Marc - nice pics on the link you posted. Is the right rear wheel a spare? It's a different colour and seems to have a luminous sticker. Cheers, MARK

Hi Marc,

The place we are renting in St Albans only has a single garage, so we may just use that for the daily transport and put my toys away for the winter. I have been looking on the web and Classic Car magazine and there are facilities around that will keep your battery charged, look after the car in a temperature and humidity controlled environment and start it up regularly. Price on average is GBP 70 a month. Not bad I thought - I paid 50% more than that for a regular garage in Prague!

Of course the down side is that I will have nothing to polish or drool over for the long winter months! A bespoke cover is essential. I have a nice fitted number that cost me an arm and a leg, but it does the job.

Cheers, MARK

In case it got lost in the bonkers stuff:

Mark, don't know of any off the top of my head..do you think it is vital? I am planning on leaving mine in the garage which I rent, covered with a proper indoor bespoke cover. There is no electricity so I cannot dehumidify or heat it.

I was planning to take the car out at least once a fortnight for a run, in dry weather..your thoughts?

O.K. Marc,
I have made a prompt decison:
Lets drive again, as usual, to Italy next year and we will import, also as usual, our whisky!
You are Monsters, Alliens, Cannibals.......maybe thats why they are drinking so much whisky - to fumigate their stomage trouble.

Seeing as we are going to be in Scotland, I think Haggis and raw fish eggs will have to be on the menu!

These are the ingredients:

1 sheep's lung (illegal in the U.S.; may be omitted if not available)
1 sheep's stomach
1 sheep heart
1 sheep liver
1/2 lb fresh suet (kidney leaf fat is preferred)
3/4 cup oatmeal (the ground type, NOT the Quaker Oats type!)
3 onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne
(don't think this is part of a Porsche Cayenne!)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup stock

Wolfridge & Ermintrude,

You need to start practicing your Scottish:

'Och aye the noo, Jimmy' usually means
'How are you doing. Jimmy.'

(In Scotland, everyone is called Jimmy)

Scottish - Heh neebr, goat a rotry airm fur ma ferrie?
English - Excuse me friend (neighbour), have you got a rotor arm for my Ferrari motor car?

Scottish - hinka cumfae cashore jermy, Ahl hityi oar hied 'caw taughtie.
English - Do you think just because I come from Germany I cannot fight? I shall hit you over the head with a cold potatoe.

Scottish - Gin awa' doon the toon n git mi a bottle o thon malty, n dinnae hing aboot neither.
English - Please could you make your way down to the local shop and get me a bottle of malt whiskey and don't delay!

@Ton,

But not in the winter. I`m thinking of May or later - don`t know and I`m opene and free for any ideas.
Ton, we need YOU for this trip! Please sign in without any obligations and we will find a solution to drive all together.

@Jordan,
you are kindly welcome to join us on our Scotland trip - no date exactly set till now....anytime in May, June...???
I will be back again in Costa Mesa in Januar 2004.
I always stay in the "Country Inn & Suites" 325 Bristol Street, Costa Mesa. Its close to the fairground and to a smal airport. To be honest, I know realy less about the area. I`m over there just for doing some business (NAMM Show, Anaheim and the Orange County Vintage Show). On Saturday evening I have sometimes the pleasure to be invited on a smal party in/at Balboa-Island (Newport Beach). What a place/island....a real estate!!!
Looking forward to see/meet you there next time. Don`t know the date but its in late Januar.

I will have some thoughts about roads that I know. From memory, the road from the highlands (Cairngorm mountain range) to Fort William (Ben Nevis mountain) crosses Loch Lomond and is stunning..in the Winter it is really beautiful with snow on the treea nd accross the lakes..I will post some pics at home later.

I would definately be up for joining you for part of the trip..this site may be useful:

Marc,
so we have time enough over the cold winter to work out a route from Germany over GB to Scotland.
Well, we think about a 8-10 days trip and we would like to visit some smal distilleries (like you mention in your post), drive some empty roads, highlands, nice hotels (saw in german TV a lovely hotel in an old castle)and perhaps we can visit Loch Ness;-)

@Trevi, no I never ever drive the F.-car with alcohol!!!! We prefer, like we did it in the past many, many times, to stay in a hotel and drive with a bus to the "event" drink & eat. We have always arranged a shuttle-service or we take a cab/taxi.
Trevi, if you and/or your Swiss gents would like to join the drive; you are kindly welcome - and I`m not kidding: I will order/call/rent a Rolls-Royce with a real chauffeur to bring us from the hotel to the distilleries!!!

a ferrari-single-malt-tour!!! you are definitely insane! that's a contradiction in itself. ok, maybe it's easier then to drive on the wrong side of the road ;-)

for me the perfect single-malt-tour must be in a rolls royce driven by a real chauffeur! not by me, trying hard to suffer through the hangover waiting desperately for the next whiskey!

