Great event, I have also run many times. Wish they would allow motorcycles so I could run my turbo-charged Hayabusa. In the case of the TR the moron Dr I believe, had tires rated to 150mph on instead of Y rating. Tire overheated, and blew out .He began to saw the wheel in his best 1950 NASCAR style, caught a rut flipped over.He launched his wife out of the car killed her ,and disabled himself. Next he starts suing everybody . Just goes to show you just because we drive a Ferrari we do stupid things just like our import racer brothers sometimes . |

got enough to cover the cost of the car, just in time to put that money into our tv project I did get to keep the salvaged body of the car with the drivetrain, really a parts car now. I was thinking if I found a good gearbox to make that motor a mid engine config in the Ultima, I may be back in business soon enough. Probably a GTR body and take it to the SilverState |

As the name implies, it was parked on Wilshire (near La Cienega) across from Symbolic Motors, just past the Mobil station, when a big truck was making a u-ey, his momentum and load pushed the truck a little wide. The front bumper dragged across the driver's door, then the trailer hit behind the left rear wheel, pushed the car onto the curb where it was pinned in by a street lamp and the rest of the car was 'scraped' off. I am told it made a sound like a cracking lobster claw. I was out of the office on a production down at Fox, which went long, so I did not find out until later that night when we got back to the office and my car was gone, but bits of the car were still on the sidewalk. |

I have a wrecked 550 and was thinking of dropping the motor in an Ultima body and going for it. I also thought of doing the whole marine turbine engine or hennesey prepped viper motor with twin turbos spurting 1100hp, but I am broke, financing a TV show sucks! Maybe during the spring if we get tapped for another season. |

I always have . I 've seen guys in unlimited class (ex nascar vehicles) running race slicks. They have specific rating requirements for the higher speed class and they follow the rules. Personally I preferred mich Pilot sports on the Viper and the 996TT I ran.I don't even have possession of the 550 I bought so I don't know what's on it? check the website http://www.silverstateclassic.com |

James Yes a tire pressure monitoring system would be beneficial. Blowouts aren't usually detected in advance from a slow or medium leak. Blowouts are the most significant concern in these events and they do happen with oftentimes disasterous results. |

I've run it many times. Usually in 165 mph tech speed with 150 target speed. I just bought a 550. Need to get nice cage installed so i can run in May again. So few F cars run ..1 maybe 2 out of sometimes 200 cars. A DISGRACE! And they usually can't even run in the 150 class because they don't have a cage etc. |

IMHO no one should drive a car at that speed without a tire psi monitoring system. |

I had an old neighbor named Rick Doria, I think he had an average speed north of 180 mph over the entire run is highly modified corvette. Looks like fun but its about a 4 day committment to do the entire weekend. I would like to try it however, I recommend you send in for the tapes, they are very good. In one of the tapes a couple in TR blows a tire at north of 170 mph and unfortunately got killed. This thing is for real and its not for kids. When you are ready to really put the throttle down and keep it down for 30 minutes, then its for you. I don't have the balls for it, yet. |
