Allright, this all sounds great!!! I just announced this event to some people from the Ferrari Club Belgio and I will see if we can get some additional cars through them. I was wondering how many Belgians will attend by now, maybe we can meet up somewhere in Belgium before hitting the road!! Only problem left is; I don't own a Ferrari yet so probably I will clean the road by following in my Benz if I don't find somebody who wants me as a co-driver / sponsor...
Spread the word around and we keep eachother informed!!!!

Forza la Passione!!

Dirk,

It would be great if you could join us. The more the merrier. Bart Boonacker will also join us as a non-owner. I agree with Jens that the most important factor is the passion.

Come and share the fun (that sounds like a commercial)

the Nurnburgring is only 300 kms away, and on that weekend there aren't really that great events going on somewhere else

Ton,

With some luck and good weather there could be more than 20 Ferraris showing up at the Nordschleife on the 21th of june.
Surely a nice motive for a picture if all of them are parked side by side :-)

Jens,

I think that Amar is right! If the weather is nice probably more people want to join at the last minute. It is impossible to wait for that. Even with a minimum of 10 (!) Fcars the meeting will be a succes.

Amar,

Glad to hear from you again! Sadly I am also very, very busy as well at the moment. :-(
What I can tell you right now is that everything is going to be like we planned. I will make the appointment with hotel, Ring management and everything somewhere next week since I hope that I wont be as busy as now.
We still "only" got around 10 Fcars togehter although at saturday another 10 to 15 Ferrari drivers from the south of Germany want to join for the Nordschleife (Wolfgang, Heiko and Sebastian from this board for example).
Manu also promised to bring several of his mates with Fcars to the meeting but couldnt tell until end of march.
I promise to post definite prices, times etc. about the whole thing next week at this thread!

Hi Jens,

Long time no speak, I have been travelling and swamped with work. What news about our Nurburgring meet - are the dates certain and do you have further news about how many are coming, where we are staying, etc?

I see that many new people have joined the European group lately - welcome and hello to everybody! Not bad considering this section was started only 4 months ago and it's already so popular. Again I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody in June and to having some great fun together on the track and off it.

It's sunny here in London and hopefully it will be nice weather for some fun driving this weekend after too many weeks of relative inactivity for the 360...

A presto,
Amar

So there will only be 360 challenges ? and no historical races ?

But anyway , there should be a lot of Private ferraris no ?

I think that's not true, sorry to disappoint you, Andrew. What you mean is the anual Challenge Day in August, but that's not the same as the Racing Days.

This event only takes place every second year, then combined with the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge. Know that from Ferrari Germany, should be the truth.

They say that there will be a Ferrari Days @ the NRing in august .

And this is not the Modena Motorsport one.
I hope its true !

About the second event organised by Ferrari it self , i think i read that on barchetta.cc .I have to check that though to be sure .

I hope i can make it again this year as last year was an awesome event , too bad we didnt meet though !

Thanks again !

Sebastian,

Would be nice to see you at our meeting or at the Modena Motorsport event.
Spoke to Heiko yesterday and he told me that it might be possible that some of your folks from BW are coming at saturday to join us for the day with their Fcars. Perhaps you would like to come as well? All of you are welcomed for sure!
As soon as I get the invitation from Maranello Motorsport I could contact you. Their wont be any special programm though. Just the different track sessions (F1, Prototypes, Normal Ferraris, Classic Ferraris etc.) and a Concours d'Elegance price for the best classical Ferrari.

Jens, you're right - the next Ferrari Racing Days at Nürburgring will be - sad but true - in 2004. The 2003 event was great...but I think that your organised program can even more convince.

Will contact you again for more information about this Modena event. Would like to go there

Ton, I think I will be there Thursday and Friday, since it's almost impossible for me to get free from work @ saturday and financially it isn't possible to go three days.
And I wanted to join everyone on the kart track of MS, been there once but that was only when we were looking for Ralf's outdoor track to kart.
You'll be there everyday ?

Andrew,

Indeed there will be an event organised from Modena Motorsports at the 23th to 24th of july this year.
I will be there since there is the possibility to drive on the Grand Prix track for both days with your Ferrari (Just Ferraris and Maseratis are allowed on the track).
I have been at their event last year and it was great since there are around 20 Formula One Ferraris from Jo Volantens Ascari car up to Schumacher F1 cars from 1998 etc which are actually really driven by their owners on the track!
Its absolutely cool to get to these cars so close since there is no restriction to the paddock.
Last year there was also the Kelleners Porsche team with its prototype racecars, a damn fast McLaren F1 GT and of course a F50 and a F40 LM as well as the Maranello Motors F360 Challenge team who took the clients on rides with the F360 Challenges.
All in all a great fun event although you need invitation who normally only clients or fellow Ferrari owners get.
Again: If you want to come just contact me before and I can manage to get you in for sure.
About the official Ferrari days I am not so sure though. As far as I know they are only organised every two years so I think Ferrari Germany is not doing anything at the Nürburgring this year!

