Hi Lee,

HOLY WHACK...GBP 60-160 to re-fill the aircon! I am F*&$#% glad that I had mine done in Germany at a normal price before moving my car to the UK!

The word "extortion" comes to mind!

marc,
prices of taxis from zurich airport to singen are between CHF 280.- and CHF 320.-, depending on the company. my friend would pick you up at the gate directly and drive you to singen in a luxury cadillac for CHF 300.-.
if you are interested, let me know asap and i will book it for you.

marc,

unfortunately, i have a doctor's date exactly the time you'll arrive in zurich. about the way from zurich to singen, a good friend of mine runs a vip-service and security business, i'll ask him what he would charge for the drive, it will be slightly more expensive than a regular taxi, but the comfort and the service is of course much better. otherwise, if you prefer a taxi, you can take any taxi which is waiting at the arrival zone. i can call a taxi company for information about a fix price.

ok..now this is getting exciting..

Flights booked - I will be arriving at Zurich airport at 10.45am on Tuesday 9th September, with my Dad.

I expect to be at the Auto Salon probably midday on the Tuesday, and we will start our way home soon after.

Trevi, are you around? Can I buy you lunch (no mushy peas)?

Do you know of a taxi company that I can use to transfer from Zurich to the Auto Salon?

Looking forward to hopefully meeting you. Thanks all for your invaluable help and advice.

Hi Simon,

I agree that 46k euros would be too expensive for the car, and the price we have agreed upon is a fair one, significantly less than this figure..I am purchasing directly from the seller in the UK, not through the Auto Salon (much to their displeasure!)

Trevi & Wolfgang
Thanks for the welcome.
I was only joking about the FFOS, don't worry I'll still post there. Regarding the 46000 Euro 328, that was just the impression I got from this thread. I undersatnd Trevi and Andrea went to Singen to check out a 328 for someone...I'm guessing that's Marc and that sounds a lot to me. For that money one should expect the best 328 on the planet...and of couse thats mine ;-) (I wink, but I'm not joking) BTW whats the news regarding hotels for next weekend?
See ya

Hi Simon,

a very warm welcome here on fchat.com board.
Great to CU also here. Its a huge, friendly and expertly community. Enjoy it!

Well, the reason to post here and not at FFOS the news for the Nrburgring/Hockenheim meeting is easy. Everything started here with some gents from this forum. So ,its easier to make arrangement and discussion in only one forum.

Which car are you talking about? A 328 for 46K???? Can`t believe it - a couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine sold his 328 GTS in awesome great condition for less than 30K.
Whats the reason to ask crazy 46K? Is it gold plated;-)

CU next week for the drive

Since you guys don't post on FFOS anymore ;-) I thought I'd better check out this FerrariChat melarchy. Looking forward to the Nrburgring...sounds like we'll be quite a few.

BTW after reading this thread the car you saw in Singen with Andrea was for Marc in the UK...I talked to Andrea about it...46000 Euros...I would sell mine for less than that...a perfect 1989 black 328GTB 16000kms.

Marc and others,
Just thought I would join in your conversation as I am now back online. I phoned Daniel Altmann at Auto-Salon-Singen yesterday to try and get the air con filled and sort the brakes out. I sent a very nice E-mail to him asking/pleading to refill air con and check the brakes again. He said to fill the air con is about 40-60 Euros whereas I've been quoted anything from 60 pounds to 160 pounds in UK !! As regards the brakes, he thinks there actually ok, just a slight steering wobble at very high speeds !?! I never had any brake trouble before driving 685 miles to the garage and hope that they might have just been hot after being used for 12 hours non stop !?! Generally speaking sorting out these jobs in Germany will be cheaper. I hope he comes back to me with some good news.

Will keep you informed.

best regards,

Lee Randle

PS The garage has also increased the price to about 45,900 Euros !?!

I will keep you posted.

Trevi,
Why cream/brown leather?
-To me its more classic (not the `50th but the
`70th & `80th Ferraris)
-My 308QV is also cream/brown and I want to keep
this beauty. I believe this matched set
in my garage will drive me crazy;-)
-In summer its not as hot as black leather.

Trevi,

thats excactly was I saw and makes me nervous!
At autoscout24.ch ALL 512TR are listed over CHF 100K! Thats the only one for 78K. Whats the reason? Maybe you are right and the car needs a f*** expensive major service. I would never buy a car without the help from my R.F. garage. For me its just a first view and no need to do any more without the qualified help from a Master Mechanic.
And to be honest I`m looking for a:
`93 or `94 with creme/brown leather (the classical) and not black, 1 owner, service map, accident free, max. 50K kilometer.
I just got the infos about the VAT/Taxe. Mhmm, its better and cheaper to buy in Germany;-)

wolfgang,
i was talking to bruno frey (senior), my ferrari-dealer (www.ferrari-frey.ch), FFOS-member thomas is his son, about sportgarage ruch. they used to be official ferrari dealer until a couple a years ago, when ferrari suisse was restructuring again. there is nothing bad known about them, he is a serious dealer being in business since a very long time.

