Once again this was a wonderful experience, I wished more of you would have came. Bob Boas a lurker on F-Chat (come on Bob come out of the shadows!) showed up but without his car as it would not start, which I correctly diagnosed as a bad ground. I lost my digital camera only to have a magician at the dinner call me up to have me pull it out of a bag!

Rick Cole who lives in the area up there brought his good friend Harold Broughton who was a mechanic for Phil Hill and John von Neumann in the 60's for some of the most famous of Ferrari's to tell some stories. I was lucky enough to sit with Harold his wife Pat and Rick and my wife Rose at the dinner. Listening to them talk about the good old days was very exciting!

30 different Ferrari's participated including a 275 GTB4, 2 Daytonas, Juan Pablo Montoya's ex yellow 360. 308's, 328's, a 348, 355's, 550, 330 2+2, and an F40 rounded out the group. My gt4 ran flawlessly and proud on the beautiful backroads. I logged over 500 miles on these great back roads with almost no traffic.

I stayed 2 extra nights as the mineral water, massages and food at Sycamore Mineral Springs is really something to enjoy. The weather was excellent although hot (100) through Santa Ynez Valley on the way home but I did not shed a drop of oil or coolant and my new tires and wheels maintained exact pressure the entire trip! I did run afoul of apparently several hundred birds in a fig tree in San Luis Obispo causing me to pressure wash my car for the first time in its 30 year history!

Anyone that did not make this trip should be planning for next years. Walter and Carlos at FCA did a wonderful job of arranging everything once again, although the concensus is that next year it will not be on Memorial Day as many people had other plans and the hotel was slightly crowded.

You guys dont forget about this drive if you are not going to Ron's party it is a very good event and it ends at one of the most romantic places in S. CA so your SO will surely enjoy the trip. I and a few other drivers will be staying a couple of extra nights.

Rob,

I agree about Carlos and Walter. Are you going this year? I think Andrea and I are going to go, we just need to finalize the babysitting deal with the mom - in - law.

Hey,

I went last time and it was the most fun I have ever had. They even used my car as a backdrop for the official article. Check it out

http://www.fca-sw.org/sw/article.asp?id=496

If you have never been here it is a real romantic place to take your SO. My wife Rose and I go there all the time. Suggestion: opt for the Harmony rooms, they have the best real sulfur water piped direct to each room. The rooms with the garage are great but just have hot water not spring water. If you like soaking in a hot springs this is the best water I have found. If everything goes OK i will have my new wheels and tires for your perusal!

Rob

Oh yea, Carlos and Walter are they greatest hosts, And the food is good. We are also staying another night the 26TH. There is one of the best Italian Resturants around in San Luis Obisbo "Cafe Roma", we are going to eat there Monday night.