Hello everybody,

The definite date for the meeting is now set: 19th to 22th of June,2003
This is the decision of the people who wanted to take part and told me so via mail.
Since the times for free practise at the Nordschleife are a little bit shorter at friday I slightly changed the programm at that day.
Once again I will show you how it might look like:

Provisional Programm:

Thursday:

Till 1500: Individual arrival at hotel
Rheinhotel Dreesen or
Gstehaus Petersberg
Around 1630: Corso with the cars to Schumachers cart track where the indoor track can be used for some racing with carts to warm up for the next day.
Afterwards or before: Guided tour through the personal Schumacher museum with a collection of some of their F1 cars etc.
At around 2100: Drive back to Bonn to have some Klsch at a beergarden directly at the river Rhine or at a nice wine yard near the hotel.

Friday:

Drive to the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in a corso via a nice route through the Ahr valley
Lunch at Steinheuers Restaurant in the middle of the Ahrtal in Bad Neuenahr (2 Michelin Star restaurant)
Around 1500: Guided tour through the big Nürburgring Motorsport Museum at the Grand Prix track
Between 1730 and 1930: Free practise at the Nordschleife
Around 1800: Drive back to Bonn in Corso via the valley of the Ahr which is a nice wine area
Around 2030: Dinner at the "Il Punto" which has been the favourit italian restaurant of Helmut Kohl. The italian owner will definitely organise something nice for some Ferrari tifosi

Saturday:

Drive to the Nordschleife in a corso
Free Practise the whole day again to really get to know this tremendously difficult track better
Around 1600: Drive back to Bonn with a small halt at the most well known wine yard of the Ahr the "Deutzerhof" with a small wine degustation if possible
Around 2100: Farewell party at my appartment with an italian Buffet and open end

Sunday:

Individual departure
or visit of the famous Beethoven Museum in Bonn
or The small but nice Von Trips Racing museum in Kerpen
or Free practise at the Nordschleife

Costs:

Hotel: Gstehaus Petersberg (5 Star hotel) or
Rheinhotel Dreesen (4 Star hotel)
Costs should be around 130 Euro per day and room incl breakfast. Group discount
is possible so the more people attending the cheaper it will get

Track fee:
1 lap: 14 Euro
5 laps: 56 Euro
12 laps: 143 Euro
Again it might be possible to get a group discount.

Travel expenses, food, drinks, etc:
Depends, museums should be around 5 Euro, cart rental
around 80 Euro.

What I now need is the definite confirmation of the people who want to attend to arrange or talk about group discounts with hotels, museums, restaurants etc.
So everybody who wants to attend please shoot me a very short mail to let me know (Yes, I know several have done that before but now its getting serious!).
As I said before we have around 15 Ferraris and their owners plus guests who are interested. Although size doesnt matter it would be great to have a group with around 20 Fcars so there are still some places for interested Fchat members...

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller

I understand, if you get the chance I learned on a disused Airfield where there was nothing to hit if you overstep the limit, you will find the 328 a dream though, very predictable and nimble, more so in my opinion than the 355

If you are free on 26th feel free to come to Spa for passenger rides, I know 40 of the drivers going so you could have rides in Ferrari, Porsche, Caterham,TVR, Noble etc etc

Mark,

Thanks for the offer but I am not sure yet. I just bought my first Ferrari and I am a little scared to take it on a circuit. I have heard all the stories about the addictive side of trackdays but I also have the fear of ruining my car because of improper use. Maybe I should learn to drive it on a track first?

I'm a bit of a trackday fan so keep an eye on whats going on

there are two sites that list all UK days and European days that are organised by UK companies

www.pistonheads.com
www.circuitdriver.com

I won't be at Spa on 27th as I need at least that day to drive down to Austria for the Wednesday, I will be there all day on 26th though

it's a trackday, not Ferrari specific 80 places available, 54 on track at once I think, I've booked through Easytrack.co.uk as part of their tour also to the A1 Ring. The day at Spa is actually being run by Autotrack and they are at Spa on 27th as well, I can't trace their website at the moment but will do so if I can find it., think the cost is around 175 for each day

There's also some days coming up in September/October for around the same price

I will send detailed mail as soon as possible. Have checked several hotels yet and will make the final decision about it in some days. Think I will follow Amars advice and choose a hotel slightly outside.

