DES: I'm interested in 1950s and 1960s Euopean sports cars. I have a special interest in 1950s and 1960s Italian sports cars. I'm an absolute fanatic when it comes to 1950s and 1960s Ferraris. Put it this way, I can tell you that it's a Series I E-type Roadster and I could guess that it's a 3.8 litre, because I think I've seen a "4.2 Litre" badge on the 4.2s. Then again, I could be completely wrong. That's the extent of my Jaguar knowledge. Now, ask me about any of the F-cars on this page and... |

LMAO, Wayne, my boss drives a Jag- he called it the shag-mobile the other day... So your specialty is Ferraris only, or are Maseratis included...? |

LOL, yeah, i saw the thread... i know exactly what you mean... Some people just don't understand... Hey, on the picture at the very bottom of this thread, the two innermost tail lights are different colors- the left one is orange while the right one is read; What's the deal...? i've heard that sometimes Ferrari dealerships or mechanics put the red ones on the outside instead of the inside or vice versa, but i don't recall reading anything about two different colors being ok... Any thoughts...? |

Do I get overwhelmed? Absolutely! Misquote a s/n? I don't actually run around quoting serial numbers. I usually take a friend with me to these things and none of them are really THAT interested in the cars to give a rat's patooka what the serial number is. I try to contain my excitement and keep it to myself though, occasionally, I might get too excited (see my recent thread, "Am I Sick?") and blurt something out. Still, they would never know (or care) if I was right or wrong anyway. |

You're definitely not crazy, just very unique... Do you ever go to a show with a whole bunch of Vintage Ferraris and get overloaded...? Have you ever misquoted a serial number...? |

DES, to be honest, to me Vintage Ferraris are like celebrities. Imagine you are walking through a post-Oscar party filled with film industry people and occasionally you see a celebrity here and there in the crowd. You might say (to yourself or to the party with you), "Oh my God! There's Robert Deniro!" or "Look, it's Jack Nicholson!" etc. Well, I'm like that with vintage Ferraris as I walk along the greens at Pebble Beach or at the Concorso. Most of them I see as "a Lusso" or "a 275 GTB/4" or whatever, but there are many "celebrities" that I recognize by serial number, mostly the rare, one-off, limited production, or competition cars. Call me crazy! |

LOL, Wayne, thank you... You're like a damn database, it's unbelievable... Wayne, when i first see a car, i don't pay notice to the interior or any scratches it might have; i don't much care what color it might be or what rims or wheels are on there... When i see a car i like, i immediately see it on the parkway... When you see a car, what's the first thing that pops into your head...? Do you immediately see a serial number...? i know this almost sounds like a joke, but i'm being serious... |
