Byron, Ouch$$ Would this be considered part of the 30K service? Oh well at least you will have some peace of mind that all is checked or new in that hard to get at area of the engine and all should be ok for some time to come. Sometimes the money spent to get that peace of mind is worth it.... well maybe!? -Kevin |

Hey Byron, Glad it seems to be nothing major (as far as engine damage, but possibly not cost ) to your car. Do they have to do an engine out? Glad it may be back on the road soon, I am craving another drive! -Kevin

Billybob - They were able to fix my starter problem by cleaning the connectors on the ignition switch. I'm told the other damage is my oil pump chain...waiting for more details. Hopefully, car will be done by end of the week. Yah, the $500 is a bit steep, but is still fun. It covers 2 people, so for $250/person, it's do-able. I will talk to the guys to see if we can work a FDC deal... you're right though, about the basic/advanced courses - the benefit is the instruction, and not necessarily the cars... for $6500, you can easily do track training at Skip Barber's or Derek Daly's... but I think that's about how much they charge for training on the Fiorano track using Ferrari Factory 360's. However, the one day $500 course, I'm told, also includes Costa's time in your car with 1-on-1 instruction, so that might be worth it!!

Jordan see my post on Fc on the two next track days. I'll be there. Matt has basically taken a new job and is in Texas I think. He was going to e-mail with a new address but I have not heard from him and his old phone etc are gone by now. he has spend many hours in my garage and is a good wrench. Mike where in PV do you live and what are you driving? [email protected] are neighbors I'm by the second hole of Los Verdes. Also your insurance is not the issue. You just have no coverage if you wreck it "at" the track. So what you do is tow if off the track. B...when are you getting your car back? Also the FX deal is that Bertucci is the hot instructor. However, from the website it does not sound like that great a deal for the basic and then advanced race course. Regardless of ability the basic is a prereq for the advanced cousre. So it was something like 2k for the basic and 4 k for the advanced. The basic gets you training in the 350z and ride alongs in the 360. The advanced gets you training in the 360. Sounds like money would be better spent at Skip Barbers. The 500 buck thing is like a trackday with food and a ride along in the 360C. Well not too impressed personally when you can have allday on the same track for $140 and drive your wheels off or have $200 for the 2 day weekend with Alfa Club. But if FDC can negotiate a better price... |

Tyson, No matter what we're currently driving (I drive a 'Vette too), we all have a love for Ferrari; and I've noticed that the folks at Ferrari Driving Club have been quite gracious in welcoming us non-Ferrari drivers to join in the fun as well!! -A |

Thanks for the info Byron. It looks as though the event marked on their calendar is for the 23rd of Oct. (Thursday). Any info if this is the same event? If it is truly the 25th (as you posted) or any future weekend, I may be game for this. Looks like a unique experience. -Kevin

Kevin, Their site is www.fxperformance.com It's easier to just give them a call... FX Performance 310.575.5663 Talk to Costantino Bertuzzi... The track day, I believe, is $500 for 2 ppl, fully catered for breakfast and lunch, with track instruction, and ridealongs with the 360 challenge. I'll talk to the guys at FX to see if we can get a bit of a FDC discount, but no promises there. B. |

Byron, Do you know if there is a website outlining the FX performance track day? It sounds very interesting. How's your car? It's too bad the ignition switch fix did not seem to last. I say go "Enzo-like" push-button, very cool for a former race car! -Kevin |

Byron, I never track. My insurance does not allow it. I heard in the FCA grapevine that he is going to be doing drive for the FCA. He did some great one of drives in 2001. You should get him back. He had some wild ideas. Mike |

I didn't make it to the picnic... and yes, Matt was very active in planning drives for the club. But for personal reasons, he is no longer involved. Do you ever do any track events? We have a small but growing group of so cal members who love to track their cars! |

Mike, No worries... no offense taken!! >> but I like to drive. << I love it!! Well, if my car wasn't in the shop at the moment, I'd be on the road driving as well! Don't get me wrong here... we love to drive and nothing's going to change that. The horseback riding was an idea that was tossed around during our last event (Roland Linder F40 drive) and the karting we did early in the year (April) - it was a blast!! Very competitive!! We'll get back on the roads soon... it's been a busy couple of weeks for many of us... and while the weather is good, we do want to get out as much as possible!! We've been hosting lots of drives in the LA area... thought it would be nice change of pace to go south to get more OC/SD guys out for some fun! What part of LA do you live in? Drop me an email and I'll be sure to provide you more details about the OC drive. |

Byron, What happened with Matt? I met him a couple of years ago at the FCA National event in Century City. I ran into him @ the Auto Gallery in Feb and he said he was doing events for the Driving club. Were you at the FCA picnic in July? Mike |

We plan on hosting a drive event... early october... possibly Ortega/Palomar. Also, there is a track event at Willow Springs that FX Performance is hosting the last weekend of October. I believe it is the weekend of Oct 25th. They will be bringing out their 360 Challenge cars - this is a fully catered affair where you can drive your own cars with professional instruction and ride along in the challenge cars! Look for a few other events in the November timeframe as well... possibly horseback riding and indoor go-karting. |
