Just saw two of them at Ferrari of SF. They are small. About the size, or a little smaller than the 355. With 650HP, they must be a rocket. In person the rear end looks a little funny, not like the pictures. I'm still out on the overall view, but so waht, I'll never own one, so what difference does it make.

Sunny, get the damn XJ220!

Sorry though, Id take an F40 over an Enzo I think...but in order to not ruin up this whole swapping deal, I guess I will "settle" for an Enzo :-) However, what about instead of an Enzo we can work in a good classic Ferrari into the deal. Ill volunteer to take the 250 GTO!

I'd rather have an F-50 for sure. But, I must be frugal and plan accordingly and settle for what I can afford.

My mechanic went to look at an XJ220 today, emerald metallic green that had an engine fire. Owner wanted it totalled and was tired of the car, bought new. Anyway, long story short, its definitely repairable with the largest repair bill being the surrounding paint and the rear glass. The mechanicals would be several thousand only to fix. If the owner managed to get it totalled, guess who's first in line to buy it back? LOL, yes the figure was 5-figures. Not going to happen though, if the claims adjuster/insurance person/whatever has any brains regarding what the car is still worth.

Sunny, we need to get Mosher a mosler... hmmm call it a "Moshler" :-) I'll pick up my F-40 and then we can talk about a 4-way swap. Somebody wanna volunteer to pick up a F-50? haha... within 10-15 yrs, all this CAN and WILL happen! :-)

Jordan and I have a deal. When I get my XJ220 and he gets an Enzo, we'll trade back and forth. We figure in 10-15.. years.. it will happen. I'll move to Irvine if the roads are paved.. I mean kept up.

What are you guys talking about? They repave my neighborhood streets once a year! Now I wonder where all those tax dollars go to :-)

Irvine, CA --home of the worlds most freequently repaved streets. I guess people dont like to get a rough ride in their SUVs.

Sorry Hubert, but that's what would happen if it got driven on the majority of never-repaved L.A.C. streets.

L.A. and San Jose tied for the worst roads, with 67 percent providing unacceptable ride quality.
Though L.A. edged out St. Joe by a whole $ in additional Operating Costs $706 > $705.

(Nationally, 25 percent are unacceptable, 43 percent are acceptable and 32 percent are good.)

Gee... I guess (thomas) you'd just diaper it, right? c'mon... who cares... it's a car, and one that just so happens to be at the pinnacle (for the moment); one day we'll all be dust, and then it'll be too late to say "...darn, i should have..."

Ron, I just don't get it. I'm sure it's an impressive car to drive, but I've been up-close and personal with it and I just don't think it's at all impressive to look at. Same goes for the F50. I was much more impressed with the styling of the Bugatti Veyron, Spyker C8 and Pagani Zonda.

I saw and inspected my first Enzo today. All I can say is WOW what a car. I got to look at it up close and even touch it inside and out, including the engine.

This one is actually being driven. It has 5300 miles on it and was in the shop for the 5000 mile service and getting readied for a drive of approximately 2000 miles over about 8 days.

This Saturday it is being driven from SLC to Tahoe for some kind of boat show. Then it is going to a rally somewhere (I can't remember where) then it is going to Monterey for the event there then being driven straight back to SLC.

Thomas, hahaha!

Matt would drive it everyday. Probably some others posting in this thread too.. or attempt to drive it on our quality of roads anyway.

Lets see, even at 5hrs for brakes on one wheel, thats some uncalled for expensive consumables huh? You could custom fab some. I bet Roland could chime in here. It can't be labor thats responsible for all that $$. Sensors? Gimme a break. Its called FNA stealing the silverware, including the plastic stuff and reaching into deep pockets and taking in there too change too.

I agree its fast. But you will need a mouthpiece to drive it on the streets or tune the suspension out of whack unless your on the track.

Drive an Enzo in L.A.? Head East, young man...

To avoid traffic, drive it down any chunk-style concrete side street in West Hollywood through Hollywood. Ignore the scars underneath the Enzo, as you lay back in the comfort of a chair during your emergency dental appointment to replace fillings which got rattled out.

Head on up the wonderous confines of the Hollywood Hills secret reservoir as you take those delightful frame-wreckers on side-streets just off Beachwood Canyon, up to a couple of hairpin turns tighter than a young Mother Superior before reaching the tilt-a-thon of canyon-hugging one-lane bump-n-grinders.

After somehow finding your way back, head east through Echo Park and tackle 6 sets of 45 cobblestone hills before your Enzo falls apart just prior to your assault on Chavez Ravine.

Admire your bill for a conservative estimate of $100K+ for damage inflicted on Enzo in just 2 hours.

This morning at 7:00 am I viewed my first Enzo in person at the Autogallery in Woodland Hills...my heart skipped a beat when I first laid eyes upon it. I asked the staff how many miles it had on it. Their reply was that the owner dirves it in LA on a regular basis. At least one owner out there is enjoying it.

If i had enough money for an Enzo, i'd have the Cross Bronx repaved... BesiDES, i wouldn't be driving it on roads like that; windy, scenic routes would be mistress... :-)

I think you're right. The quality of the roads all over and the traffic is getting worse. I think we need a massive WPA type program to fix the transportation inferstructure including mass transit. In addition to helping all of us it would employ a lot of people at a time that many need good jobs.

