Yes Sebastian, that sounds good. Something else I have been thinking of is a database of GPS Waypoints (Latitudes & Longitudes) of interesting places, locations or venues. If, say, the "Beautiful Sunday Drive" gang decide to meet at filling station "X" in Bonn, then giving the Waypoint would eliminate all potential confusion as to the address and location of filling station "X" (for those of us with GPS receivers )! On my two Garmin GPS receivers I am also able to create and or record complete Routes and these could also be uploaded and shared with those who want to drive the same roads. When organising the Nürburgring weekend, for example, Waypoints could be provided for the hotel(s) where people are staying, the entrance to the circuit that will be used, secure parking space, and so on. A GPS is like a mobile phone / handi - once you start using one, you begin to wonder who you lived without it for so long! Later, MARK |

Mark, I like the idea. I'll think about it next week. Can't make any promises, but maybe I got a way. Another thing I thought about last week was to create a little forum to organize meetings like the "beautiful sunday drive". Would be more comfortable to navigate and organize than what we have here at the moment. www.car-elite.com www.ferrari355.de |

You know what guys, we should create a European database of all of the best vendors to use, the most trustworthy dealers, the most dedicated mechanics, where to get hard to find items and so on. Having to search through archived threads at some time in the future will be no fun! The database could simply link to relevant threads. Anyone out there have the time and inclination?? MARK |

Sebastian, That's great, and even cheaper than the UK - maybe I'll get my wheels done over there! Hope it all goes well and I'm glad you can say bye to the inflated prices and timeframes of the others... Have a good weekend, Amar |

Visited my friend today...he told me that the rim will be easy to repair, costs about 40, duration 2 days. Felgenklinik, Aluklinik? Never ever again... www.car-elite.com www.ferrari355.de |

*g* Ton, I don't think they'll believe that But tomorrow I visit some old friend. He's got a tire shop and maybe he also has got an idea where I could let them repair. I know about the Ferrari thing. All the people hear is "Ferrari" what means "not cheap" to them. I always have to laugh when people (who don't know about the 355) tell me about f-cars and how expensive they are, although they own a SL 55 or something in that area. The 355 is much much cheaper to buy...but: Ferrari = Expensi"F"e www.car-elite.com www.ferrari355.de |

I also agree about the F-word. My last bill was 2600,- for just some minor things! If I bring the BMW to the garage they never let me pay more then 500. It is absolute madness. Remove the Ferrari cap off your wheel and tell a local alloy repair shop that the wheel belongs to your '81 BMW convertable. Ton |

Sebastian, Agree with Jens' approach not mentioning the F-word and going to regular dealers and repairers. Also, surely the Ferrari club (FCD) will know wheel repairers? The UK club's newsletter and the members' forum on the website have plenty of information on non-dealer shops. And 150 Euros is the highest price I've heard here, the lowest is less than 100 Euros. I also cannot figure out the ridiculous timeframes - is it possible they misunderstand the extent of the repair? Here you can take your car to the shop and pick it up the next day depending on how busy they are. Regards, Amar |

Sebastian, Cant tell you about prices. Magnesium? Mmmm, perhaps just the bad F-word you mentioned to let the prices rise a bit. Dont know. Perhaps you just try to keep on searching for a while. I guess there should be some place near you where you can let them repair the rims. This would at least save you the money for shipping! Perhaps you phone your local car dealer (Daily driver: BMW or Mercedes dealer)without mentioning that you have Ferrari rims, tell them about the damage and ask whether they know a good place to fix it! Here in Bonn I always call the BMW Niederlassung since my daily driver is serviced there. Mostly they can help me with some kind of adress. Another chance would be to phone Car part shops where they sell these bling-bling rims. They should also be able to tell you about possible adresses Always remember: Dont mention the F-word or its going to be expensive Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Me again...the second result arrived this morning. I can't believe it...again 200 for the repair, shipping included. It seems that their main problem is the material, the "magnesium". Am I wrong or is that the right material the rims are made of? Next thing is...the duration is 4 weeks. So I think I'll take the first one, although the second one is cheaper. Amar, I don't know why these Germans want that much...? :...-( www.ferrari355.de www.car-elite.com |

Sebastian, What you have been told does not sound right, unless the damage is deep into the wheel. The maximum price I heard for such wheel repair in the UK was 100 (Euros 150) and it could be done in 1 day; some companies even send a man with a van to your home to do the repair though the quality is uncertain. Hope you find a cheaper and faster solution! Good luck, Amar |

The first results came back yesterday evening - thanx to Jens again. Price for a repair is between 200 and 250 , duration 5-10 days. Thats much more than I thought it would cost...but I think a new rim is a bit more expensive Problem is: I need a rim for the time till the damaged one is repaired. Otherwise I can't drive... Let's see what Mr. F. can tell me on the phone this afternoon, maybe he's got some cheap used f355 rim. www.car-elite.com www.ferrari355.de |

Sebastian, That doesn't look like a hugely expensive repair (unless the damage is deep into the wheel), at least compared to buying a new wheel - here in the UK it should cost 60-100 (Euros 90-150) if one uses one of the good non-dealer outfits. Good luck! Ciao, Amar |

Sebastian, Take a look at these websites: www.aluklinik.com www.felgenklinik.com They should really be able to help you. Propose you just call them and ask, perhaps mail your photos for a "Kostenvoranschlag". The repair should be cheaper than to buy a whole new rim, I guess. Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Thanks for your help guys...hope there is a possibility to repair it soon. I'm glad the tires weren't damaged because they were mounted only 2 weeks ago. Yes...the spider looks really nice...but wait until you hear it :-) The interior colour is called "cuio", very rare colour and only a few F 355 Spider were ordered with the black/cuio combination. And there is another special...this 355 has no "metallic" paint - it's just the so called "uni". Has this "deep" effect... www.car-elite.com www.ferrari355.de |

Sebastian, I know for sure that there are shops where you can "repair" your rims. Sadly I cant give you adresses right now since have forgotten the details. Will hear around and get back to you after some days... Search the archives about rim damage or post exactly the same pics at the "Technical Section" of this board! You will at least get some responses whether its worth or possible to repair. Hoped that helped a bit! Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller P.S. Very nice 355 Spider! The interior is called "Cognac", or not? Looks great combined with the black exterior. |

Sebastian, I guess I am of no help because I have no idea where you can have them repaired. But I can imagine that you feel terrible about it. I hope that you will have a solution shortly. btw beautiful 355! Ton |
