John, I am not angry really. I read Forza but I tend to find there articles poorly written with little content of intrest. They seem to spend more time on the p-car mag then they should. I really don't have an issue with your event or for promoting it. I was just in a bad mood that day. And this morning for that matter. You had some valid points. As for the silver spoon, I had a 50/50 shoot with you being a Number 2. No hard feelings. You have to admit...it was fun... Matt |

Matt: "I just lack the energy to engage in a protracted internet battle with a silver spooner needing to feel validated by others. Put that in Forza. That magazine is the "Ladies Home Journal" of Ferrari." My curiousity is just killing me. "silver spooner" where do you get this from? Why do you assume this? What do you know of my background? And calling FORZA the "ladies home journal." I'm curious, why do you say this? Your bashing me, for promoting a Ferrari event, and you are bashing one of two major Ferrari-only periodicals? I really cannot understand why? (The only factual conclusion I can come up with is that both FORZA and I don't proof-read). I'm serious, why are you so angry Matt? John |

I've moved on. Good luck with your event. My lack of a response should not be taken has a victory on your part. I just lack the energy to engage in a protracted internet battle with a silver spooner needing to feel validated by others. Put that in Forza. That magazine is the "Ladies Home Journal" of Ferrari. They need spell and grammar check as well. M

Matt: In response to your assumption: "Your rant was the type I would expect from someone that drove their car 100 miles a year, keep it in a garage covered, and never drove it in the rain. I assume I am right on all accounts. Impress me and make your car a daily. Until then, drop the "Mr. Ferrari" attitude. Or are you afraid you will loose money?" Matt, "I ASSUME I AM RIGHT ON ALL ACCOUNTS." What is the basis of what you assume? I'd bet that you dont care if your assumptions are right or wrong, but other people might. For those you reading this that do care about whether you are right or wrong, let me respond with some facts: My Ferrari is my daily driver. There are four people on the board of my event. Myself, Dan Heard, his black F50 is his daily driver (with over 45k miles on its clock), Franco Valobra, his 360 is a daily driver, and Tom Bowes, his 360 is a daily driver. With exeption of Tom, we all race and/or track our Ferraris. Sound like posers and polishers to you? I could care less if I now meet "Matt's" definition of a legitimate enthusiast. And in the internet discussion age I think we must all be very cautious of what we assume of people we talk to. (my old law professor use to say to be careful of what you assume because "it can make an ass of u and me.") I post this response because I believe that Matt's posts are contrary to the spirit of this list. I spend a considerable amount of time promoting these cars, trying to spread the word, and enjoying time with "real" people who enjoy them. I really enjoy the people who use and love these cars, whether that person be the guy who is stretching to make finance payments on his 308 GTSi, or the guy who just paid 6.5 million for his LeMans winning TR. Both ends of the spectrum are represented at my event. Matt's assumed premise about people hosting these events is wrong. If you read the article on my event in FORZA # 44, I think you'll get a Huge laugh out of how misplaced his premise is. I spent of great deal of energy coming to the defense of Danny "DES" a frequent poster on this site, when he was a non-owner attacked for posting his enthusiasim. (FYI: DES is coming to the event on my nickle.) I think he was unjustly attacked, as Matt have unjustly attacked me. We should really stop this on this list. The reason I mentioned the names that apparently angered Matt was because I was responding to Matt's allegation that I was Spaming the board. ("spaming" suggests to me spreading unwanted non-credible information.) I mentioned those specific names for two reasons: 1) they were members on the specific sections in which I posted, and/or 2) they were "real" and credible enthusiasts who work very hard supporting the "driving and racing" of these cars, as apposed to the "posers" Matt so despises. Lets encourage people like Matt to save thier nasty comments and negative energy for those who are hostile to the promotion and enjoyment of these cars, (that's the spirit of the this list, is it not?) instead of attacking a fellow enthusiast. John

Oh and john w. houghtaling, II, Your rant was the type I would expect from someone that drove their car 100 miles a year, keep it in a garage covered, and never drove it in the rain. I assume I am right on all accounts. Impress me and make your car a daily. Until then, drop the "Mr. Ferrari" attitude. Or are you afraid you will loose money? |

"And Don, you are incorrect. The sections in which I extended this invitation were specific sections in which I had guests. I've posted in this sections for several southern california guests who came last year, including Gary Boblieff runs our concorso as our chief judge (Gary also heads the Concorso Italiano for the last 8 years) Just in case you didnt not know who he is." Once again, Dropping names to increase your self worth in life. It's arrogance like yours that give Ferrari owners a bad reputation. Good Luck with your event and when your done, give yourself a huge pat on your back for a job well done.

"Don," My name is Matt, YOU obviously don't know me, "or" who I am or what I do. "I have people from all over the country who have called me and repetively requested registration information on my event, and I've been advised that some people only review their local sections. So, Don, I was communicating with them." I understand that but that could have been tackled with one post on the general discussion area. Not in every discussion group. Needless and annoying so say the least. "Don, I'm not quite sure who the "we" is that you represent when directing your coments to me, but I would be very surprised to find someone who was offended by this invitation." Not offended by the invitation, Annoyed to see it posted all over the place. "I'm Spam posting by providing an invitation to a Ferrari event?" yes "Don, can please explain to me how the appearance of a thread in a particular section, bothers you and/or wastes your time?? " No. "I am amazed by your insult." Great. I am happy for you. "You obviously don't know me, who I am or what I do, but let me tell you simply that I, along with Guiseppi Risi, (the owner of Ferrari of Houston, Dallas, and the Risi Comp. race team and the president of the Ferrari Dealers Association), Guy Manino (the president of Pirelli North America), and Franco Valobra, spend approximately $100,000.00 a year on this Ferrari party to celebrate these cars and a few people who drive them." I really do not care. If you have to be a braggert and name dropper then I am truly sad for you. I am sure you are at the pinnicle of your life sipping champanie and eating cavar at ferrari events that you drove your German car to. "Am I somewhat misalgined with the spirit of this chat group?" No, Just common sense and courtesy P.S. If you are going to try and make well written point, learn to spell "repetively", "coments", and "misalgined" correctly. Also, grammar is key when trying to "sound" smarter then you really are trying to be. Matt |
