haha... but then again... I would just end up poisoning him with my fumes if I pulled ahead... :-) so, better that he leads!

(Just kidding, Matty... you are fast as heck with that 'ol 308 of yours)

Marty,

If you would have had a car that could have kept up with mine (your 360), you would not have had to get a 575.

Charlie,
Stay away from these guys. There is so much competition and pressure that they make you go out and buy a new Ferrari.

Charlie, welcome to F-chat!

Check out www.calcover.com based in Canoga Park. They mail order custom covers ranging from simple garage dust covers, to multi-layered breathable waterproof ding protecting covers. Priced accordingly, though. I own a Noah (vs heavy cover against dings, dust, hail, light water only, and UV) and just bought a Superweave (vs dust, UV, totally water proof, breathable, machine washable and very light). The Supremeweave is their best cover but its not totally water resistant and priced accordingly :-)

They will alter the covers as needed free of charge for the life of the cover and many are based out of panels which can be replaced.

Keep watch on www.ferraridrivingclub.com, be prepared to drive on some wonderful roads, meet some incredible people, and to wear a grin that won't end!

Charles, welcome to So Cal and Ferrarichat.
I'm in the Irvine area - there are a good number of us in the OC and LA area that get together quite often for drives. We have informal drives 2-3 times/month.

As far as "getting to know the area" goes, I would suggest a drive from NB to South Orange County... just go south on Pacific Coast Highway... you will pass NB, Corona Del Mar, Laguna, then if you go further south, you will get into Dana Point. Great drive, and it will give you a nice intro to the beach cities.

As Matt mentioned, Tubi will be no problem in Ca... I had my 348 Challenge pass inspections with a rollbar and challenge exhaust, so I doubt your GTS with Tubi will be no problem... if anything, count on the guys at the DMV to drool over your car a bit! Go to the DMV just north of harbor on 17th in NB... they are cool there.

Maybe I'll see you on one of the local roads one of these days!

Byron

There are LOTS of Ferrari activities and drives...especially with the Ferrari Driving Club, a group forming off of this website itself. Just keep reading the forums and you will see information posted about all the local drives. They are usually once a month.

Ive seen verde ingles on another 355 (berlinetta) online once and it really looked great on the car.

Welcome Charlie

I'll answer your questions in order.

1. car cover - There is a good shop for it. I would not get it from F of OC. Sunny, fellow F-chatter will chime in on this one. He just got a really nice, waterproof one. It does get dewie in the mornings.

2. Tubi - no problems.

3. FOC is mainly down in the San Diego area. FCA has more local activity's. The group we formed off Ferrarichat is very active. We meet 2 - 3 times a month, sometimes more. If you scan the So Cal section, you can see our drives. We go by the name FDC. I set up the drives for the FDC and soon for the FCA.

4. Some local to OC f-chatters will chime in but the Ortega Highway from San Juan Cap to Lake Elsinor is great.

Welcome
Matt

Hi I'm new in Newport Beach-just moved here from the East coast and don't know much about the area yet.I have a couple questions. I need a new outdoor cover for a 355gts. Is there a good local shop for this- or should I go to Ferrari in Costa Mesa?
I brought the car from NJ and it has a Tubi exhaust- any problems with inspections for registration here in California?
Are there many local Ferrari activities for members of the Owners clubs?
Any favorite drives anyone can recommend?
My 355 is dark green (Verde Ingles)-or also known as BRG-it's fairly unusual. Charlie
