Jordan - don't even sweat it. Too bad it didnt' work out. Often times the condition of a car is a relection of the driver and his/her attitude... so best that you stayed away from this one anyhow. There will be more... |

Well Byron called in the morning to make sure it was still happening. As soon as he hung up the seller called me and told us we couldnt come over that day and started to yell at me (he sounded very pissed on the phone...I dont know why). So I tried to call byron back to tell him not to come but I only had his cell phone and he didnt get the message. So I had him come for no reason! I still feel guilty about that Byron...so sorry! Everything happens for a reason though...The seller seemed sort of shady. He told me he was on "very bad terms" with Ferrari of Orange County and when I asked him about the last major in 91 he started exploding on me about how "Ive been servicing these for 25 years and I know what im talking about." I never questioned him so Im not sure what sparked him. Oh well. I dont think Im going to be looking at any cars any time soon...Sorry again Byron for having you come all the way down for nothing I should have taken myself although Im glad we didnt go at all. |

Jordan, The Major was 12 years ago. This is going to need a major right after purchase. I would not test drive it. It has been sitting way too long. Also it is a 1980. It's the first year for the fuel injected. It is rated at 205 hp. For comparision, the carb 308's are 255 and the QV are 245. Also the cars DID come with a Pioneer radio from the factory. "The 30,000 mile service was done in 1991 and the timing belts were replaced in August of 2000 strictly from a time standpoint, the next major service is not due until 45,000 miles" This is a False statement. IT is not from a time standpoint, it's from a milage standpoint. Don't even waste your time with this one. my .02 cents |

Yea I noticed that too in the auction, but the thing I like about the car is its cleanliness. If I were to buy it I would have a mechanic look over it of course and if it ran well it might be ok. One car we are considernig though is that GT4 for 18k on ferrariads.com. That one looks nice and its plenty affordable...More realistic than a 50k car that would mean I would need a full scholarship in order to go to college |

Sure Jordan...next time! I did see philips auto, but didn't stop by. I saw lots of people browsing there, though. It was a great day. I doubt you would get into an accident the minute you pull out with someone else's car... just make sure that when you test drive someone else's car, you should be considering to purchase it, too! .. bring your parents... they may not want to go home without it! btw.. looking at the guy's ad, I am a bit worried to see that the last major was done in 1991. 30k service 12 years ago, and the guy put on 4k miles since. I doubt the next service is due at 45k as he claims... perhaps it is more of a garage queen than you might imagine. However, it looks very clean from the pictures and looks like it has all the original tools and accessories... engine bay is very clean as well. You should email the seller and ask more questions about the car. Then schedule some time to meet him/her to see the car. That would be best, I think. Hmmmm... does this car belong to a local Fchatter?... perhaps someone who is lurking on the site? |

Yea that would be fun Byron. Really joking about the test drive, I probably wouldnt do it if he offered...I know as soon as I would pull it out I would get hit by someone and that would be the end of me driving You know, Im jealous you were down in Newport. With this weather today I wanted to go down there so badly today but I just didnt have the time. You took my ideal trip, Laguna Canyon Rd., PCH, and browsing Newport Autosport. Thats my plan for once summer starts! Did you happen to stop by Phillips Auto while you were there? Thats where I got the mustang from. They usually have a few cool cars. Next time you wanna go for a drive, call me Haha |

Jordan... if you want, we can go take a look at it next weekend. I wouldn't go just to get a test drive out of it... that wouldn't be too considerate. However, seeing as though we're both in Irvine, and how much you love the 308... it might be great fun to go take a look to see what's out there. You might just find a gem eventually! Let me know. |

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2407688973&category=6212 Found this on ebay just now, I think I might go take a look at it this week. Probably not to buy, but I might get a test drive out of it. There arent many 308s for sale in Irvine so it might be fun to see. What do you guys think of it? |