James:

You wouldn't drive it in LA. The roads are worse in California than NYC, and the potholes are deeper, bigger and most commonplace. If I had the Enzo, I'd have enough room on my property for my own track, and I'd drive it every day on that track.

Matt/Hugh
The problem is more specific to the Enzo. I agree F cars can be used every day. I used my Tr and my 308 as daily drivers. (my 275 was more of a sunday driver for me) The ground clearence in the Enzo and the front overhang make it a bit hard on NYC roads. (I drove my TR and 308 daily into the city.) The potholes would be pretty hard on a car with 3.5 inches of ground clearance. I don't think it would be drivable in the snow. (Both the TR and the 308 were as is my maser)
That said If I lived in LA. I might try to drive it everyday.
Just got back from photo shoot. The MK-IV loves those 2 lane, upstate roads. There's nothing like a honking 427 reving to 7000 as you drop down, pull out to pass, and squeeze the pedal to the floor. My car will be on the cover of "Vintage Motorsports" which will be out and distributed in time for Pebble.
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. You guys do rock.

James- how about this: you get an owner to give me the keys for a week -seven days- and we make a forza article out of it. how to take an enzo to the drive-thru and various adventures. i swear i'd drive it every day.

Guys
Trust me on this. None of you would drive an Enzo every day. Even though it does have AC. (no radio)
Driving an Enzo is a very intense experience. Intense experiences turn into nighmares on the pot holes of the cross bronx expressway.
Tomorrow at 6am. I'm leaving for a 200 mile drive
in my MK-IV. I'm heading to Lime Rock where the car is going to be photographed for the cover of "Vintage Motorsports" mag. At 6am. on the beautiful curves of R22 is where you want to be driving cars like these.

You guys are all effing wacked - if i had an Enzo, why the HELL would i go to Las Vegas...? Who the hell wants to gamble when you have, quite possibly, the world's best road-legal racecar sitting in your driveway...?

Who needs a date...? YOU HAVE AN ENZO...!!! i've passed on dates in the past so i could have a night alone with my Sentra or Saturn - you think i'd be out on the social scene trolling for ladies if i had an ENZO...? PSSHHHHHHHHHHHH...! You're all NUTS...!

Bart, i can respect your opinion and don't think any different of you - my first ride in a Ferrari was in a 550 and i can't even look at the car the same way; it totally blew me away... i'm just so ridiculously partial to the Enzo... (Um, can someone tell me where to fax this petition...?:-))

Oh, and Jordan...? Off the top of my head, i can think of three people who would drive the Enzo daily, if they owned one: Matt, Hugh & me. Hugh and i would have matching cars - black on black. :-)

matt- Thanks. All this hairspary is finally starting to rot my brain.

byron- C'mon, man. A 700k car; what's $700 for an oil change, and $30k for brakes. That's chump change. "... Yes, I'd like the Rothko in the south wing, the Monet in the north wing, and Kandinsky in the main bedroom..."

jordan- Me or matt?

Bart,
there will be no hanging here... not in person, not in effigy either. haha...

I agree with you about the enzo, not for the fact that there's no air or radio, but for maintenance. With the stop and go traffic around LA or the uneven pavement, I don't think I would want to deal with damaged undercarriage, brake replacement ($30k - ouch!), clutch job, or just about any other hassles associated with owning that car...

However, with that said, if any of us had that kind of disposable cash and were offered to have this "neat" trophy at our house, I think we would probably do it. I know I would! But for MSRP and and not 1.2M!

Enzo and date? well, good point. but I think you could probably park in front of ANY restaurant and expect them not to move it!

btw... you coming on the 12th? Bring the beast.

Bart- enzo's got air and a radio (correct me here). If it were mine, I'd drive it every day. for the record, and in my eye, it's the most beautiful ferrari ever built. regarding dates, etc. my car currently is louder, rougher and stiffer than, probably the enzo, and the old lady seems to love carting around in it, and driving it. lastly, anyone that cages up an enzo in a garage. heaven have mercy on your soul. again, black on black is my pic 'o the litter.

If I had the money for an Enzo, chances are I would have the money for my own private jet to fly to Vegas :-) Ron is right however, its not really intended for everyday driving. I would use it for weekend jaunts down some nice backroads...but not to shop at Walmart :-)

Bart, it's meant to be a "super car" not a grand touring or sports car. As such it is designed to be a "barely" legal street racer.

If I had the money to buy an Enzo, I'd fly to LV and not subject myself to 100 F desert heat in the middle of the day :-).

Same question from the other post. Who is doing your secretarial work?

Yes, it is fast
Yes, it is good looking.

Would I like to drive it on the streets? NO!!!

I just drove my 550 to and from Las Vegas in one day. Could you do that in an Enzo? No. No air, no radio, and my kidneys would be like an old truck driver. The Enzo is for the too-rich kid who wants a neat trophy at his house.

Can you go anyplace overnight? Not if you like a change of cloths, clean underwear in the morning, and would like to brush your teeth.

Can you go out to eat with a date? Not unless she is a Ferrari freak. Parking would be a bear.

To me it is a cross between a street car and a car for the track. It does not meet either requirement well. I will take my GT over it in a second.

Now all of you, would you please sign the petition to hang that Bart for heresy.
