Mark,

thanks for the warm welcome.

I'm trying to arrange a small meeting with a local 308GTSI owner and maybe the guy that won the 308GTB on the TV program "Dream Machines" recently. We'll be meeting up somewhere around Derby / Nottingham if you're interested in coming along (I don't know where you are).

Anyone else who fancies coming is welcome too!

Justyn.

Oh bum holes, wish they had advertised that somewhere saying this as I was looking forward to it. It's the only event I can find to take my car to.

Thanks for the info.

Brian,

That's correct - the Donington event replaced Brands Hatch this year. Not sure if venue change is a one-off or where and when it will be next year.

Wolfgang,

Looks like two Ferraristi will do a short PPI on that Testarossa here in Bonn and then drive over to Andernach for Engel tomorrow.
Will shoot you a mail about that or give you a call over mobile (only number of yours I got!).

It is indeed too expensive! But I also think that he cant sell the car for that price and so I am pretty sure that he will be cooperative especially if you want to pay cash! I will check out in the next days and keep you updated. :-)

Jens,

thanks a lot for the link and of course I`m still searching for the right one. That`s the one to die for....all papers, documents, service (how many owners?), Tubi/Fuchs installed. BUT the price is realy to high for this testarossa!
I would appreciate it very much, if you can ask the dealer whats the cash price for the car (if he is the owner and not on consigment). IMO it should be arround 45K. I check every day mobile.de and autoscout24.de
This one is very close to my dream but its a `88:

Wolfgang,

I just discovered a decent looking Testarossa in a car shop here in Bonn! 39000km, fully serviced and sells for 53000. A bit too much IMO but I could have a look at the car since its just several km away from my home (I will do anyway I guess! :-))
Look at it at: www.auto-koch.com

Jens,

Tubi for ENZO?
Yes, they do! A member from the FCD already ordered one for his Enzo...but delay and he has to wait 2 month for delivery.
I (and every human beeing)agree with you, the Enzo doesn`t sounds as well as he should for a super-sport-car.

I totally agree with John about the Enzo sound!
If not pushed hard the car has a horrible sound which means nothing at all, very quiet for the supersportscar of the day.
Heard the car when presented by M. Schumacher last year at the Ferrari Racing Days at the Nrburgring and was disapointed.
BTW: Does Tubi produce a proper sport exhaust for the cars? :-)

Hi Ash,

Great photos!

Are you sure you weren't mixing up the sound of the Enzo on the track with that of the F50 immediately behind it. I was shocked (and disappointed) by how quiet it was. When they backed the Enzo into the Paddock Suite afterwards, I could barely hear the engine above the general pit-lane noise even though I was standing right next to it! :-(.

Damn modern noise regulations :-(
Still great to see it though :-)

Best wishes, John

Hello Justyn,

Welcome from someone a bit south of you in London. You can indeed drive your 348 into the Ferrari reserved park regardless of FOC membership; at least that was true last year at Brands Hatch.

Unfortunately I've had to fly to the US at the last minute and will miss Donnington but hopefully see you at Nurburgring or elsewhere. Enjoy the car!

Amar

Hello Justyn,

a very warm welcome on board from Germany.
Congratulation to your new Ferrari. Saw on your profile you bought a "prototype-one-off-a-kind"
---1994 384 Spyder Rosso Corsa, Crema Hide ----
I`m kidding I believe it should be a 348?

Hope to CU at our smal Nürburgring FchatCom.meeting?

Enjoy your drive & Forza Ferrari

I'm collecting my first Ferrari this Friday and am not in the FOC yet.

I live just 15 mins from Donnington. Does anyone know, if I arrive in my Ferrari will I be able to park in the Ferrari reserved parking area or would I be made to use the standard "non-Ferrari" parking area?

Justyn.

Right, I'm in. The weather is looking good, and I have to see that Enzo!

Does anyone have the start and finish times for each day so I can work out what outrageously early time I need to wake up by? :-)

What day(s) are you guys going? I'm heading up on the Saturday or the Sunday, but not both, and it would be good to be able to say "hi" in person.

I agree with the idea that the hospitality package is not great value for money compared with what you get with the standard entrance fee. Last year at Brands Hatch, I was very plesantly surprised at the gate when I, or rather the car(!), was ushured in with no charge. If the same thing happens this year then it will partly pay for the 40-$50 of petrol to get all the way up to Donington and back ;-).

I hope to see you there.

Best wishes, John

I understand that it is the same concept as with the Belgian Ferrari Days. We only paid for the 15 entry ticket and did exactly the same as the 350 ticket except for the lunch (Ferrari Paddock parking, pitslane, track).
Instead of the Ferrari lunch we had a hotdog with other members of this board. It was great fun.

