Hey everyone... I posted some of my pics as well...(same link: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/18/273188.html?1056361019)

Rich, I saw you standing on top of the trailer... sorry, didn't get a chance to talk today. I'll try to stop sometime during the week in Los Gatos and say hi.

It was a great event, with a nice Fcar turnout as 348CH, 355gtb, 360Modena, 456M, 512TR, 246GT... other cars included Jaguar XJ220-S, Lambo diablos (VT, SV), Vipers, Porsches (Boxster S, Turbo S, 993), Lotus Esprit Turbos (S4S, V8), Jaguar (xj6, xjr), Nsx's, Bmw M3, and a number of others.

It was a great time.

Just driving alongside so many nice cars was a treat! Then watching the Symbolic Motors McLaren F1 do some practice laps was amazing!!!

I have some video footage that I will try to post later on.

Hey Matt,

He didn't say they couldn't come. He just didn't recommend it, since it would be really noisy and hot. He does have a good point. I've been to Fontana before and it is noisy and hot. I'm not sure if I can get my daughter to wear ear plugs (last time I was there I wore ear plugs).

Well, I am going with my beast. This should be fun.

I wonder how fast I will be able to go?

Hopefully, I will set a personal record for speed. My current record was set on Thunder Road to Las Vegas. Per the speedometer, 150 mph.

I saw the organizer Justin and he showed me where we would have our parking which will be in the Media parking reserved just for us with Ferrari flags etc.

This parking is very close to the car prep area and close to our suites #5 & #6...air conditioned with closed circuit TV of the track and overlooking turn 1...where there is generally lots of good action and racing...cool spot. This is where we will have lunch...pop sandwiches etc....

We need to know the number of people who have registered at the latest by June 19th for sure. I have to have the track credentials issued from the store at the breakfast for all the drivers to gain admittance to the track...OK? They will pick their credentials up here...

Is the $100 cost per car or per person?

Excellent!

You really think the E46 M3 looks all that aggressive? I see them all the time, and have seen a few that looked modified that do (don't get me wrong, I love the car and the design!), but in general they just look more narrow and less aggressive to my eye stock. It's pretty easy for me to tell an E36 M3 from the normal 3 series for me, but with the E46 I have to take a look at the rear badging. Maybe it's because so many people in SoCal modify their cars with wider tires and aftermarket rims? The E36 doesn't have as graceful lines, but the E36 M3 looks nice and beefed-up (wow - did I really just use that expression?) And, of course, many 3 series owners like to make their cars look like M3's. I'm also pretty new to BMW and M3's so I have a lot to learn :-)

Anyway, hope to see you there if I can make it, and if not, I'm sure we'll meet up soon at one of these events.

sounds great Chris - looking forward to hearing all about it. I prefer the E36 myself, too... but the new E46 ones are very aggressive, as well. Simon from EVO Sport is a fellow Fchatter, might become affiliate/sponsor of Ferrari Driving Club (:-))... he will be able to guide you in any additional E36 modifications you need, whether for track or street use!

Matt - is the price per person or per car?

Hi Byron,

I WISH it were new, especially with the SMG, but it's an E36 (1999 M3 Coupe in Titanium Silver). I just mean "break it in" as it will be "new" to me and I just had all the maintenance and preventative maintenance work done back in Houston where I found it (UUC SSK, aluminum pedals, UUC clutch bushings, UUC TME's, composite water pump, BMP thermostat housing, Stage II inspection, blah, blah, blah...) The previous owner did a terrific job keeping it immaculate and adding aftermarket intake, exhaust, suspension, and a phenomenal stereo system.

I actually prefer the E36 M3 to the E46 body style, although I much prefer the E46 if not an M3. Nice lines, but the E36 M3 looks much more aggressive to me. I wanted a quick, fun daily driver that was the newest E36 in the best condition. Still saving for a 308 GTS QV or more likely a 328, but as I'm engaged, and just bought a nice ring for my fiancee, other priorities will push that a ways into the future :-(

I also want to wait until I can afford an F-car as a perk and not stuggle to maintain one. Til then, the M3 will have suffice.

I've been VERY lucky to have worked on a lot of big films with a lot of my heroes. I'll be happy to tell you all about it when we meet up, but basically function as a liasion between the producers, the director, and the creative teams. I also started my own production company, directed/produced/edited my first film, and have four projects in development.

Looking forward to meeting you guys soon! Til then, see you on the boards :-)

It will be a blast no matter what! I remember watching Chris Parr track his F-40 out there and meeting up with some fellow F-chatters about a year ago. Can't wait for this one - still, some fast laps would a great way to break in my M3!

Sunny: Yah, there were parade laps at a Laguna Seca event I ran at (let my buddy drive the ole tractor around while I slept), but they were speed limited, and as you said, no passing. I've never run the 'ole tractor at the CA Speedway, so I'd like to get a run there, in anger, if at all possible. If not too limited, I think even some at speed parade laps would be good recon.

Matt: thank you.

Parade laps around the speedway mean anywhere from 60-90mph based on the # of cars and no passing allowed in my experience. This weekend at the track is going to be very busy. Find out how long you can be out there and that will give you an idea... 15-20 minutes or hours? :-)
