All of you on the drive missed out on a very nice invite from Robert, his Ferrari collection is 2nd only to Mr. Microsoft. I suggest all that got directions from him at the lunch take him up on the tour. He is true Tifosi. Those in the LA area ought to look him up and schedule a stop to his Ventura home.
That Grey Mondial Cab (below pictures 5 and 10 from the top) is available for sale, Melissa and I put over 3000 miles on her this trip(Idaho-Monterey-LA-Idaho), a flawless performance. Each of the 3 drives we made with different Ferrari groups was a great pleasure.
Thanks for the good times
Erik & Melissa

Jeremy,
You need to stare at it for about 5 minutes in a bright light or sunlight then immediately look at a wall about 18-20"s away. The negative graphic will burn an image in your retina not unlike the old computer monitors. I see a green 3 dimensional enzo floating in space against the wall. The longer you look the stronger the image.

I will post one on the general discussion board once I resize the graphics for anyone who wants to try it.

On a side note Eric and Melissa drove up again in his cool 3.2 Mondial and we hooked up with James another F-guy with a cool 328 and went to a pizza pplace back in Ojai called "Bocallis", you guys probably passed as you left Ojai right before you got to the really twisty part going up what is called denizen grade. It was allot coller at 7:00pm!!

Anyway we had great pizza talked more about Ferrari's and had another great time. It is so amazing the people I have met through this list and others. Que magnifico!

I tried the Enzo optical illusion but could not get it to work. What's supposed to happen?

That was a great day! I really enjoyed meeting everyone. The only way it could have been better is if I had my car with me. But it will be shipping out at the end of this week!!!! A big thank you to Reiner and Roland for giving me rides! I hope we can do this again soon. Maybe a drive out by me in San Diego? There are a lot of great roads out here. Again, it was great meeting everyone, I had a blast!!!!

Wow what a day! My neck is actually a little soar from the stint in Bob's 355. The only thing better than a happy Ferrari owner is an owner who knows how to really use it. The man has skills. Leading the pack from up front was really cool.

Helping Roland load and strap the LM in his trailer was the best manual labor I've done in long time. Thanks to Sunny and Eric for the rides.

I was bummed that no one came to see my Ferrari collection, but after dropping you guys off in TO Eric Johnson and his girlfriend Melissa showed up at my house at 7:00! After the "tour" we went to dinner at a great local Greek spot. It was really good to meet them, what a cool couple, and after driving from Idaho to Monterrey to TO to Solvang to TO to Ventura to LA I have allot of respect for their endurance!!! What a great event Jean Louis and Byron!

It was so hot and quick I really did not get to meet up with many of you I had been looking forward to talking to, so hopefully next time.

What happened to the 2 gt4's, they never made it to Ojai? Did anyone try the Enzo optical illusion I handed out.

I had some Ferrari secret stuff to give away to all who came to see my shrine......so I will just hang on to it till next ride up this way!

Dayyam! Nice pictures!

I cannot begin to imagine how expensive it will be to register all those cars once the Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia's new triple-cost auto registration scheme goes into effect in October...

The Drive was a blast. Thanks all for participating and making for such a great day. It was sunny and beautiful and just an awesome day for a drive. What a display of cars and horsepower I can tell you that the 101, Solvang, Ohai etc never had it so good. The look of the people's faces and excitement was quite fun to observe especially when we drove several million dollors worth of cars through a VERY VERY poor and run down naighborhood. Everyone was very nice and courteous and this was by far the best drive I have ever been on.

Some of the highlights included:

Hearing the 355 scream down a tight canyon resonating the most beautiful exhaust note known to man against the canyon walls and trees.

Following on the Diablo's toe's through 5 gears of acceleration (and a little of 6th) to an unbelivable 160 in the road just past Solvang then slowing down and passing the police less than a 1/4 mile later *PHEW*.

Watching Byron's car get push started time after time. I'm sure Byron didn't find it quite so entertaining but to me it looked way cool..like he was was preparing to exit the pits for some hot laps on the race track.

Watching Roland's F40 scream by and shoot 2 foot flames out the back on throttle lift.

On another note I had to close my eyes and flinch as the crazy biker did a suicide lane pass up hill in a full tuck past all our cars while going over a hill that was completely blind. I think lady luck alone kept him from going head on with a pickup that was only a few hundred feet past the top of the hill.

Special thanks to Sunny and Jordan for sticking behind and helping us get my friends F40 fixed (as well as finding our path home). Sunny good looking out with the tool bag it definately saved the day. For any future reference it appears that the F40 has quite a robust engine mangement system. THe car started to overheat slightly and the computer instantly put the car in limp mode. Meaning no boost and no power. Even when the temperature returned back to normal and the car was turned off and restarted the computer refused to return the car back to normal operation. We applied the computer fix all and disconnected the battery to reset the ECU and Viola! Power restored! It makes me wonder how much Autogallery would have charged for that fix....
But this definately shows how much thought went into the F40. Ferrari wanted to make this car robust in the most extreme conditions and went to great lengths to safeguard the engine. This car never stops amazing me in how functional and thought out everything is. This car is an engineering marvel and is hands down one of the best cars ever made. Everything I could ever want in a car is in this car... from its ultra light weight carbonfiber construction to its twin turbo v8 which is easily modifyable to your hearts content (As Roland has demonstrated). You can double the factory horsepower with some bolt on parts without modifying the engine or replacing the engine management. Wow what a car!

