I think I can qualify for historical plates...

I am historically the loudest, lowest 348 on the streets... haha...

OK I was the culprit. I was the one driving Gene's 348 and got pulled over for no front plates. I admit it.

ooops!!

Vehicle Code Section 5100, which indicates that if you were only issued one plate, that is all you need to use. I would suggest you only ask for one plate rather than two. This is ONLY an option for Historical, Press Photog, Disabled, and the like.

Here is the link to the Form

i'm thinking tape the back of the license plate
with a protective soft pad then tie wrap the
plate on the grill

no drilling!!!!

i have to be careful not to scratch-up or bend
the grill with the plate on.

Its all in the name of cameras. When they set one up to catch red light runners, they hunt/camp the area to catch the front plates. Eventually, they will catch the "regulars" who take the road often and generate some extra revenue aside from the camera.

I was popped for the same thing several last Oct over a new camera and was told they're watching the same area over and over.

Matt,

I called Alan yesterday but he was out sick, I spoke with Eugenio today. I still have to take the car to Alan sometime this week. I could take the car to Eugenio to clear the code but he has no time to work on it.

Gene,
sounds like you ran across a cop with nothing to do.

Ive temporarily mounted plates using duct tape about 3 times in the past 15 years on various cars.

Buy a cheap mount, and rig it up with duct tape temporarily.

Be creative.... and dont drill holes.

Gene, I've already gotten 1 in my Ferrari- bumper to bumper traffic in the cruising zone on Sunset. You can actually go to the courthouse that issued the ticket-say that you are unable to fix the problem in a timely manor. They will charge you a little extra I think I paid $75.00, but i did not have to fix it. If you get pulled over- show the cop the ticket and say that you already have one and have ordered the part and got an extension on the ticket. hopefully he will not give you another one. I also got puleld over in the MBenz fr not having a front plate- with that car I simply put it on. The 348 looks so ugly with a front plate- its rediculious. By the way it has to be on the front bumper it can not be in the window.

Gene,

There is one on ebay right now (for 348). Are you willing to pay $575 for it?

I'll use tie wrap for mine:-)

I don't even have a place to mount a mounting bracket. Art Chambers got an exemption from the DMV. I will e-mail him for Info.

West LA - LAPD is enforcing - JL your side of town

My friend was driving my car and was stopped
strictly for the Front License Plate - nothing else - LAPD was driving in the opposite direction - made a U-turn just to enforce this rule

I need to put the Front License Plate on
my car for inspection at West LA.
Problem is - I don't even have a mounting plate for it.
Should I mount it in front of the grill
or should i mount under the bumper?
Does anyone have pictures of where they mounted theirs?
