Dear Dr. Marty,

Well, actually IT WAS for my terminally ill grandmother...in a round-about way. You see, I could not arrive at the hospital with my car interior looking a bit shabby. After all, what would all those high paid doctors think?? You should know...right? Anyway...see you in Cali in a few weeks.

I love you too man!

Heres the actual car on a SPECTACULAR day here in Oregon. Still winter and it was nearly 60 with not a cloud in the sky. Upload

Eric,

Thanks for the compliments....

Most of the work was done by a shop here in Portland Oregon called Bright Auto Upholstery. He likes to use Scottish leather as he says its easier to work with than the Connely and (in his opinion) has a long "shelf life" when treated properly. I don't know if this leather has a particular name, but Scottish leather seems to have a pretty high respect from the local leather upholstery folks here in town as most of them seem to work with it. Seats were $1400 for the pair which included all new foam and a re-built head rest frame on the drivers side. The original leather was so dried out and had shrunk to where it mis-shaped the original foam badly. Also, the leather peeled off in layers from the inside once they had the seats apart...it was in sad shape! The door panels were $700.00 for the pair. I did not have the arm rests re-coverd because they match my dash and fuse box cover and the leather on those areas does not need to be re-done. It has a little bit of a different texture than the door panel leather and I think it helps contrast the two pieces nicely. The rear shelf and head liner was another $500.00 which included new rubber door seals attached to the spyder top. The Momo model is the "COMPETITION". It cuts off my view a bit to the two guages at the top of the instrument cluster, but I like the feel of this wheel heads and tails above the original skinny Nardi wheel. The floor mats I purchased from Italian Car Parts here in Oregon, but it was one of the first things I bought when I purchased the car about 5 years ago. They are quality mats, but I don't know the make. If I remember, I think they were about $185.00 for the pair. They have the horse and FERRARI in red as part of the carpet weave and really add a nice touch with the red piping. Hope this helps.

Beautiful job, Bruce! I especially like the piping treatment that you chose.

If you don't mind me asking, what leather/carpet source(s) did you use? Also, which particular model #, etc. did you choose for the Momo wheel?

Well... the pictures are little bright in some spots because of the flash and the sun outside, but just completed a major interior restoration on my 81 308 and thought I might share. Seats were re-done with all fresh leather and red piping added. New side door panels done with red piping on the horizontal lines that I thought really tied the seats and doors in together. New Momo stearing wheel that I like alot better than the Nardi that was on there....it was too thin for my liking. Drilled pedals. Back shelf and head liner were done in a dark charcoal grey GM interior material that will not show the dirt like the original tan. Weave and texture of this material has a close resemblance to the original Ferrari material but is (of course) a whole lot cheaper and will be easier to keep clean. Enjoy!Upload
