Hi Thank you Wolfgang and Wayne fore the welkomme!
I am not so god with these internet things but I will try to get some photos of the car new and old of the GTB. I was planing on a trip to Switzerland to go in the Ollon-Villars Hillclimbe in september, but the engin is aut of the car after a head gasket problem, and it was not so easy to fix, so I dont know, Zwimpfer raced there in 65 to a ferst plase in class and also in 67 to a second. It would have bin realy grate to go with the car to Switserland amd also the ferst race for the car since Sudan raced at Monza coppa acs TI 14 june 68.
But wat to do old Ferraris are not alvays working! But it has not broken on the road ,and that is moor than I can say abaut the 330 GT I had befor the GTB (it was also a Swiss car it was at the Geneva car motor show in 65 ch 6767 )( I like switserland wery much also,so a Ferrati with swiss history is someting special to me. Newer mind I restord the 330 GT completly but it brock ewer time I drowe it !( I got it in california in 89 in a box and wery expensiwe to)

Ciao

wolfgang,
you are so right, but sometimes it is really frustrating. i mean, love cools down if your wife always has migraine, isn't it ;-)

i'm going to anneau du rhin to the yearly track day of my dealer. i don't know about the anniversary of FCD baden-baden (see my other posting on an event calendar).

keep me posted about sunday.

Ermin,

I trust with you and the money you have put in your car. But: Its not ONLY a Mondial; its YOUR FERRARI MONDIAL!!! I know a few members from the FCD with F40, F50, Enzo and all the big toys. But this gents are NOT in love with their cars like we love our cars. So, don`care about and keep on driving your dream car!

Anneau Du Rhin: I have been there a couple of weeks ago but couldn`drive (was rent by Lotus/Elise Drivers). Are you going there with the FCD Baden-Baden 25th Anniv.?

Schwarzwald: I will ask my wife and maybe (50%) we can come accross on sunday lunch time to the Alemannen Hof/Titisee. I will let you know excactly till tomorrow - hopefully we will not be too late.

Stay in touch

about reliability:

of course i do not expect the reliability of a toyota, but my case is a very bad one even in the ferrari dimensions. with the fortune i have already spent in this car, which is still only a mondial, even if it's extraordinarely beautiful, and its maintenance i could have bought my dream car, a 365 gt4/bb ! or have leased a 355 spyder.

@wolfgang:
what happened? business as usual: bige-end bearing, alternator (2 times!!), clutch.
the major repairs i had overall in the 4 years:
- cats (2 times, but only once fixed)
- clutch (2 times)
- major gearbox damage
- broken gearshift ;-) it's true, nobody could believe it
- alternator (4 times)
- different electrical problems
- timing belt (regular change)
- cylinder head and camshaft
- bigend bearing
etc. (can't remember all)

i was on track only once up to now, last year in monza, will be again on july 7th in anneau du rhin.

about the black forest: yes, you are welcome. we will meet us at the hotel rmerhof (http://www.gasthausroemerhof.ch/ ) in Arbon at the bodensee (CH) at 10.00 am on sunday morning (departure time!). then we will head to the highway a81 singen/stuttgart for some speed feelings and then exit somewhere to the schwarzwald. we will have lunch at the alemannenhof titisee (see http://www.hotel-alemannenhof.de/ ), but i don't know the exact time.
in the afternoon we will head to freiburg i.Br. and have a coffee break. then we will drive home in different groups according to the directions where people are living.
if you or others are interested to join, let me know asap in order to arrange for the details.

Ggggrrrg, what the hell happened???
Are you driving with your car on race tracks?

Just a question about Funky Ferrari Owners Switzerland:
Are guests welcome for the drive thru the "Black-Forest" on sunday?

Ouch! That's a lot of money in repairs.
But I agree with Jens that those things are not uncommon to Ferrari owners.
Looking forward to see the mondial "in vivo" one day.

Trevi,

Sorry to hear that! Had a fatal transmission breakdown half a year ago. Spend a small fortune to fix it. Next is 40000km service later this year (As a Mondial T owner you know: Full engine out!)
But hey: If I wanted a reliable daily driver sports car I would have kept my 911! :-)
Still I never looked back after buying my cavalino because there is simply no substitute for a Ferrari IMO!
Best wishes to Zug!

hi wolfgang and ton

thanx for the welcome and the congrats. i apologize for the quality of the pics, they are taken from a video. as i have no experience with cameras and i never owned one, it is always difficult for me to get good pics.

i'm living in Zug, between zurich and lucerne, right in the middle of switzerland. the best location for thousands of beautiful drives ;-)

my mondial for sure looks very good and is very rare, and thats the only reason i still have it. it is a not a monday-morning make, it is a 2nd of january bit**! i already spent more than 30'000 euros on repairs in the 4 years i have it! this season alone i had already 4 repairs in 2 months spending about 5000 euros. aaargh!!

hi amar
yeah...i'm the one with the real bad story ;-)

if you plan to come to switzerland let me know, i'm always interested in meeting, that holds for all ferrarichat-members.

unfortunately, as i'm a newbie here, i can't make it for nrburg, i have read the huge thread and it sounds very appealing and professionaly organized. but i'll take it in my mind for next year and will try to motivate the members of our new group "Funky Ferrari Owners Switzerland" to join the meeting, if it is welcomed. this sunday we have our second meeting and are doing a wonderful trip through the black forest. i'll keep you posted if we plan further meetings.

