Jerry ... my car's restoration has been an ongoing project. I've used various specialists for the work ... the engine rebuild was the last accomplishment. Carpets are next, since the ones I've got aren't 100%. They were re-done by the previuos owner ... but not very well. I'll have to decide who to use, also ... Prestige Auto Upholstery has been very highly recommended. It was great to meet you Saturday ... hopefully, I'll be able to do breakfast ,next time!

I must admit to being a bit of a 60's and 70's holdover. I can still listen to Hole and Eminem...but not around the house.

But pop on some early Bowie or maybe Tull/Aqualung and my alpha waves start running....

Fireman's Fund insures mine. I have all my cars with them. It was super cheap. I can get you in touch with my agent if you are in So Cal. But I think they want all the cars...not just the F-car.

I think I pay under $6500 a year for four cars. Three high perormance and one minivan.

Lest I forget I really enjoyed hanging with everyone. That red 575 at ferrari Orange County was really something...

Thanks Bill - Nice to meet you today! Love the car - Did you have it restored? If so, where? I am looking for a place to re-do my carpets.

If Mercury can't insure me, AAA is my next call!

Thanks!

Jerry ... I am a AAA Premier member, and they have tried, several times, to sell me insurance for my '69 F-car. Regular insurance...not the "collector" car insurance I currently have with Grundy. They say that there is no problem with the annual mileage, or stated value...no restrictions. Their price was a little higher than Grundy (as you would expect) Perhaps you should give them a call...

My insurance is killing me - The broker won't even give me a quote (mercury Insurance is the carrier) without me going down there today and having them take pictures of the car. They then are sending all the information to Mercury & they will let me know next week if they will insure me. I tried to get Hagerty & Leland, but they don't want to insure a Ferrari that is driven to work, that is why I had to try my usual insurance carrier - Mercury.

Hello ... I MAY be able to make the rendezvous in the morning, but would have to leave CC around 8am, to go to work. I'd sure miss most of the "gathering"...but would enjoy caravaning with ya'all. Probably won't know until later this evening ... perhaps I'll see everyone in the morning.

Kevin - Crystal Cove is on the Pacific Coast Highway, across the highway from the ocean. You will see the water from the parking area. It is exactly halfway between Laguna Beach and Corona Del Mar (Newport Beach). Best way from inland is to take the 73 (new toll Road) to Newport Coast Road. Take Newport Coast Road to the ocean (PCH) and make a left towards Laguna Beach. The shopping area (Starbucks) is on your left about 1+1/2 miles towards Laguna after making the left turn onto PCH. Make a left at the traffic light. You will see a sign designating Crystal Cove shopping area.

See you there.

The last few weekends (last 4-5), you could still show up as late as 7:30 and park in the prime area. Getting there at 6:30 isn't like it was in the summer where it'd already be packed.

You can call your insurance company and have something faxed over as proof of adding the car to your policy temporarily.. usually takes 24hours or an effective at midnight date after you call it in.

We want the F-car! We want the F-car! Give me the number, I'll call them for you LOL!

See everyone soon :-)

It is very difficult to get a place to park in the "prime" area at 7:00 am. That said, I think I will try to save a bunch of spots off to the side rather than in prime territory. Get there whenever. Enjoy. People start to leave around 8:30 am.

See you there.

LOL, the house is right around the corner, so I can at least show up in it, and then drive the jeep. :-) I would kill myself if something happened & I was uninsured & nobody wants that (I hope, lol).

I am literally 2 mintues away, so I can drive it back to the house real quick & get the jeep (Not sure if I can keep up to you guys in the Jeep Beast - The thing tops out at 75!).

Anyway, I'll cya tomorrow, bright & early! Hopefully they can put some of the fires out around here so that all the ash stops falling on my car!

well, at least show up to coffee bean... it's only around the corner from your house, then you are more than welcome to leave it at my house on the way out to CC and hop in someone else's car.

I'd like to see it and take a few snapshots. :-)

eh...besides, what's a few bills, right? I just got my bill for my major repairs - my wife isn't complaining. Oh wait, I'm not married. :-) ok, you have a point. :-)

Greetings from Hong Kong. Wish I could be there Saturday, but I'll still be sleeping on the plane when you guys arrive in CC.

Haven't seen any exotics here let alone any sports cars (e.g. Porsche Boxsters)

Jim, 10 or 12 spaces should be good. If all else fails maybe a few people will need to park close by. I just cant estimate exactly since some people will be riding with others and others may not be...I really appreciate you offering to save the spaces, but if it gets too late and you dont feel comfortable holding them any longer, dont worry about it!

T-bone, as far as the Side Street Cafe, Im hoping it will be fine...If all else fails though, I have a backup restraunt that would be great --nice location in the hills of Irvine, and good food. The only reason I hesitated to use it is because its back in Irvine --rather close to where we met up, and it seems more practical to find a local restraunt near Newport Beach.

Here are the people comming. I havent heard back from everyone about where they plan to meet us so please let me know either by e-mail (jordan747_400@hotmailcom) or in this post.