The trip looks great and I will definately be coming along if its in June. The May dates are out for me as I'm on holiday
Plus the June date is only a week after the yrly pilgrimage down to LeMans......Fantastic!!!
Was wondering if this is a pure Ferrari trip, I have a mate who might want to come who presently has a 996 but by June will be the owner of either a 996 Turbo or a Ghini Diablo SV
Looking fwd to seeing the final trip deets!

Hi everybody,

I am back from Maranello now! Presentation was quite impressive although all people were only speaking italian.
Thanks Amar for making this possible on such a short time for me! :-)
Really a nice trip to Italy for me!
Route back was fantastic! Nice weather, blue skies, white mountains in switzerland especially at Lugano, Bellinzona and at Vierwaldstttersee near Luzern.
Before I left I went to Galleria Ferrari which was quite nice: They even showed the parts which broke inside of my 348s transmission!
Did the route from Maranello to Bonn in seven hours and thirty minutes! Really good with a BMW Z3 with 140hp.
Anyway back to the main topic! During this week I willl send all of the 100 european Ferrarichat members a mail with all the exact data about the meeting.
Everybody who is actually interested should tell me which time of the two he/she prefers.
The majority will decide then whether we will choose May or June for the meeting!
All other details will be given via the mail as well!

barriers but you have to ask for invitation. This
event is only for owners + codriver and/or mechanics, not for common spectators. That will guarantee more fun! We will have participants from
many countries like the UK, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland....come and join us.
You can drive your Ferrari several hours on the GP-circuit in several classes: modern Ferraris, classic Ferraris up to 1973, Formula One Cars and
some outstanding sportscars of different marques.
I would help to get HOTEL or B&B near the "Ring".

As long as it still takes place then I'll be there, 1 or 2 days for sure

Jens,

I only have may 24th and 25th available. That way I would unfortunately miss half the event! So my preference would still be June. Why don't we plan a nice long tour on friday through the German/Dutch/Belgian countryside with some nice stops for lunch and/or some drinks at scenic places. Then we could drive the Nordschleife on saturday. I will be very happy to help you with the organization for this friday tour.

But of course the majority decides. I am really curious what the date will be.

Hi Jens,

May 22-25 may be great for me. The 26th is a Bank Holiday in the UK, so if Nurburgring is open Sunday we could do all day there and go back Monday.

Ciao,

OK guys,

The opening times for the Nordschleife are out!
We could stay with the time 19th to 22th of june. Only problem is that on friday the opening time will be just from 1715 to 1930 (Would rearrange the schedule to fit with these times, of course!) Saturday and sunday the track is open the whole day!

After checking out the other times we could also switch to the 22th to 25th of May, 2003. At this time the track would be open to the public use friday and saturday for the whole day.

For me both times are fine so I think you should decide what time you are prefering!
Any opinions or preferences?
What about Martin and Mark Collins? Perhaps you could arrange to come up with us when switching to the May times?

Is there a possibility that more Ferrari's meet the group on the 4th or 5th? Or is it more or less a private meeting?

If this is possible you can definitely sign me up for the 4th and 5th of July. Cologne is just around the corner for me.
Would be great to meet up with all the others!

Damn,
I will miss that I guess.
Marion has a summit in Berlin the last week of May. She is off that Friday and will join me in Monaco for the GP. We will them drive over to Maranello and do the tour and drive through Tuscany. I had hoped for the weekend after the GP Monaco. That would have been a nice finish of a tour.
Next time?

Bart,

Of course you can bring a friend or eventually girlfriend with you!
The more the better!
The Zolder fee isnt that high compared to the Nürburgring Grand Prix track. Nevertheless we still need some guests who definitely want to pay for Zolder to make it affordable.
Lets wait and see.

Jens, great job, well arranged plan.

I hope that by June I got some spare money left so I can stay 2 days, 3 days will probably be out of the question. I'd love to stay the 19th and 20th.
I'd love to go to the MS-kart track @ Kerpen, I've already been there once but it was closed that morning and we had to continue to the outdoor track.

You can already sign me up for the 20th, because I really want to attend the meeting on the Nordschleife. I hope I can get my father to sponsor me a bit so I'll be able to stay the 19th aswell. I'll try to arrange it as soon as possible and then I'll let you know.

Would it also be ok if I brought a friend with me ? or maybe by that time a girlfriend who loves Ferrari's :-)

btw. The website of Zolder said that the rent for 1 day was 7260,- and then the sound was limited to 95 db.

Amar,

Actually the Gstehaus Petersberg (This is the hotel where the two Afghanistan peace summits where held)and the Rheinhotel Dreesen are slightly outside of Bonn.

