Jim, I don't know why but their shapes, sounds, and smells really get my juices flowing. The only modern era Ferrari to have a similar effect on me is the F40.

And it's not just Ferraris, either. The Mercedes 300SLR, the Aston Martin DBR-1, just about any 1950s era Maserati sportscar; all of these stir something inside me. Then there are the pre-war racers; the Auto Union and M.Benz Grand Prix cars and, of course, the Bugattis.

You're right, being born in 1970, I grew up with Magnum P.I. and Miami Vice and, at the time, the 308/328 and TR pretty much summed up my concept of what Ferraris were. Even then, my favorite car was the E-type Jag, that is until Ferris Bueller changed my mind in 1986.

To make a long story short, I was later stationed at the Presidio in Monterey, CA in 1988-89 and one weekend in August of 1989 had a lasting impact.

This is not a challenge, but a question. Why do you like the old ones so much? The history, mystique or what? would you prefer an old car to a....say f40 or enzo despite cost differences? you are the same age as me I think 32 so you didn't grow up with these cars did you?

I like the 80's cars. 308, 328, boxer and TR. Not sure if it is bc of magnum pi, miami vice or just because I grew up in teh 80's. I also really like the old 250 SWB's like that silver one with maroon stipes on it you have posted.

Grant, nice pics. I particularly like the one of 500TR s/n 0652MDTR with the helmet and goggles.