Meeting in Irvine:
Byron
Sunny
Jun
Jerry
Sam
Dom
Elden
Steven
Armen?
Kevin
Dave
Jay and wife

Meeting at CC:
Jim
Anyone else?

Just a reminder, please try and arrive in Irvine no later than 6:30 so we can depart on time and not get stuck behind garbage trucks on Laguna Canyon :-) If, however, you are running late, go ahead and give me a call on my cell phone (949-633-6394) and we can go from there :-)

Looking forward to it! Should be a great day guys.

Jordan - how many and what time? How many spots should I try to reserve (I'll simply tell everyone that I dropped a box of penny nails, accidently, on these 10 spots last evening while moving the pickup truck, 'cause the wife was drunk and chasing the dog, and it was raining when we got back from the prison, and while it's still dark (6:30 am), best that no one park here until it gets light and I can check it out real good).

I don't know if I'll be bringing the 288GTO to Crystal Cove. It's still in the shop. I thought it was going to be done today. (there is a hesitation at low RPM's.) Hopefully it'll be done by Friday. If it's the injectors, it'll be in there for a while. I'll still be there this weekend. Hope to see & meet everybody.

I don't know for sure what time i get back to LA, I am still here in NYC until my Yanks finish the series. I suggested the Duck because of the crass Harleys. If I get my homeboy's 40 in time, I'll bring it for sure.

The Sidestreet cafe is always packed guys, so you may want to park at the park on the street (Rochester?) that is on the intersection right there.

Standing room only as always there. Watch for the guys with "Hardly Ever son" motorcycles in full mid-life crisis mode, playing dress up in tacky leathers. I should roll the Ducati over and represent if I get back in time.

Yo, for those curious, http://www.testshoot.com/tim/me_me_me.jpg it's a Reynard, don't hold it against me.

Well, actually, I was thinking about tomorrow. However, I can save the spaces for the week if that works for everyone?

Actually, I will be there both days, so I will see a select few tomorrow, and the remainder of the riffraff next Saturday.

Should I save any spaces for tomorrow?

Yes, if the spaces are needed, don't save them (not supposed to anyway). The last thing we want is animosity towards the Ferrari group. It could have longer lasting effects than just the one day

Jim, I figure we will have 10-15 cars arriving at 7-7:15am. Realistically, how hard would it be to save 10 spaces off in a far corner of the "main" area? Last Saturday, the NSX group took up almost half of the back row (closest to PCH). I dont know what time they got there, but if they could swing it...

It would be great to save us spaces, but I dont want to have to ask that of you if it would be a real challenge...Might be rude to block off a section of the parking lot from the bruised knuckle hot rodders anyway :-)

Byron - How many cars? What time will you arrive? It is difficult, but as I live 1 mile from Crystal Cove, I can be there early to try to save prime parking. However, some of these hot rodders with long arms and scabs on their knuckles don't look kindly upon anyone speaking in multiple syllables and driving an Italian Olive Oil, and surely won't let me save 10 spaces in prime time, so let me know when and how many and I can try.

Amanda, come on down! It would be nice to see you again.

Samuel, if you can bring your friends that would be great! The more cars the merrier.

Brian is right, if we leave Irvine any later, we will get stuck behind garbage trucks on Laguna Canyon Road and thats no fun :-)

Can't wait! I look forward on meeting some new F-Chatters. I called a couple buddies, one has a 550 and the other a 360 Spyder. Hopefully they can make as well.

BTW, has anybody done the Temecula to Julian run?

Let's make sure we're all on time too...no fashionably late arrivals at the meeting point prior to our drive to CC.

Thanks for all of the hard work in putting together the details, you did a great job! This will be my first caravan/group function, I'm looking forward to it. It should be a lot of fun.

Ok, here it goes!

6:30am --Meet in Irvine in the parking lot in front of the Coffee Bean on the corner of Alton and Jeffrey in Irvine (map below). Hopefully we can get a nice sized group to meet up in Irvine to make our caravan a bit more fun.

coffee bean

6:45am --Leave Irvine and caravan to Crystal Cove via the 405 fwy, Laguna Canyon Road, and PCH. Either myself (whatever car I may be in) or someone else who has been to Crystal Cove before can lead the short cruise for those who dont know the way.

7:15am-9:00am --Kick back and relax at Crystal Cove. For those who haven't been yet, there is a wide variety of cars ranging from hot rods to our Italian Stallions :-)

9:00am-? --Take off for Breakfast at the Side Street Cafe (map below) via PCH and Newport Blvd. Unfortunately the cafe can't reserve space for our party, but I have been assured that they are expecting us and will try and connect a few tables so we can all enjoy breakfast together!

side street cafe

Here is who I have confirmed to go:
Byron, Sunny, Jun, Jerry, Sam, Dom, Elden, Brian, Steven, Armen (possibly your Brother-in-law as well?)

If possible, could those of you who plan on meeting us at Crystal Cove let me know that way we dont wait for you in Irvine. Can never leave a Tifosi behind :-)

Should be fun guys!
