Ok I'm not sure what I'm doing browsing the Socal section, but it's very funny that I've had my TR parked in that exact spot that Noel's 348ss is pictured in at the first post of this thread.

Yes, Ferrari made 15 more 348 Speciales in 1994. I saw #5 (red TS) here in San Francisco 2 years ago. The badge was #5 of 15. It was quite ironic since my car is #5 too.

Somewhere I've got a list of almost every "Serie Speciale" car by description and s/n that was e-mailed to me not long ago. I'll try to dig it up later tonight (gotta go to work now) and check it out. I've never heard about the extra 15 cars though.

The ambiguous history behind Ferrari is very intriguing... As i come here everyday, i learn new things and as i piece them together, the legacy of Ferrari unfolds in an almost comic book-soap opera-like way... Just wanna say thanks to all of you, for opening it up to me... It's more than just cool cars...

Those might be a hard sell since Ferrari made it well know they made 100. Poor guys.

BTW - Hans Hansen know the guy with #273 288 GTO. They only offically made 272 but this guy new Enzo really well and they made one for him with left over parts. The plate on the car said #273/272.

Random Fact: I was told that there are actually 115 Speciales and NOT 100 (but not publicized)... At the last run of 348's in 95, they wanted to make 32 production challenge cars... however, for some reason, they ended up having 47 cars. So, they made 15 "extra" speciales. So there are guys out there with speciale #101-115... though I'm sure they may never admit it!

(This information was according to FoW, I believe)

THAT Spider has got to be pretty rare. does that mean it is one of the 100 speciales or is it one of the 1090 spiders?

Here is a link to some picures from today. http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/167223/207844.html?1046053198

LOL, congratulations, Wayne...! No, there's a Porsche special on speed vision with the English guy- awesome special with some awesome cars, you should tune in... (although, knowing you, you've already seen it and probably know all the serial numbers of the cars, the tracks, the years, the drivers, the weather conditions- even the amount times the show has been on...!:-))

"As i sit here and read that you're having a run tonight, i see flashes of light from the window; i look out to see mounds of snow, under a lightening-filled sky; moments later, the sound of thunder rumbles in the backyard- the impending onslaught of copious rain is inevitable. Right above this box i'm writing in, i see a sliver of red- it's the picture of Noel's 348. The realization that i was born to live in California surfaces in my mind, amidst thoughts of various obligations and not-so-easily-severable roots, here in NY..."

Sigh... i'll just have to wait for the pictures... Goodnight, Ron... Have fun, tomorrow... While you're cruising down the highway, top down, warm wind in with you, let out a "WOOOHOOO!" for me, ok...? :-)

Best regards,

Ron

LMAO, Ron, we're not allowed to smoke in restaurants, anymore... At least, not around here, anyway... & the bad attituDES are from all this crappy weather- we have much nicer dispositions when we get into nice, sunny weather, like out in California... & of course, Ferraris every where you look kinda push a smile on the ol' mug, too... :-)

Mr. Awesomebrooks...
With the recent purchase of my Saturn, the insurance costs, etc, it doesn't look like i'll make it out any time soon... Depending on what the tax man gives back to me (if anything at all), i might be able to make it out in late spring- if i get nothing back, i'm probably looking at the summer... i'm supposed to be up for review at work & a foreseeable raise seems appropriate (although i'm not banking on it), so i have to wait and see what the coming months bring forth...

When i know for sure, though, you can bet that i'll make a big deal about it, with a bolded post and all... :-)

-hey... when i do make it out there, does anyone want me to bring something with me, that you can't get out in California- like real pizza...? (<snicker>)
:-)

I do not have any emblems on the back of my car, I was told that the first spiders were made without any visible emblems on the outside, but it does have a spider emblem on the stereo cover in the center part of the dash. It looks like both the speciales didn't have any emblems or badges on the back other then Ferrari on top of the rear lid.
Noel Beautiful car. Can you add the cheese grates or do you put on the other door panels?

Why not Spyder?

Noel

I have seen 008 and it is a TS without the antenna and 065 has it. Go figure?

Jean Loius,

Those are aftermarker 348 door panels without the grates. It came with the car when I purchased it 2 years ago (along with the regular cheese-grate panels). I believe Koenig sells similar panels.

It's interesting that #003 has the fuba roof antenna & #5 doesnt.

I had the wonderful opportunity to spend some time today with Noel P. and his very fly 348 Series Speciale. If you'll notice, he has white F355CH Speedlines wheels... he also has replaceable side strakes - very smooth!

Noel, hopefully, you'll be able to bring your SS down from SF sometime and join us for one of our drives. Keep watch for details on the Hearst Castle drive... maybe we can generate some interest from Northern California.

Enjoy these pictures, everyone! (they were taken right in front of my apartment complex today in San Mateo)