Sounds cool. Scotland is beautiful - I know some of the roads around the highlands which we could include on the route. We would HAVE to visit a tiny town called Tomintoul, which brews its own malt for export - 100 proof if you can handle it! (No Ferrari driving that evening)!

Hi Mark,
great to hear that you, your car and of course the biker are well and not hurt.
Must have been a funny & sunny day in the UK.
Awesome to get so many Ferraris together for a drive-out in October - respect!
Maybe, we can plan something together for next year? I would like to drive with a few friends (just only 3 Ferraris till now) in 2004 for a "Ferrari-Singel-Malt-Whiskey" tour to Scotland. Possible we can arrange something together? No date is fixed and we are open for any ideas.

thanks a lot for the invitation. Please let me know your tour-plans for 2004. I`m sure we will find a solution to meet us and to CU live on stage!
About the California roads: I`m 2 times a year in California and know only less about the roads. I drive always from L.A. to Veags or to Costa Mesa/Newport Beach. Both are very interesting roads (of course not such high mountains) but a beautiful and always sunny surrounding. Only the speed-limit sucks, sorry!

Wolfganeg,

Have you heard of 'Only fools and horses'?

It is a very funny cult comedy show in the UK - 'This time next year, Rodney' is one of the sayings from the show.

But I`m just wondering about: "...this summer.."
Sorry buddy, the summer has gone for this year!!!
Winter is strange comming all over Europe. So I believe you are talking about next year 2004 summer???

No, thanks I know the translation off "H bitte".
I was asking for: "This time next year, Rodney.."
What the **** does this mean?

Hey Wolfgang
Nice pictures. Did you get my message about meeting up in Lustenau (or was in Bregenz...can't remember)? I think the number you gave me was your shop not your mobile so you probabaly didn't get it until you returned from the trip.
See ya
Simon
P.S. Are you looking for an english translation of "H Bitte" if so thats quite easy...."Hey, please"

Marc, Uwe, Ansgar,
thanks a lot for your compliments and its a pleasure for me to upload some more pics from this amazing drive....within the next few days.
I have attend so many events this year with 200, 300 or more Ferraris in a paddock or restricted area just standing around there. No emotions to me. But to drive thru a beautiful country together with 28 Ferraris, always in a rowe, thats breathtaking and much more exciting.

@Sebastian,
usual no problem; but this time please (likewise I have written in my post) sorry, NO!
The reason is very simple. I have had some problems seeing MY pics in other forums with some childlike, stupid comments (not in your forum!) and the pics got copied again to another forum a.s.o. Beside this I also would like to see some more serious users here at ferrarichat.com - maybe I can move them here to my community?
So please accept this and feel free to link to ferrarichat.com
Thank you for your understanding

Yours
Wolfgang

Doody,
we are a bit over 400 Ferraris in the German Ferrari Club. Most are red but there are all kinds of colours present and no rules;-). No we are not Austrians, we are all from Germany and just have been there (in Austria, where i shot the pics) for a 4 days Ferrari trip with just 28 Ferraris.

Bart,
yes, the ENZO belongs to the "President" of the FCD and the 360 is a real Stradale - just delivered 1 week B4 to the lucky owner.

Woow Wolfgang, that looks like a hell lot of fun.

Was the Enzo of the President of the Ferrari Club Deutschland ? That one was expected on a FCN meet aswell but instead the F50 showed up.

Is the 360 with the stripe on it a Stradale ? Or just a 360 with a stripe on it :-)

Bart

Ps. YES, more pictures are welcome :-)

Hi gents,
well back after an amazing loooong weekend.
The weather was more than perfect no clouds, 30 Grad and the amazing surrounding with
all the big mountains in Austria. I have been there with the Ferrari Club Deutschland and
THIS was realy, realy THE event of the year, too me!
28 Ferraris driving together thru the mountains and over the hills.
The car-typ list was the most amazing sample we have ever driven together:
308GTS, 328GTS, 348GTS, 2 x 355GTS, 355Spider, 4 x 360Modena, 4 x 360Spider, 575M,
Testarossa, 2 x 512TR, F 40, F 50, ENZO.and some more see pics.

I have shot over 100 pics and here is the first bash of pics for you. Let me know, if you would like to see
some more pics?

---Please do not copy the pics for other forums or web-sites! You are welcome to link to
ferrarichat.com but don`t copy them! Thank you-----