I am not. Its not worth it. It costs 88.00 sterling per day. Its best to pay 16.00 for the weekend through Donington Park, still park in the Ferrari reserved car park, take your Ferarri on track for the parade laps, do everthing except having lunch in the maraque and 360 Challenge Paddock Hospitality. I rather be out around the pits and cars, which you can do at Donington. If your in the FOC you can do all most everything anyway.

At the end of day Its up to you......

Is anyone paying for the hospitality package? I did last year but was ill and only stayed for the lunch - wondering if it's worthwhile.

Hopefully see some of you there...

RACE INFORMATION

Ferrari 360 Challenge Trofeo Pirelli
A single make category for identical 360 Modenas, prepared to Challenge specification at the Ferrari factory in Maranello.

The championship, born in the early 1990s for the Ferrari 348, is divided into two categories: Trofeo Pirelli, for the quicker and more experienced driver and Coppa Shell effectively a class 2 for gentlemen drivers, racers whose passion for the Ferrari marque and desire for victory are every bit as intense as their class 1 counterparts. Each class will race on both Saturday and Sunday.

Pirelli Maranello Ferrari Challenge
Established in 1986 the Pirelli Maranello Ferrari championship is one of the longest lived club series ever. The festival will see rounds 4 & 5 of this 14 rounds series, which is open to road-going Ferraris driven by members of the Ferrari Owners Club.

This championship is divided into 3 classes: Class O (Originale) is for absolutely standard Ferraris, Class C (Challenge) is exclusively for F355 Challenge conforming to factory specification, and class S (Speciale) caters for Ferraris that are modified within certain strict limits together with the latest 360 Modena Challenge cars.

Ferrari Formula Classic
In response to requests from members for an opportunity to race their older production Ferraris, the Ferrari Owners Club has arranged for an experimental mini series of two events in 2003 specifically for pre-1990 cars. It is hoped that this initiative will be the forerunner for a more active programme in the future.

Cars eligible include any production Ferrari built prior to 1990 i.e. up to and including the tipo 328, but excluding turbo charged cars like the 288GTO and F40. All drivers are fully paid up members of the Ferrari Owners Club

FORCE Formula 5000s
Designed as a less costly alternative to Formula One in the 1960s, these cars are just as fast, noisy and exhilarating as their F1 cousins. Some 30 years on THE FORCE Challenge relives those duals with the F1 and F5000 cars from 1966 to 1977 battling for supremacy.

In the early 1970's Formula One had become prohibitively expensive and efforts were made by the organising bodies to cut costs by introducing an International series for Formula 1 style chassis powered by mighty 5 litre American V8 engines. By 1977 these 500horsepower upstarts were lapping many circuits faster than the Formula 1 cars of the day.

Many young British drivers saw F5000 as a route to F1 and amongst those who climbed the ladder were Peter Gethin, Brian Redman, Tony Brise and Bob Evans. On the International scene a number of World Champions took part including Alan Jones, Mario Andretti, James Hunt and Jody Scheckter.

FORCE Classic Prix
F1 and F2 cars from the 1960s and 70s will battle it out on the sweeping curves of Donington. At the Ferrari Maserati Festival race fans will have a unique opportunity to see how the mighty F5000 dinosaurs match up against the more nimble but lower powered F1 and F2 cars of the day.

Thirty years on and its time for the Showdown!

Thorogood GTA Challenge
The inspiring series for classic Alfa Romeo models. After its successful launch by Top Hat Racing in 2002, the innovative Thorogood GTA Challenge looks ahead to its second full season. The ethos behind this accessible invitation series is to promote close racing within a proper historic format for classic Alfa Romeo models of the 1960s and 1970s, inspired by that quintessential Alfa Romeo design icon of the period; the fabulous GTA.

Competitors chose to run in one of two main classes: basic road specification Strada class (to FIA Gp 1 regulations with a cutoff date of 1976) offering a low cost, highly accessible entry level to this exciting series or the race bred Corsa class (to FIA Gp 2 Appendix K regulations), which maintains continuity for cars currently competing in earlier historic trim. These classes will ensure close racing, providing a competitive format and a thrilling spectacle for the enthusiasts.

Top Hat Historic Touring Car Series
Top Hat Racing was responsible for returning 1950s cars to racing at Goodwood circuit. Entering its second season the Top Hat endurance series is for 1950s touring cars, and recalls the titanic duels between Jack Sears, Tommy Sopwith, Stirling Moss, Jeff Uren and many other luminaries who changed the publics concept of humble family saloon forever.

The racing will take you back in time as Zodiacs and Zephyrs wrestle the pace from Austin 105s, while cheeky Austin A35s harry the mighty Jaguar Mk.VIIs. Witness fleet Sunbeam Rapiers dicing with fervent Austin A40s as Riley 1.5s endeavour to outwit jewel-like Alfa Romeo Giulietta Berlinas in their quest to trip up MG Magnettes.