Nevetheless Bonn is a fairly small city so traffic jams arent that bad.

It is really much fun to organise the event for me (Better than to work instead :-))

May I propose that all people on the provisional attendance list give me an additional "Yes" here at that thread when they know that they definitely want to take part? (Except for Ton and Amar from whom I know they want to come!)
Would be great for the planning (Group discount, guided tours etc.)to have a rough number of people and cars.

Jens,

It is amazing - all this effort you are making and the things you are organizing! Many thanks once again.

The programme sounds excellent and varied. One small suggestion is to find a hotel slightly outside Bonn, maybe a charming country hotel in a location that helps us escape rush-hour city traffic.

A presto,
Amar

Ton,

I will also produce a personal programm brochure for everyone with a very detailed track description of the Nordschleife, the programm, profiles of the people who attend etc. Can do that my own with the computer. As soon as I have some definite "Yes" answers from all people in the next months I will produce them.

Next I will ask my local Ferrari dealer if he wants to support the meeting in any way. If we get together enough cars he might perhaps do.

Some month I will also call "Ferrari World" magazine of Germany whether they are interested to do a small article about the meeting.

Finally Rob could perhaps send us some Ferrarichat banners which could be placed at the top of the front windshield of the Ferraris to do some promotion for the site.

Then I will also talk to the Count von Trips foundation whether it would be possible to get a guided tour through the von Trips castle and the museum which is really nice.

Well as you can see I have some more ideas in mind. Think I will keep some for myself to suprise you all at the meeting :-)

Jens,

Good job! Fantastic programme.
I was just thinking about the 9 UK Ferrari's on the boat from England. That must already have some impact.
Driving in corso with 15 Ferrari's through Bonn will also be a necktwister.
The car part will be absolutely great and the social programme sounds fantastic (beer, wine, pasta and party). What else is there to wish for?

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to inform you about my level of planning. Now to the facts and programm:

Provisional date: 19th to 22th of June 2003

Provisional Programm:

19th of June 2003:
Till 1500: Individual arrival at hotel
Hilton Bonn or
Bristol Hotel Bonn or
Rheinhotel Dreesen or
Gstehaus Petersberg
Will check out group prices and best
suitability for the cars
Around 1630: Corso with the cars to Schumachers cart track where the indoor track can be used for some racing with carts to warm up for the next day.
Afterwards or before: Guided tour through the personal Schumacher museum with a collection of some of their F1 cars etc.
At around 2100: Drive back to Bonn to have some Klsch at a beergarden directly at the river Rhine

20th of june 2003:
Drive to the famous Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in a corso via the Autobahn
Free practise at the Nordschleife (Free access so there will be others as well!)
One lap now costs 14 Euro with 12 lap cards for one day around 150 Euro
(Will try to get day cards with group discount)
Around 1600: Guided tour through the big Nürburgring Motorsport Museum at the Grand Prix track

21th of june 2003:
Drive to the Nordschleife in a corso
Free Practise the whole day again to really get to know this tremendously difficult track better (I fear one day will definitely not be enough)
Around 1600: Drive back to Bonn with a small halt at the most well known wine yard of the Ahr the "Deutzerhof" with a small wine degustation if possible
Around 2100: Farewell party at my appartment with an italian Buffet and open end

Sunday 22th of june:
Individual departure
Could organise a guided tour through the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven the most famous native Bonner yet

Costs:
Hotel: Around 100-130 Euro per day including breakfast (Depends on how many people attend= group discount)
Track fee: Depends on how much you want to drive. Max around 150 Euro per day
Travel expenses, food, drinks: Depends

Provisional attendance list (in no particular order):
Amar Inam,UK,F360 Modena
Luuk Uiterwijk;NL,348tb
Ulf Modig,SV,308qv
Kevin Johnson,UK,F360 Modena
Eli Latif,UK,F355 Spider
Simon Campbell,UK,400
Richard Lawford,UK,F360 Modena
Jens Haller,GER,348tb
Martin,US
Becker Cuellar,US
Manu,UK
Ross Koller,UK,512TR
Mark Collins,UK,F355
Steve Holden,UK,348ts
Mark Pautz,UK,328GTS
Marcel Cup,NL,348ts
Bart Boonacker,NL
Bart Bosmans,BEL,F360 Modena?
Ton Visser,BEL,328GTS?

This is just a provisional list I have got from one of the last threads.
Who is interested as well?
The more the better!
The Zolder thing can be talked about when we know how many people definitely want to attend and how much the rent of the track costs IMO because otherwise costs could go through the roof very fast for everybody.
Any more questions please contact me!

Con saluti cordialissimi,
Jens Haller
