Adnaan,

The car sounds like a good buy to me - good luck! I am looking for a place directly north of Harrow in the St Albans / Haprenden area. However, prices are clearly dropping and two houses I viewed had come down by 45k each within two weeks! So I think I may wait a while and stay in a rented place until I find what I want (i.e. a big enough double garage)! Hmmm! I could drive awary in something VERY interesting for 45k!!

Cheers, MARK

Adnaan,

If the car is in the condition that you described then I think that it is a good deal.

Good luck!

Mark

I had already read the saga of your 328 purchase, and almost wept reading it. Non the less the car is absolutely beautiful, and despite the damage the car is stunning. Im glad you have finally been able to enjoy your car. And yes reading your story it does seem we have lived parallel lives!

I have actually found a QV. Its owned by a sort of friend who bought the car from an auction last summer. Its in blue with beige leather and is very good condition. Its done 70K miles with FSH, and since my friend bought it has had the cambelt changed, and a bit of other work. The guy owns an italian car garage behind my brother's office, doing servicing, body work, and all the other usual mechanical stuff. He done the cambelt himself, and recently had the MOT done.

He very rarely drives the car, once every 2 weeks or so, and since my brother sees him every day (and he lives local) we see him whenever he takes the car out-which helps!

I went to speak to him about 2 weeks ago about QVs (he's on his 5th personal ferrari (counting from memory), at which point he suggested that if i pay the right money I can buy his. I know he payed about 7500 at the auction (although he says 9000). On top of that he says he has spent just over 1000 on the servicing etc. He want 10,000 for the car which is reasonable money for the car. I said that when im ready i'll come to his house to see the car. Im sure he'll come down a little bit, but i thought i'd leave negotiations to when im more serious.

Anyhow, unlike most buyers, ive found the right car (subject to PPI!), but im just waiting for the right moment to buy it. Since he is not actively selling it im sure the car will still be there when i am ready in a few weeks.

Incedentally Im looking for a house around the Harrow area. I live in Harrow on the Hill, and having another property in my local area will be easier to manage.

Happy motoring!

Hi Adnaan,

It sounds like we have parallel lives here! I waited almost 42 years to get my 328, and am also looking for a house to the north of London! Luckily my wife needed no convincing about the car, and so the house was relegated to second position! Where are you looking to buy??

http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/174013/228415.html?1052032451

I got the car in October, so I'm still quite virginal! He-he....and I still respect my car in the morning....every morning!

Despite the problems I had, buying the 328 was one of the best decisions of my life - your turn will come!

Patience, MARK

Adnaan,

Good luck for your hunt for a Mondial qv!
Hope you find a pristine example. Take your time and search thoroughly. Dont let yourself rush in a decision and you wont do anything wrong with a qv!
:-)

Thanks Guys.

Went house buying today. Going to look at a another property in half an hour. Not looking to live in it, just for investment. I want to get this out of the way before I buy my QV. That way I keep the wife happy!

In the meantime im dreaming of the day I buy my ferrari! I remember the day I bought my M5. I bought it from Hannover, when I used to live in Luxembourg. I know the day I buy my QV i'll be a million times happier!

There is absolutely nothing less Ferrari about a QV then any other. You will definitely enjoy it very much! Good luck on your search (and the new property).

Adnaan,

I know how you feel! Was 26 when I bought my 348!
BTW: Quite tough to get an insurance at all and if you find one they mostly want much more money than if you were lets say 45! :-(
In the end things get solved, though!

Thanks Jack!

Ton-My target isnt even the 3.2, its the QV! I looking at buying another property at the moment so dont want to tie up too much money in a car. As for the 360, like I said thats for a friend.

Ive thought about putting more money into the car, but at this stage in my life I think a Mondial will keep me happy for a couple of years. After all ive only just turned 28!

Adnaan,

So your target is a 3.2 Mondial. Why not go for the Mondial T (3.4 300bhp). Good luck on your search! Are you looking for RHD or a LHD?

Unfortunately I cant recommend any dealers as im based in London myself. best thing to do is look on the autotrader nl site, or maybe on mobile.de

Ton- Im actually looking for a mondial coupe as its more practical for me. The back has more room in it, I dont have to worry about someone putting a knife to the roof, and they are quieter than the cab by nature. Besides cab would cost more money, and if I was going to spend more, id probably put it into a Mondial 3.2 instead of the QV.

Adnaan & Others,

My wife needs a 4-seater and we have been considering a number of options, including a pre-owned Jaguar XK-8. OK, OK....it's a 2+2 but will do just fine!! ;-)

Could any of you recommend dealers on the mainland (probably in Belgium or the Netherlands) that I could approach in this regard? A right-hand drive car would be best.

Thanks, MARK

Will that Mondial be a Berlinetta or a Cabrio?
I think that the cabrio's are very nice cars.

I live in Harrow on the Hill but work near Liverpool Street.

The 360 is actually for a friend. He was going to order one, so im trying to help him source one from europe in RHD. Im also looking but not unfortunately for a 360. I need a 4 seater at a reasonable price since ive got other committments to consider. Its probably going to be a mondial, not quite in 360 league!

Im glad to hear you are driving the car. I hate it when people buy these things only to them gather dust. Such a waste if you ask me.

Good luck with your car. We may meet one day at one of these meets!

Adnaan,

The 360 is out of this world - I had very high expectations and they have been exceeded. I have driven it on normal roads and tracks, in dry conditions and the worst rainy and snowy conditions in January... and handling has always been impeccable, acceleration and speed incredible, and breaking so firm and poised. It is unbelievable!

I live near Tower Bridge. Where do you live? Good luck finding your Ferrari...

Ciao,
Amar

Thanks for the responce guys. In the past i've imported RHD cars from the mainland and saved a fortune. Mainly because of the taxes in the UK and the exchange rate (which is not as good as it used to be).

I expect buying ferrari in RHD from europe will be harder (which is what you guys are saying), but thought its probably worth a try.

Jack-If you can make some calls i would certainly appreciate that. basically need to know two things.
1. How much for a RHD new 360.
2. How long will delivery take.

Thanks in advance for that.

Amar-Hows the 360? Looks very nice! Which part of London do you live in?

Adnaan,

chances of finding a pre-owned RHD are indeed EXTREMELY slim but the dealers / importers should be able order them new for you.

Don't know how cooperative they will be though.

Want me to make some calls?

Adnaan,

Thats going to be very difficult since german dealers e.g. only get left hand drive cars.
Still its worth a try!
Sorry I couldnt help you more on this.

Hi Adnaan,

I also highly doubt it that you will find a RHD 360 at the mainland.

Good luck on your search.

Adnaan,

I'm not sure you can source a new RHD 360 from a Continental European dealer - I believe Euro model RHDs are only available via UK dealers. I sourced an LHD 360 via a Belgian dealer that is owned by Maranello Sales and the transaction was handled via Maranello's in Egham.

Amar

Hi

Wondering if any of you had bought a RHD 360 from mainland europe and imported to the UK. Im not sure if there are still savings to be made over UK list prices, but i'd like to hear from those who have done it before.

Adnaan
