Jordan-I love my job! but it is just like any other job, (a small part of the time):-)

Mike- Your welcome, would hate to see someone else get nailed. The Ferrari has front and rear detectors, unfortunately I was in my 300zx.

Adam- Thank you for the consulation. It has been over 7 years so I guess I had it coming?, bad thing was I was just cruisin talking to the wife with the cruise on!! Not a blatant speed run!! Oh well!! Of course I had to hear, "I told you so"

Time to get another Radar Detector!!

Is the Valentine the way to go?

Thanks guys

Sorry to hear that Paul, it just ruins your day when that happens.

I got a ticket doing 110 on the 73 south, just north of where is merges onto the 5, he wrote me up at 95, I was in the Porsche, not the Ferrari, cost of driving I guess.

Does anyone know the guy with the ice blue 360 (the one at Cyrstal Cove this morning) I was in front of him southbound on the 73 (I went fasttrack he went toll booth) I saw CHP waiting and hoped the 360 driver spotted him in time.

If you wish to go fast, Thunder Road is the place. The dealers in Newport do not know about this. Yipes!

Thanks Paul! You were busy talking to your neighbor, and I got sucked into the Lotus Elise (now making space for that beauty!) so next time we can talk.

Okay, on 73, here are the most common places I see CHP hiding:

Northbound:

- on the 73 connector from the 5 northbound, after you cross the 5 (and the highway is divided into two with a gap in between both north/south lanes) the CHP will face northbound, but can catch both northbound cars and southbound (who will already be busted by the time they see the CHP)

- the top of the hill just past the Greenfield exit, it's the last 'free' (no toll) exit, after you pass and start going downhill, the CHP will either a)be in the center (which northbound cars will already be going to fast to see the CHP to slow) or b) be in one of the 'coves' on the shoulder (not the shoulder, but a spot carved out for stranded cars). This is all before La Paz

- underneath the bridge that spans over the 73 of Alicia

- underneath the bridge of Aliso Creek Road

- underneath the bridge of (can't remember name) the road that spans over the 73 past Aliso Creek, but at the top of the hill before you descend into the Laguna Canyon area.

- bottom of Laguna Canyon in the center between north/south lanes.

- anywhere from 1/10 of a mile before the FastTrak detectors to 100 yards past the FastTrak detectors, all on the left side of the road (to catch northbound cars)

- as you pass the FastTrak detectors, as you start coming down the hill, on the right side in a 'cove' about 1 mile south of Newport Coast exit.

- on the Bonita Canyon onramp just in front of the toll booth.

- under the bridge just before the Macarthur Exit.

Southbound (same as above +):

- center dividing area just past the FastTrak detectors

- also hiding just past the FastTrak detectors, but on the side where toll is paid manually.

- In front of the toll booth getting on at Aliso Creek Road (before La Paz).

Hopefully this helps those that drive 73. I'm on it twice a day.

They do have nice watches. I have the lighter face. Come to think of it, I should have gotten black....since it is after labor day and all. Hmmmm.

DL - nice watch. What color face did you get. Dont they make two colors - a silver and a darker one? Both look nice. Westtime has a nice selection of watches.

Mike,
As a matter of fact I did. Baume Mercier Hampton Spirit on a brown strap. Good choice with the Fuchs BTW. Have you seen Dave about the nose guards yet?

DL - quite likely, I went to Barnes and Noble in the Westside Pavillion. Red / tan with a Fuchs. Did you get a watch. I am a budding watch guy. Just bought the Girard Perraguex Ferrari 360 GP watch.

Hey Mike,
I think I saw you on Pico a week or so ago. Red/tan with a tubi? I just had a feeling. I was coming out of Westime....6-ish.

Paul - thanks for the warning. Just last week I opened it up on South bound 73 and loved it - was planning on doing it again soon. But now will rethink that. Do you have a radar detector. I got the Valentine 1 a few weeks ago and it has already paid for itself a few times over.
