You know, Ive seen a bass in the shop that flew off of a car's roof rack on the freeway...and got hit by a truck. Know the worst part? It was an $80,000 285 year old bass :-)

It will never be rebuilt.

Hey Sunny,

I just don't have the ability to transfer it right now. If you like, I can send you the original MiniDV tape and you can have it transferred at a place like Lightning Dubbs. It's pretty boring though, the best bits were in the edit.

I have a lot of friends in the Carlsbad area, and my fiancee's sister lives there as well. Great area, but man is it expanding fast! (Every time I go down there, another entire hillside is being developed). Beautiful area though. I'm sure once you get settled you'll be very happy. Congrats again on the promotion and let me know if you want me to send you the tape. In fact, I know a guy in Carlsbad who can probably help hook you up with a transfer.

Cheers,
~Chris

Hahaha! Sorry to hijack the thread. Nice post, Chris. Thanks for the well wishes! :-)

I will be there 2nd November (Sunday), maybe that Sat, will do a drive with a bunch of MR2's and some NSX's towards Julian for brunch on Sunday and start work the next day. Staying with relatives until the dust around November and the move settles down and I'll likely be moving in with a friend in the Carlsbad area.

Jordan, don't you dare to 150mph with your bass on the roof! Thats my spot. Err, I mean, not without me in the passenger seat with a big SEG on my face. :-)

Sunny

P.S. I still want that full length vid, VHS? :-)

Too much aero drag, plus when you're doing 150+ you could get stone chips in your bass, or worse yet, have it fly off...

CUT TO:
Chris Driver's P.O.V. - a curious object whistles through the air ahead, a split second later WHOOMPH! Fade to black under sounds of screaming, crashing glass, tires screeching...

CUT TO:
Jordan - interior Ferrari. The car jumps noticeably in accelleration as if it just exited a wind tunnel. Jordan pushes toward redline even more with his newfound speed in a rush of excitement, then a thought dawns on him....uh oh! Damn that Sunny!!

:-)

Hey Sunny, hope you're doing well and enjoying San Diego

Forget it, go for the roof mount option. Because its a Ferrari, you'll be forgiven for finding a way for both passions to coexist ;)

American Concerto...I like the sound of that :-)

If I can fit my Bass in the Mustang, there has GOT to be a way to fit it in one of the larger Ferraris. If the 456's back seats fold down into the trunk, Im sure I could squeeze it in there. Anyone locally have a 456 they would let me try that out on? If not, Ferrari will build me the only Ferrari van that has the handles like an F1 car and has the speed that matches that of any modern super car. The Ferrari Jordan GT :-)

Hey Jordan,

Sounds like you've been very diligent in your studies and the groups you're part of - that's great! You're going to have to talk to Luca at Ferrari about designing a custom model for you and your bass someday, kind of like the Ferrari FX for the Sultan - to be funded of course by the rampant success of the Fox series "American Concerto" :-)

Hope to see you soon at the next event.

Cheers,
~Chris

Hi All. I'm new at F-Chat as well and was lucky enough to attend Sundays FDC event. You can see my wife and I in some of the pictures with my Boxster. Great time and enjoyed meeting everyone.

I just wanted to respond to Jun and Byron about stonegaurd.I'm the Dir. of Operations for Autobahnd of LA which is a competitor of Stonegaurd. My office is inside Ferrari of Beverly Hills and we have apllied this to many of their cars. If you have any questions or wanted to see a vehicle with the application, I'd be more then happy to make arrangements. I left some fliers at FX as well on Sunday with discounts for members of FDC. I don't want to sound like I'm selling anyone so I'll end it here. Just know that you have a friend and fellow enthusiast if you have any questions. www.autobahndint.com

BTW, I'll be attending in OC as well.

Chris, how would I do on American Idol as a bass player? I must introduce the teenagers of the world to the wonderful 18th century compositions for the bass...such as the works by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf!

Thanks Jun, my F-car priorities shifted this last year when I got engaged and I'm getting married in a couple weeks...still, an F-car is in my future (I'm turning my fiancee into a car enthusiast as well. My favorite design since childhood is still the 308 GTS QV, although now I'm leaning toward and will likely end up with a 328. My fiancee's favorite is the Dino. Hopefully someday we'll have matching F-cars to go with our matching Bimmers). Enjoy the car, and look forward to meeting you at one of the events soon :-)

Jerry, your 328 is going to be a true stunner...well, even moreso than it already is! Maybe I can buy yours in a couple years if/when you're ready to move up the F-line? :-)

Byron - entering a singing competition? Who knew? I've got some connections into American Idol...just let me know :-)

Jun, we met at the corner of Alton and Jeffrey in front of the Coffee Bean.

Ill most the details of the meeting location, times, and restraunt later on this week. Ill see if I can round up a nice sized group of people to come along to make your first meeting with an Fchatter a bit bigger and more fun. Nothing like caravaning around with a big group of exotic cars :-)

Earlier would actually be better for me as well since I need to be at a dress rehearsal for the concert at noon in Long Beach. However, if anyone has any objections let me know!

Byron, that location is great. Pretty central to everyone who may come.

Id say we should meet up in Irvine at 6:30-6:40, leave for Crystal Cove (driving through Laguna Canyon) at 6:45. We should make it there just after 7:00. Stay for an hour or two, then head off to breakfast. However, the show lasts until 9, so we can push everything back an hour if you guys want to sleep in a bit more :-)

Great choice on the interior, Jun. there is another fchatter that has a TDF blue 360 with the same interior as yours.... looks great! Now, all you'll need is a fuchs or capristo exhaust and that baby will roar! :-)

jerry, great job on the paint. How much did Napa charge you for the bead blasting (if you don't mind me asking)?