but bruno told me, that you should be very cautious with this 512 TR, because it is far below the market price (which is between CHF 100'000 and CHF 125'000). do a check on www.autoscout24.ch, search for ferrari 512 tr, they have actually 7 cars listed.
and you know the maintenance costs for this 12 cyls. if you have to do a major on it, then you suddenly will have to invest between CHF 20'000 up to 30'000.

wolfgang,
according to my experience i believe that prices in CH are lower than in germany and other more northern countries in europe. i know, this is not as expected, but it's what you can see, if you compare the prices (see for example www.autoscout24.ch).

trevi

nevertheless, post in FFOS about sportgarage ruch, could be helpful.

Same car in Germany is 10K more - see www.mobile.de. I`m asking me, whats the reason for the low (not realy cheap) price.

Trevi,

I was serious (yes, indeed this time) asking for CAR pics - see above. There are so many awesome cars in Singen and I thought you have shot some more pics from this amazing surrounding?

Another (yep serious) question:
I came across a Swiss dealer in Bern. Sportgarage Ruch. In the brand new FERRARI WORLD is a short story about him and his garage - just moved to a new location. He is offering on his web-site: http://www.sporgarageruch.ch
a 512 TR in Red with creme leather for CF: 78.000. Thats something around 50K uros. Sounds preety good but I don`t know anything or have heared anything about him and his reputation, cars and at least the VAT / Taxe/ Custom fee I must pay here in Germany to import a car from a (still;-) not European Union country.
Maybe you or your friends can answer me some of my questions.

Thanks in advance

i mean, that's definitely enough now!
now i'm starting to talk serious :-(.....
at least for the next 20 seconds :-)

marc: i was there and have checked the car. more details will follow tomorrow, i'm a little bit tired now after my beautiful drive to the black forest and another redlining on the a81. in short the car looks quite good, on a scale of 10 we (andrea and me) gave a 10 for the engine (without driving it), a 9.5 for the interior and a 7.5 for the bodywork (stone chips and minor bents). but, as mentioned, details (including pics) will follow monday the latest.
wolfgang: no pics with the girl!

was a marvelous trip today, not one cloud in the sky and perfect roads (titisee, schluchsee, todtmoos and down to bad sckingen)...i was chasing a fast biker really hard ;-)

so c u all, enjoy the race tomorrow (we will have barbecue brunch on our balcony with our "wettfamily).

marc,
if you already ordered a PPI, i would suggest to be honest, in my experience it has always shown to be the best way. if they are professionals (which i believe concerning the age and size of their business) and car is ok, then it's no problem and they will understand why we are coming and what we are doing. and they can see, how useful communities like ferrarichat are, nobody can hide anymore ;-).
if difficulties arise, then something is wrong.

actually, i may most probably get more technical backup by one of our funky ferrari owners member, who is an automative engineer and experienced car buyer. he was lurking on this thread.

I visited there a couple of years ago..what a place!

Nice car!

Yes, Trevis weekend sounds preety fine; thats why I told him to pick up the digi-cam. NOT to shoot some Ferrari pics;-)

"..all you need is a fish, chip and mushy pea dinner for two (candle lit) and it would be the perfect romantic setting."
Mhmmmm, do you realy think he will have fun with the brazilian girl/or the girl with Trevi after THIS dinner???????
Have you ever heared about "reanimitation"?
He is not used like you in this kind of exctrem-hardcore-food....hopefully still all in good fun?!Upload

It's true. British people have an in-built tolerance to mushy peas, kebabs, Heineken and curry - did you know that curry is actually the number one food in the UK!??!

Trevi, a PPI is a Pre-Purchase Inspection, which should be very detailed - mechanically and on the condition. There is no warranty, so I need it!

A visible inspection would be brilliant - I know you will give me honest feedback..I don't want to arrive there and find that their description does not match what I am expecting to see!

Your weekend plan sounds superb. Stunning girl/stunning car..all you need is a fish, chip and mushy pea dinner for two (candle lit) and it would be the perfect romantic setting.

marc,

i have to redline my mondial on the german autobahn a81 singen/stuttgart with a visiting girl from brazil, that's why i could drop by.
the problem is only that i feel a little bit uncomfortable because of my lack of car knowledge. what if i miss something? at least this is a kind of responsibility.
what is a PPI exactly, what does it contain? if i have only to check the look and the papers, then it's no problem, i can also do a test drive, but i'm a non-technician, so if there's something special, i will most probably not find out or remark.

does the car have warranty?

Oh, oh my dear friend Trevi,

till now, it was just a discussen about the world-famous-english-gourmet-cuisine.
And now, you make MY german babarian cuisine upset?

