The law states that the seat bealt must be self-adjusting to each passenger. Obviously, the 5-points need to be adjust to each individual. Hubert is correct about rollover protection. In a worse case scenario, your 5 points will trap you and be a way to shorten your neck. Another point to consider about 5-points is that 95% of the people who install them are doing it incorrectly. To make the anti-submarine belt (between your legs) effective, you must cut a hole into the cushion between your legs just in front of where your crotch is located on the cushion. Most I have seen mount theirs to the area in front of the seats and wrap the anti-sub belt over the end. This completely makes this anti-sub belt useless. The purpose of this belt is to prevent your kneecaps from impacting the dashboard. I've used 5-points on the street and they are not very comfortable. Most cops will not ticket you for using these harnesses as long as they are set up correctly. Brad |

No, not street legal. And unless you've got roll-over protection, you should not be using 5 points on the street, or at all. |

5-Point Racing Harnesses -- do they pass California seatbelt requirements so they're street legal? Will any dealer install them? Any recommendations? |
