Oh no, more problems Ferrari Spain can't certify the omologation of my car, becuse they can't certify that my car, a February 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS US version, corresponds to a type F106 AS/R model 328 GTS. Or better said they don't want to take the steps to know it.

So I have conntacted Ferrari Customer Service directly. Let's see if they can provide me with the certification...

The point of all this is; never bring back to Europe a US version of a Ferrari.

Julio

Envious!! But I just heard on the news today that temperatures here (for August and September) have been the highest since records started in the year 1070 (or some date close to that). Should we thank Mr Bush for global warming?? MARK

Thanks Mark,

The car has not be stoped all this time, I can use it, I have a temp license, that I have to renew every 60 days with a maximum of 1 year.

So I've been using it, :-) However you are right wether is quite good in Spain for most of the year, 260 sunny days/year as average in Madrid :-)

Hey Julio!!

EXCELLENT!! That's great news...just a pity it's so late in the year already! But I guess you don't have too many weather problems in Spain.

Cheers, MARK

Well, Ferrari Spain called me today after two days. And they give nme the good news, they will give me the Technical Spec Sheet that I need, no problem.

So they surprised me, becuase what I heard from other user experiences has nothing to be, now with the service they are providing me.

Woohoo, I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Julio.

Yes I have been with burocracy problems for almost 5 months, I am almost done. If I get this Technical Spec sheet, I will be able to request the Spanish license plates on it and I will be done.

Well, I did talk to Ferrari Spain this morning, they did not say No, but neither say; Yes, we will get it for you.

So I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt for a while, I might get surprised. I did not deal with them before, so all I know is because somebody else told me, so I can't be sure if it is true, or even if things have changed since their experience.

If I see this goes nowhere I might have to request help from you guys at FChat.

Thanks Mark.

Wow Julio,

That sonds like a painful, bureaucratic and costly process! If you are not getting support from Ferrari in Spain, have you tried contacting Maranello directly? There are people on this list who are VERY connected there and could introduce you to the right person. They must be able to re-issue these documents if they get lost or destroyed. Just a thought!

You should also tell Maranello about the lack of support you get from the official dealer in Spain. I don't think the parent company really cares where people get their cars, as long as there are still madmen like you and I out there wanting to spend lots of money on them!

Cheers, MARK

Thanks Mark,

I also have one of those CDs. This document is specific to each individual car. It is a document which specifies the Chasis Number, the Manufacture date, the amount of pasangers allowed, the empty weight and the maximum load weight, hp, fiscal hp according to Spain tables, etc etc.

It is unique to each car, at least for the cars sold or imported to Spain. This might not be true in other Countries.

I already contacted Ferrari Spain, they are the ones that are suppoused to provide me with one. But they don't like people importing cars, so they are going to make it difficult.

I found other way to get one, making a pass on the National Institute of Technology. They will run an simple homologation test on my car based on other 328s and present me, a huge bill and then, give me the card who will match quite surprisingly that of other 328s. This is another way of indirect taxes for imports.

Oh well, I should have sold the car in the US, and then got another one here, it would been easier.

Thanks though.

Julio,

On e-Bay I bought one of those CD's with a full set of manuals and supporting documentation (for both US and Euro-spec models). Would I find what you're looking for there?

Let me know and I will take a look when I get home.

Regards, MARK

Hola,

Gracias.

After some pain and parts replacement I finally past the Spain ITV (Vehicle Technical Inspection - similar to SMOG + DMV inspection) to legalize the car in Spain.

But I am missing a document. Do anybody knows where to get the Reduced Technical Spec Sheet of a Ferrari 328 GTS US version. I need it to legalize the car in Spain.

Thanks.