Anyways thanks again all!

Jordon, Byron, Beth, Jean-Louis, Eldon ... great finally meeting ya' all. My wife, Diane, and I are looking forward to the next event, we we can spend some time with everyone. Our car ran perfectly, as we returned home ... putting 145mi on her (the longest trip so far, for the "new" engine)
By the way ... between the motorcyclist (running out of gas in the FAST lane), and the crazy Impala driver ... I glad we all made it to the Federal building in ONE piece!! Ohhh ... I guess we'll have to find another place to rendevous!?
Great group of people ... fun event!!
ps ... Eldon, my Diane had fun meeting your Diane.

BEST EVENT EVER!

Today was possibly the greatest day of my life. I got a lot of people to thank so bear with me!

Beth, it was great meeting you for the first time! Thanks for the ride up to LA. I finally found an aviation buddy to chat with at the drives! Cant wait to see your 348!

Sunny, thanks again for letting me ride shotgun with you in your XJ6 most of the day. Let me tell you all, Sunny has MAD driving skills and he pushes that car so well that we were never left in the dust!

JL, Thanks for putting together this great event and being a great host while hanging out at your sweet apartment in LA! I owe you and Byron dinner some night for treating at the Thai place!

Byron, thanks again for the ride back to Irvine! I just felt a lot better leaving my car down there so it really helped me out a lot. What Adam said about your car is entirely true! I just cant get that sound out of my head!

Bob, Thanks again for awesome ride in your 355. That car has a GORGEOUS sound and I just couldnt have been happier speeding around some beautiful scenery in a red convertible 355. A dream come true!

Mr. Roland Linder...It may have only been a ride for about 300 ft...but it was the ride of a lifetime and I really think it was a life changing experience for me. The whole atmosphere of being in your car --the sound, the interior, and being next to a driver of your extreme caliber was just almost too much to comprehend! Not every person my age gets a chance to ride in his dream car and I am extremely lucky to have had the short --but fulfilling-- experience! Thank you!

And last but not least, it was great meeting and talking to Bill (GORGEOUS 365!), Alvin, David, Daniella (dont forget to e-mail me!), and meeting up with old friends like Elden and Ron --its always a pleasure seeing you guys!

Anyway, from skidding around corners with a 360 in the XJ6, to tearing up the road in a 355, this event had it all for me and it was a very memorable experience! Thanks for everyone that made it possible and I hope to see you all again at the next FDC event!

Im sorry if I forgot to mention anyone...its been such a long day Im not sure if I remembered quite everyone, so just incase, please accept my apologies!

Enjoy the pictures!

Markus, which one would be the right question to ask... ;)

Craig, Byron made it back ok. We had to push a few times throughout the day but it ran with only a bit high on water temp (who wasn't..) but acceptable.

Great time, everyone! I'm formatting my lousy 20 pictures (I took more with other people's cameras than my own, thats my excuse!).

A wonderful day, thank you to everyone for making it such. Always great to meet new faces and awesome new friends.

Cheers,
Sunny

I GOT TO RIDE IN THE F40 LM!!!!!!!!!!
(just want to rub that little tid-bit in)

Let me start off by saying the entire day was the best. This was the third run I have attended and by far it was the best. Byron and Jean-Louis did an outstanding job organizing the event as well as making sure it went smoothly. And what a turn out of cars! 2 F40's, 2 NSX's, a small army of 348's, 2 360's, a Diablo, 2 Porsches, and a whole bunch more.
Lunch was great, the people were fantastic, yeah yeah yeah...Let me get to the real important stuff, the driving. Totally awesome. It's great to see so many different cars whose drivers aren't afraid of using them as intended. Where they fast? How's 150mph in a Diablo? But the best of all was the F40 LM. Roland offered up his passenger seat to any takers. I didn't think I could be so lucky as to get a ride, especially after seeing the two passengers he had for the first half of the run. Ya know, females, hard to beat that competition he he he. But after lunch I got my chance. This car intimidates you when you try to crawl in. But once in I was surprisingly comfortable (my luck being short). And you know, aside from the engine, I mean LOUD engine, the race car suspension, and the neck snapping power on hand whenever Roland wanted it, the car seemed, dare I say it, docile. It idles fairly smooth, temps never shot up. In fact Roland said he was actually running a bit too cool. All day through freeway traffic and stop and go lights the LM never fussed. She just ran perfectly as Roland patted the dashboard and said "Good girl". He put over 200 miles on the LM in the heat of the day and didn't think twice about doing it. Roland, everyone appreciates you coming and joining us for the day. I thank you for the ride. Next time let's really open her up. If you ever are in need of a co-pilot just let me know.

Just got back, what a blast... Thanks Jean-Louis, and Byron, it was a lot of fun and very well planned, so well planned that Byron loaned me his blond so that I wouldnt have to drive alone :-)