Welcome here and I believe we also "met" on the owners' site when chatting about nice trips through Europe in our Ferraris. I still look forward to driving through Switzerland not too far in the future and meeting you there but meanwhile perhaps we'll meet at the Nurburgring meet?

Till then and warm regards,

hi jens,

thanx for the warm welcome. yes, you're right, you know me from the owner's sleepy ;-) site.
it seems that european owners aren't that active in the internet, especially also the swiss ones (there must be more than 400).
i like to be online for general ferrari discussions and especially for meetings and drives with other owners not too far away.

thanx, trevi

p.s. i own a '89 mondial 3.4 t cab in almost british racing green metallic

A very warm welcome to FChat! Glad you joined our "small" european community here.

Ermin,

I "know" you from Ferrari Owners Site forum, right? I was the one asking for sport exhaust options for the 348. This board is much more active than Ferrari Owners Site so more answers on questions here! :-)

And real cool of the Enzo owner to loan his car for the meeting, and all those "oldies" so cool.

1st AGM of Ferrari Club Switzerland
story & pics by Marcel Massini
8.3.03 Click here for Ferraris at the AGM

Switzerland has seen several Ferrari clubs over the past three decades. Some of these clubs had been officially authorized by the factory, others were rather small groups of enthusiasts and some were more the sort of a loose club of regional Ferraristi.

Following the new international marketing strategy of the Ferrari factory in Maranello it was decided that there should be only one official Ferrari club per country. Thats why three years ago the factory instructed their Swiss Ferrari importer in Nyon to form one new Ferrari club, the Ferrari Club Switzerland. It was founded on 17 May 2001. This is now the only factory authorized Ferrari club in the small country in the heart of Europe. All of the previously existing Swiss Ferrari clubs are no longer allowed to use the Ferrari logo, the Ferrari name with the long F or the Prancing Horse symbol.

A large number of members of the former Ferrari Owners Club Switzerland, the Ferrari Dino Owners Club Switzerland, the Club Ferrari Suisse and the Ferrari Club 1898 (based in the Geneva area) have now become new members of the only official Swiss club. At present the still young FCS has about 410 members. The Swiss importer strongly supports the new club as do most of the ten official Ferrari dealers in Switzerland. Six regional directors have been elected and each of the three different language areas (German, French and Italian) is covered.

The first Annual General Meeting was held in Solothurn, conveniently located between Berne and Zurich, on Saturday, 1 March 2003. Almost 200 members arrived on this beautiful day in the historic town. The meeting took place in the former Horse Dressage Hall, a huge building situated right next to the Baseltor city entrance. Due to the still chilly and unstable weather relatively few of the members arrived in their Ferraris. A total of 19 road-going Ferraris was seen on the parking lot.

The annual general meeting saw the confirmation of the president and his committee and Mr. Müller, director of the Swiss importer, also held a short speech. Following the AGM a delicious lunch was served and members were invited to have a look at a special display of carefully selected super rare historic Ferraris of the 250 era.

A 1953 Ferrari 250 Mille Miglia Spider Vignale was the earliest car in this interesting show. The second oldest Ferrari on display was Erich Trabers 250 Europa GT in race trim. This automobile is painted red with a black roof and still regularly entered in the historic challenge series by the 75 year old Swiss collector. From a collection in Zurich came a metallic silvergrey 250 GT LWB Tour de France Berlinetta, also a car that can often be seen in the historic challenge. There was a yellow 1960 competition SWB Berlinetta and a black 250 GT SWB California Spider with open headlights and no air outlets in the front fenders. Right next to it a genuine 250 GTO Series I, darkblue painted and with a lot of English race history. A bronze metallic 250 GT Lusso with black interior completed the group of 250s.

The main attraction, however, was a brand new red Ferrari Enzo. This was a US-Version with black seats and had been loaned to the show by a private collector. Many of the Swiss club members hadnt seen the new Enzo yet and with only a few days before the opening of the Geneva motor show and its official Swiss presentation there it was a good chance to have an early look at Maranellos latest supercar.

Most of the Ferraris in the spectator and member car park were relatively new models. One of these was a virtually brand new 575 M Maranello F1 whose happy new owner had taken delivery just the day before the annual general meeting. Oldest Ferrari seen in the parking lot was a fanatically restored 250 GT Lusso in metallic silvergrey and with a beautiful red leather interior by Luppi of Modena. Also seen were a rare 348 Challenge and a F355 Challenge.

The new Ferrari Club Switzerland offers a wide range of local and national activities for its members. It all begins in June 2003 with a golf weekend in the Burgdorf and Emmental area and a visit to the famous Kambly biscuit factory. Mid-August a rallye to Flims is planned as is a trip to Maranello in September 2003 with laps at Fiorano as well.

 Marcel Massini 02/03/2003
