Jim, The recall has more to do with the VIN # than the year. I think it does affect some early 87s.See my posting below. |

I did have problems with my car when I bought it, but at least it drove and I picked it up cheap. I've put in ALOT of work these past many months (too embarrassed to mention how much). But in the end, which is coming up soon I hope, this car WILL BE DONE, I can then go on and enjoy the damn car without worrying about it. I've learnt many valuable lessons with this project: 1) You get what you pay for 2) But then, this whole experience has been very enjoyable and by getting deep inside this car, I now know it, I'm one with it. Some kinda zen-like, Dr. Spock mind-meld with it. |

I looked at a 77 308.. Looked great, but didn't trust the guy selling it. Any problems with your 308 ? |

Whereabouts in Canada, Tony? (I'm in Vancouver) What specifically makes you un-easy with the work of restored cars (you feel they missed, or skimped on something)? |

Leo what year is this 308 ? Was it restored ? I am looking for a 308 in Canada, but I either find restored versions which I am skeptical about buying because I don't know what type of work they did to it, or beaten up cars. How much did you pick yours up for ? What year is yours ? |

Len, coincidentally I just wrote in a tech question asking if anyone knew where I could find look-a-like GTO wheels. I saw this type on a GTB and thought they looked beautiful - and this is coming from a very conservative (all original, please!) person. I think they look good only on a GTB for some reason (more professional looking? roofline?)Those are the only style wheels I would even think about replacing the originals with. Your car looks beautiful and aggresive at the same time. Did you find out who makes them? What size are they? The emblem in the center was a nice touch. I do not yet have a Ferrari, but I am looking for a carb version 308. If it turns out to be a GTB and you still have those wheels, I may want to buy them from you - if not already sold! |

Did the 328 recall apply to the 87's too? |

Thanks Leo for the info. Larry Dunn (who owns a GT4 like mine), pointed out that the lower oil cooler hose on our cars rubs on the bellhousing. Mine included, although not broke through the hose, just rubbed the braiding off. My new hoses I had made were a slightly different length which just misses the bellhousing (but not pinching the hose). I had the hoses made by an industrial supplier using Caterpillar parts (fittings, hose) These hoses are good for 1500psi! well within the pressure limits of the engine J |

Peter, The lines can leak because there is insufficent clamping of the metal connectors at the flexible portion of the oil hose. The recall involves replacement of both upper and lower flexible hoses with an improved procedure. The engine oil pressure regulating valve assembly is also updated. |

Just curious Leo, for what reason are the oil cooler lines recalled (defectively made/new routing/larger size)? |

Thanks Lens, I appreciate the headsup. I'll check with Algar as I've done business with them in the past. thanks again, John |

Forgot Yes, the carpet is factory. It was one of the deciding factors. I cant wait to get the stock rims on the car. |

John, 143 - flexible oil cooler line (S/N 60053-63809) 144 - fuel return hose (S/N 60053-66711) 146 - front lower suspension arm forks (S/N 60053-66711) According to two dealerships I spoke with (Algar and Ferrari of Long Island) the recall work is for the life of the vehicle, and should be honored by any authorized dealership. 143 and 144 are relatively easy fixes, 146 is a little tougher because the parts have to be ordered from Italy. 143 and 144 were done on my car. Im still waiting for the parts to come in for 146. They were ordered in May! You can call any dealership and give them your S/N. They should be able to check the master database in Italy to see if the work was ever performed. Where/how did you get your car? |

Lens: SWEET: came over from my site, thanks for your comments: Was the carpet factory? Wheels, They look good to me, although , like you, I do like the factory wheels: post some new pictures when your done:Good luck with this beauty: By the way, I have no idea whether the recalls 143,144,146 were done or what they are, how could I check. Thank John Arends |

Leo, Great car I love the red carpets with tan interior, I just purchased a Boxer with the same color combination. I think your wheels are S.L. competition 2400SMX rims see the link below: http://www.garedcars.com/Details/New_enlargements/2400SMX.html or they are compmotive TS rims see the link below http://www.usacomp.com/ts.htm I think they look great and give your car a more aggresive look somewhat like the 288 GTO. Peter, When I first saw the red carpet I was a little skeptical, but it grows on you. Now I love it. I think it ages much better than the tan; it doesnt get that pinkish-yellow tinge that I saw in a few other cars. You guys really like the wheels? Maybe its just me, but the chrome just doesnt appeal to me. The car is striking enough without them. Anyway, I ordered Goodyear HP Ultra Plus tires today for the stock rims. Thanks for all the compliments, and to everyone on this site. You guys were a big help, and I imagine will continue to be in the future. |

Leo, I love the interior colour combo, Looks much better than the usual tan/brown ones. Still to this day, I prefer the GTB. You've got a beautiful car. Congrats! |

Keep the wheels on. From the pictures it looks pretty nice. Are they aftermarket? They look similar to the F40 wheels, although I can't imagine the F40 wheels would fit...especially in the rear. It's definitely a beautiful car...with or without the wheels. Good luck to you! |

It was definitely in the best condition of the dozen or so cars I looked at, but it certainly isnt flawless. But thanks, Ill take the compliment. Ive got a busy summer ahead of memostly cleaning and detailing. I ordered a leather restoration kit from Leatherique.com. They were really helpful, and offer discounts to Ferrari owners. Right now I just want to put the original wheels back on. I cant stand these rims. |