Well, so lets take about the SWISS:
What the hell are you doing with the cheese????
You throw them in a big pot, making some real fire under the pot and pick the smashed cheese out of it with some chinise sticks?????
Beside this it smels like #*>

I was hoping to go next week to pick up the car, but would prefer to wait and have you guys view it.

I am planning on getting a PPI report done by the showroom and faxed/emailed over, so really I am after a verification of the appearance, condition and 'feel' of the car..you know what I mean. A look over the paperwork would be helpful also.

You said you might be there this weekend anyway - is this something you think you would have time to do?

Cheers! ;o)

We will drive with 10-15 Ferraris to the Nrburgring. Meeting point is: BP Station on the highway HOCKENHEIM. I will let you know time and place excact right in time.... will be early in the morning around 08:00 a.m. But its only 1 hour from Basel away and direct on your route!!!!!

The Montafon program will be send to me this week bei the FCD. Ill make you a copy and send it by mail to you a.s.a.p.

HUNGRY ????? (don`t care about any budget;-)

Trevi,

hey man, have you ever lived in Germany?????
You know all the "insider-specials"!
Handkse mit Musik (cheese with onions) I love it; and all the goodies you mention - you need some goooood Upload

About MS: I rather like to meet Rubens, the always must be second;-)
WHY should this be a 3 days trip for you guys????
Serious reading your posts, you are always talking how fast you are driving on the roads;-), lost the excits....can`t follow the 355...a.s.o.
From Basel its only a 3 hours trip to the Nrburgring - thats it gents!

October - Italy - Drive:
Yep, to be honest I have also totaly overstrechted my budget till 2004.
But I never can say NO.....its a must for me to drive with the other Ferrari Drivers to Italy. There is something like a magnet which forces me to drive again, again, & again to Maranello.

But maybe we can meet us in the MONTAFON in September?
I have also booked (yes, I know Im silly & stupid) at the Ferrari Club Germany a 4 days trip to the Montafon.
We will drive on Thursday, 18. September till Sunday, 21. September with 25 Ferraris in the Montafon.
Schruns, Bludenz, Schlins, Satteins, Rankweil, Sulz, Gtzis, Hohenems, Dornbirn, Bdele, Schwarzenberg, Au, Damls, Faschinapass, Sonntag, Raggal, Ischgl....a.s.o.
Maybe we will find a meeting point to join you and your friends from Switzerland - thats not so far away like the Nrburgring.

2 weeks later will cross the Switzerland on the way to Italy/Lago di Garda/Maranello. I`m sure we can arrange a break close to you. Just let me know right in time.

Hope to CU

Trevi,

If raw fish eggs is what you like, then raw fish eggs you shall have. Would you like chips with that (great English delicacy)?

Thanks very much - I will give you all the information about the car, and who to speak to at the showroom, as soon as I have it confirmed from the U.K. seller.

Thanks again,

Marc.

i know even more!!! what about "handks with music" and pplwoi?....or "himmel und hlle" (my expression, originally it's called himmel und erde) and a schumanns Alt ? or a bauernfrhstck with kostritzer schwarzbier....(that one makes big headaches, btw)

ok....enough off topic ;-)

about MS, of course i don't like him either ;-), but you know, for us poor alpenbuben that's almost a three days trip, not that easy. however, just post it in the FFOS group. about your october-trip: just PM andrea about tips, he seems to know every nice place in northern italy. i'm afraid i have to pass, after the next FFOS trip i will check out my car admission till next season. i have overstretched my budget already by far for this season :-(

wow, I`m highly delighted about your German-culinary-knowledge! Just perfect!
Well, Bratwurst & Mustard & Sauerkraut also works.

Sorry, for a bit off-topic now but whats up with you FFOS guys on September 7th.?
I saw you are planing a trip around the Swiss alps. Why don`t you all come over to join us for the: http://www.michael-schumacher-fan-tag.de
WE also don`t care about MS. Just for the Ferrari event anf NOT to celebrate the MS hype!

i know, talking to a german about heineken is the same as recommending four roses to a scottish single malt freak.
....or asbach-uralt to a french ;-)

but bratwurst and sauerkraut??? sounds strange, what about eisbein and sauerkraut!

or in singen it should be schptzle with sauerkraut and a nice tannezpfle-beer!

prost mahlzeit!

Hi,

Referring to the thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/303995.html?1061225577

I am very interested in purchasing my first Ferrari, which is currently at Auto-Salon, Singen
http://www.autosalon-singen.de/auto-salon.cfm?languageID=GB

and wondered if anyone was near there and could view it on my behalf. I would reimburse any expenses incurred and even throw some Bratwurst and Heineken in to the bargain.

I have been dealing with the actual owner in the UK, and not the showroom - I had been the highest bidder on Scuderia Auctions, but missed the reserve and he subsequently took the car to Germany to be sold (where he bought it from). We have since agreed a price - If it is THE one, I will fly over and drive it home...actually this really appeals!..road trip with my Dad..

Thanks,

Marc.PS Wolfgang - thanks for the tip.
