I forgot were the Fantuzzi was, but I always have the same: Visit all 15 halls, exploring them systematic and then on TV or the net I still see interesting car I missed. Didn't go to Coys because I remembered from the year before that you have to buy the brochure first for some silly price. Sorry, no more pictures from the blue boxer. These are the pics I took in 2002: http://www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk/bert/part1.html |

The 250GTO was at display at the stand from Ferrari Club Deutschland, the 288GTO was for sale by Auto Becker Dusseldorf, they had the car from new and it has only 1000 km on the clock. Asking price 330.000 Euro, so maybe they don't really want to part from it. It must be the same car I photographed about 15 years ago:
To Ron, asking about my GTO project: I was thinking to take the photo from the back of the GTO, and make an enlargement of the gearbox and stick it below the bumper on my car :-) But seriously, I spent many hours on the US exhaust (with "testpipes") to move it 10 cm (4 inch) forward, had to cut and reweld some tubes and make new brackets, then I could start building the cover frame, here you see the result but I'm not satisfied. I made a seperate bumper with license plate and the exhaust cover frame from 3mm thick steel strips, but it took a lot of extra iron to make everything stiff enough to prevent vibrations and it is difficult to align everything with even gaps, so I think I start again with a different approach. But the story on my GTO lookalike will be the subject to another thread, or website, when it's ready, if ever. So far: don't try this at home, because I'm not to very certain about the endresult...it doesn't have to look like a GTO, but I hope it will still look like a Ferrari, and not a home build kit :-0

Wayne, Thanks for the blurb. So where is the car located now? Purely from an aesthetics point of view, it's stunning. --Dan |

Hi Dan, The story actually goes back to 1963 and 330 LMB s/n 4381SA. 4381 competed at both Sebring and Le Mans in 1963, but DNF'd in both. It was then taken to Fantuzzi to be rebodied with the spyder bodywork you see here. Sometime between 1978 and 1980, 4381 was restored to its original berlinetta configuration and the Fantuzzi spyder body was then placed on 330 GT 2+2 Series II s/n 8733GT. Another interesting note on 8733 is that it made an appearance in Federico Fellini's 1968 film "Spirits of the Dead," with it's original bodywork of course.

Great photos, Bert. Looks like your "308 GTO" conversion is going well. Are you "diverting" the exhaust to accomodate a dummy gearbox on the rear? ;) |

Ohhh, I understand now. Thought you were able to simply match the #'s by the pics from your sources. Still pretty amazing though, if you ask me....take it from someone who can't even remember his own F-car's serial # half the time! |

Eric, thanks, but not really. I just received a list of cars at the event from someone who really IS amazing and took the time to write them all down while attending. I can take no credit except for matching the list up with the photos. Thanks anyway! |
