Ja - no rush here either. I need to get a regular commuter and have a house to buy!

That is so true. The prices of the 456 gt are at it's bottom. But on the other hand it remains an expensive car to keep. And what should I do with a second familycar (I would like to keep the Beemer as a daily driver). I will give it a few years to sleep on it.

Ross/Ton,

Debs and I have also been considering a 456 as a "family car" (i.e. there are only two of us). Prices are fairly tantalising right now...

ton, actually the profile menu doesn't allow you to distinguish between formerly owned, and currently owned....i sold the 348 to get the 512tr. i was looking to add the 456 as a daily driver. unfortunately i have had a number of events delay the purchase, but the upside to that is that the prices have crumbled.

Ross,

That makes it clear! It can be a wonderful opportunity to buy a nice, clean 456 mgt. We considered buying a 456 gt (which are about 65000 now) after reading a very good article on them in EVO magazine. But we decided to buy a 328 now and consider a 12 cylinder Fcar in a few years. I read in your profile that you already have the pleasure of the combination of a 8 and 12 cylinder Fcar. Will you have the 456 on top of that or instead of the 512?

regards,

Ton

his problem is that the ferrari dealer will only take it from him if he buys another ferrari, and what he wants is an sl55. the mercedes dealer is bidding him such a low price for the exchange that he doesn't want to go there either. so he has been trying to sell it personally, but this is always difficult with a ferrari in this price range.
quite frankly, although i know him, he is more a friend of a friend, and i have some interest in eventually buying the car myself. so the fact that he is having a difficult time is actually potentially in my favor when i get ready pull the trigger. its a hard world !

Ross,

Your friend could also use a Ferrari broker like Dennig Cars Worldwide to find a buyer: http://www.dennigcars.org

Ross,

The 456 MGT is a car that is not very well sold through private sales because of the high price and a relative small group of admirers (for this beautiful car). I think that your friend would have a good chance to sell his car through a certified Ferrari-dealership. That is where people in this pricerange would go for a "secondhand" Ferrari because it feels more secure.
On the other hand, did he already try to post it on Mobile.de?

it's crazy...

the highest price for a 456M GT I saw in Germany was 129 000 Euros (!). Normally, the price is about 110 000 for a 1998 and up car, no matter how many km the have.

Buy one in Germany ;)

Glad I could help you

ok, looks like the asking price should be around chfr 150k. this is about what he has been asking for and gotten zero response; which is probably why those sites had so many cars listed in them.
thx

I just found this one...maybe it helps

http://www.mobile.de/cgi-bin/search.pl?CountOff=1&DataNr=0&DisplayDetail=11111111116363631&DoSearch=1&FormCategory=0&FormColor=%2e%2e%2ebeliebig&FormDate=0&FormDurchmesser=0&FormEZ=%2d&FormKilometer=%2d&FormLand=CH&FormMake=14&FormModel=456&FormPLZ=&FormPower=%2d&FormPrice=%2d&FormSort=0&Page=0&SearchCat=bereich%3dpkw%26sprache%3d1&bereich=pkw&sprache=1&x=46&y=10

or check http://www.autoscout24.ch/. Just pick Ferrari out of the list "Marke" in the orange box (do you speak German ?) and enter 456 in the "Typ"-field. There are lots and lots of 456 with suisse prices.

and the last one:

My opinion: Cars in Suisse are worth more than "non suisse cars". In general, all you can buy there is not really cheaper when regarding the rest of Europe.
