I'm gonna have to bring my car up here and meet up with some of the fchatters up here... I still need to meet up with Noel with the Series Speciale...btw, did you put in the new fuel pump?

Calvin, don't mistake my name being mentioned for popularity... in fact, it just usually means I'm probably the butt of every joke....haha... thanks for posting on nsx prime... we have room for about a dozen more, so hopefully you and a few of your friends can make it!

Ron, actually Sunny faded out all the numbers ...on every car. :-) am i right? Sunny. There is nothing on the plate but the frame. however, i have heard about that product which some claims to works and some claims that it does not. neither case, i don't think we should test it. Being safe is the best and cheapest alternative Ron :-)

If you look at the top middle picture on Sunny's site in the hi res mode, you will see that the car has a license plate but the numbers and letters do not show up. I'm pretty sure that is because the car has one of those anti-photo laser camera plate covers.

I gotta get me one. :-)

Calvin, I remember you... ahhh...that was a fun drive. My car has taken an unfortunate beating since then (brief run-in between my bumper and the asphalt), but yah, that's me... and hey, look, that's my car in those pictures! Awesome!

We can all help you with the "cross-over" once you are good and ready - no problems there. In the meantime, join us during our runs anytime... the more the merrier.

Are you coming to Dromo1 Go-Karting on the 8th? There are still some spaces left... see if you can recruit more NSXer's for the event. Email me if you are interested.

btw...thanks for the compliments, sunny... I distinctly remember your jag at the nsxca event... you were keeping up pretty good with the pack!

Matt & Gene,
Thank you for the input. As much as i would like to run out there and get one. i have to get my permission slip signed by the wife first :-) at this time, our plan is to have the house expand within this upcoming year. I broke out a deal to have a big garage to fit my toys...and she can have the master bedroom :-) i do love the the 355 cabriolet...hmmm soooo sweet sooo neattt!!!--this will be on my short goal check list. At this time i do have a couple of toys to play with and ready to run with a notice :-) as i have mentioned, my nsx seems to have a little attitude problem--no sun, no fun! hope you don't mind if the nsx is tagging along sometime--i may feel awkward!! however, i may get out just to meet all the friendly people. :-)

Calvin,
a F-car purchase is always hard to justify because it is a luxury. (for me - its more like a neccesity - its my drug of choice)

i'd say put a number on your budget
and we'll help you find one out there that would fit it

mondial coupes can be found at $20K
308's at $30's
328's at $40's and so on

most of the early cars have reached its
valley of depreciation - so your money
is being parked - and justify the maintenance
cost, as cost of driving a F-car

Calvin,

And no, you don't need an F-Car, but as soon as you come out with us, you will sell your NSX and get one! :-) (Btw.. what year is your car?... any modifications?)

assuming the car still runs
and there is no engine damage...

HERE'S MY TAKE ON THIS....

quick estimates for consideration:

$7000 for frame, body, and paint
$1700 for rear bumper
$800 passenger rear quarter
$3000 for rear challenge grill with lights
$2500 for passenger rear suspension
$1500 for rear glass
$1000 for both rear quarter glass

since it is a paddle shifter
it may need $2000 for clutch job (every 9 to 11,000 miles)

subtract $15,000 for a damaged car devaluation

by the time you get this car running,
355 coupes can be found for around $70K

don't get into this one over $30K

Calvin,
Welcome to the board... you'll find everyone here to be very open to all car enthusiasts. We have a fairly large nsx and former nsx population on F-Chat (myself included) and we'll be happy to provide any information to get you on your way to owning a F-Car!

When you get a chance, sign up on the so cal contact list so that you can get some email information for our future drives.

Calvin,
Welcome!!!!!
You will find this forum very open to owners and non-owners.
If you are very much interested in F cars
then you will learn here and even more through the drives which you will be invited to.

As for the posted link of the damaged 355,
do you have pix of the front, bottom chassis,
engine bay, suspension,.....

Anything is reasonable for a price - or else
it would be a great parts car.

But what's coming to mind immediately is that
car would be a great TRACK car.

Hey Calvin, not doing too bad. Today was soo boring compared to the fun on the F-chat drive last Sunday. Its all I can think about. I'm glad you signed up! How are you?

When you send those pix, highest res, non-compressed JPGs work best. I'll make the thumbs and will post 3 across the page at a time, linking to the larger ones.

Ladies and Gents:
I do NOT own any ferrari just yet. However, it is on my near future agenda as soon as I finish the expansion of my house. I do own a cute BMW convertible and a Red NSX...yes, both ready to run--NSX got a little attitude problem, she likes to get out on the weekend and only on a nice sunnnnnny day!! Am I welcome here in this community?