Oh btw, just checked my schedule... I should be good on the 25th as well. Barring possible need to be here in SF that weekend, I should be good for a caravan to CC and then breakfast... Jordan, do you want to set up some meeting points? :-)

Stoneguard is a product made by 3M, I believe. It is a clear film that is professionally applied to the body (usually the front end, behind wheels/fenders) and provides 1st layer protection against stone chips, etc... If done professionally, it is virtually invisible to the naked eye unless closely examined.

The speed lingerie product is a color-matched bra that is attached as other bras are... to my knowledge, they don't have a clear application yet.

I think it's personal preference at the end. I personally don't use either of them. My car is 3 1/2" off the ground, so I'm going to pick up massive stone chips no matter what. I would've preferred the stoneguard, but it would just get so beat up that I would need to constantly renew my application. I just rather let it get speckled, then respray the front bumper. I'll be around this weekend if any of you want to meet up during the afternoons... My car should be out of the shop by week's end. I'll go pick it up and we can go for a cruise. A few other guys that are in the OC area are Rob/Byron Faber and Bill Rose with his 365.

Jun, Ill get there around 7 and look for your car. Try and spot me :-)

To get a good space, try and arrive there at 6:30/45. Since summer is over, the attendance is down a little bit so you should have no problem finding a space even as late as 7. One of these weekends Im going to be die-hard and be the first one there and get myself a good space in the action :-)

Jerry and Byron, next weekend is fine for me as well. I have a concert that evening so I probably couldnt do a big drive, but having breakfast and maybe a short cruise after the show should work!

There is a Ferrari Rat Pack drive this sunday. Jun, there are a number of other guys in the OC area (Brian, Elden, Dom, Paul, Jerry... just to name a few)... we could all caravan on sunday morning to go to this drive, maybe?

Let me know. (you might want to get some stoneguard or a bra for the front end of the car in the meantime!)

Jordan - sorry, can't make this sat... I will be singing this friday night, so I'll be flying back to OC on saturday during the day.

Incase anyone wants to follow me, I usually leave for crystal cove around 6:30 and I like to take Laguna Canyon Road to PCH to get there. Chris, it was a bit scary but not as scary as when I drove my Testarossa home the first time. Big, no visibility, heavy shifting, etc. For me, the F-1 was really easy to get use to. I did keep stepping for the non exisitent clutch pedal when stopped at red lights. The more I drove it that day the more natural it felt. You're Beemer is a nice car, keep working hard and you'll get your F-Car!!!!

Jun, absolutely gorgeous car - congrats! Oh, I can't wait to get an F-car, but it's likely still a few years away. I was wondering what it must be like to get used to those F-1 transmissions. I would be intimidated as hell to "learn" on a 360 Modena that I just bought! I recall one guy on F-chat talking about taking delivery of his 360 and waiting until he had studied and memorized the manual before he attempted to drive it :-)

Cheers,

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Here are a few pics that I took at the dealer. They aren't the best because (I think I was too hyped to shoot some good shots!) I'll post more later.

Driving home for the first time with the F-1 transmission was a bit un-nerving. A few of my first impressions of the F-1 transmission. 1)Though you can't stall, you can really have some embarassing starts in 1st gear because of the sensitivity of the computer to accelerator pedal. 2)Down shifts are awesome! 3)You can dictate smoothness of the shift by adjusting how much pressure you apply to the accelerator. 4) Around town driving is great. Definately have to drive a different way, but not a bad thing. 5) When you really step on it, you hear the exhaust valves open from 2 to 4 valves it's a great sound! Overall very, very pleased. Next step.....upgrade the airboxes and filters to TUBI Carbon boxes and low restriction filters. Upload

Thanks Eric, I'll try to post some on Sunday evening. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and not get to foggy (misty).

I'm scheduled to take delivery at Ferrari of San Diego (in LaJolla) around noon. Then I'm going to drive (float) back to O.C. late in the afternoon. I will try to attend Crystal Cove next Sat. (Jordan gets first ride).

If you take delivery on Sunday, there is a drive behing hosted by FX Performance and the FDC So Cal drivers on Sunday late morning.

The drive will probably be through the afternoon, however, we can extend or possibly round up some action for that evening if your interested. :-)

A quick history. I'm a new F-Chat member. Starting posting when I was looking for my new F-Car. (Some of you may have seen my "Anyone know Exotics4less" post or "360 vs. 550" post)

F-Chat ended up saving me a lot of time and money thanks to great advice from all of you guys in the forums (You're a great bunch of enthusiasts!!).

After a long and careful process.....I BOUGHT MY NEW F-Car!!!!! a 2003 F-1 Coupe, Red/Tan, Daytona Seats, Shields, front and rear Challenge Grilles, 3-Piece Factory Rims, WOW I'm so amped right now I can't even type. I was lucky enough to be at a F-Dealer at the right time and BINGO! I'm scheduled to take delivery on Sunday (Darn, not going to get to drive it to Crystal Cove on Saturday. I will be there checking the other cars out and thinking of mine!)

Overall this post is for two things. 1) To thank everyone again for the sound advice and encouragement. 2) TO SHARE MY ANTICIPATION AND EXCITEMENT WITH FELLOW ENTHUSIASTS THAT I WILL HAVE MY NEW CAR ON SUNDAY!!! All we need now is a win in Japan and....and....and....holy cow, I don't known how much excitment I can take. Thanks everyone!
