Thanks! The model was actually just described as a "GTS Turbo", but I tend to say 328 to identify the body style.

The 208 was the previous model that did not have the intercooler. There were a number of different configurations of the 2 litre cars but some of the earlier versions had poor performance so Ferrari evolved the design until the final evolution that had similar performance to the normal 328.

I think that 300bhp, while nice is a little more than I have! My handbook that came with the car from Ferrari states 254bhp.

The engine is basically a "sleeved" 328, it would certainly be interesting to put a standard capacity engine with low compression pistons into the car, but use all the turbo installation. Then perhaps 300bhp would be possible !

One day perhaps!

Really cool! Excellent photos! Even with the 328 body style, they were still called 208 Turbo. My sources state HP actually greater than the 328 (around 300 HP!). Beautiful car!

I purchased the car in the summer of 2000, my first Ferrari !

The 328 Turbo is a rare model even in Europe (I'm in London,England), it was produced to take advantage of a loophole in the Italian Tax System.

Cars of less than 2000cc have a better tax allowance than those of greater capacity. All the manufacturers used to make cars to take advantage of these rules.

My car is the last evolution of this capacity, changes from a normal 328 externally are large NACA ducts on the lower body behind the doors that feed the intercooler & 5 slots in rear bumper. The engine cover is also changed to incorporate clearance for the Beher intercooler.

There is a single water cooled IHI turbo running off the rear exhaust manifold.

Power is about 15bhp down on the equivalent normally aspirated 328.

Internally the only difference to a standard 328 is a "boost gauge" between the Speedo & Rev' Counter.
